The Ultimate Hill Giant Killing Guide: Part One
This guide is for all your F2P Runescapers who want to make the most out of killing Hill Giants, either for profit or XP.
Hill Giants are a very popular monster to train on in F2P as they are a nice level, drop Big Bones (which can either be buried for Prayer XP or sold) and respawn fairly quickly. The most common place to train on these monsters is in the Edgeville Dungeon via the ladder in the hut West of Varrock as there are 12 in a reasonably small area.
If you are a seasoned player, skip over the first bit.
Section A: Getting There
First thing first, you will need a Brass Key. These can be bought from the GE or from other players. Alternatively, you can head to other Edgeville Dungeon entrance, walk the whole way around. and pick up one yourself. However this will take a while.

The required Brass Key.
Once you’ve got a Brass Key, head to the Hill Giant Hut which is West of Varrock (see map). Go down the ladder in this hut and you will find yourself in a cave.
Remember to bring good weaponry for fighting Level 28 Hill Giants which are aggressive up to level 65.

In this cave are quite a few Hill Giants, and probably at least four other players. Don’t be surprised if there are over twenty though.
Section B: Getting the Most Fights
One of the main problem with training in this area is that there are usually many other players trying to fight Hill Giants, especially on highly populated worlds. Make sure you are in a world with fewer people or an Event World (such as Fist of Guthix) as hopefully there will be less people in these. I have found that World 61 (Great Orb Project world) is usually fairly empty.
Note that the amount of players in this area usually grows and declines over the space of half an hour. Or less. For example, I recently went into World 61 and there were only four players, now there are about fifteen.
The best way to make sure you get the Hill Giants is to know where they respawn. Below is an approximate map of the respawn points.

This map will not me of very much help, so below I have included two smaller area photos which show the exact respawn points.
South Western Corner

This is my favourite area for killing the Hill Giants, as you can usually just go between the top two (Western) without having to wait too long. Remember to stand right next to the respawn point (not on it) so that you can hopefully attack first.
North Area (near ladder)

The area to the left of that picture is my second favourite place for training. Use the two middle ones if you are afraid of being killed, as you can just use the ladder. Do not run further down the tunnel to escape, as there are aggressive zombies and further on, Hobgoblins.
Other Tips for Getting Fights
- Try not to compete with other players unless you know you can be quicker than them. Also, some players may get annoyed with you if you steal their kills…however I have found that they usually just leave if you are a higher level than you.
- If there is a giant not under attack nearby and you just finish killing another giant, leave the drop for a second and attack the free one. Once you are in battle with it, just run back and get your drop. This way, you secure more kills.
- Keep run on at all times.
- Wear the best armour that you can (FULL RUNE!!!) as this will help you stay longer, meaning more experience. You will also waste less money on food.
- Use the best weaponry you can. A Rune Scimitar (or stronger) is best, however a 2hander may work fine. I prefer using a scimmy as you attack faster, and hit quicker. Only use a 2h if you have high attack.
- Utilise a Rune (or adamant) Berserker shield from Fist of Guthix as this will boost your strength meaning that you will hit higher.
This the end of Part 1, however I will be posting Part 2 soon…which will include the best ways to make money and train with Hill Giants.

Yeah…I am probably past hill giants and should go to moss giants…but I’ll get my defence to at least 50 first, and that means getting my attack to 60 first.
My cb is 69 now lol.

Wow, this is a very detailed guide! I’m level 90 member so I don’t train with it anymore but I’m sure a lot of lower level F2P players would be helped a lot.
