Top 10 Things About RuneScape
Runescape is the classic MMORPG loved and hated by millions.
Runescape gets alot of criticism, anyone who plays will forever be mocked by people who try hard to hide it from their dark past or have only heard stories.
I’ve experienced Runescape as my first MMORPG, in around 2002. From there i have played a countless list of MMOs. I have found myself hating Runescape, but I realise that I only hate it because others feel I should.
I’ve quit Runescape long ago, but I would definitely still be playing if it wasn’t looked down upon, although I am happy that I’m released from its addiction, I still believe that Runescape is an epic chapter of my life and permanent mark on the internet.
The Top 10 Things about Runescape begins:
10. The community; is not the best, but at least you could go around and see people! Because of the Spammed wave of new MMOs it is no longer fun to play many of them, since the spread of people creating a lack of players. Runescape is still huge after all these years and is probably got the most “worlds” in any mmorpg.
9. No hackers, Since this game is made in Java, its been pretty un hackable. Through all its years its had no hacker situation, the worst that could be done was a client side hack, that could not affect the actual game.
8. Blocking chat; Its funny how you can just ignore the world even in a game by setting your chat to private. It makes the game seem like your the only one playing and you’re able to escape the escape of reality.
7. Free play; Jagex gave enough things for non members to do and be happy, It seemed like it would take years to finish before even needing to continue to members worlds.
6. Browser; The game does not need to be downloaded, it saved us memory on our computers, back in the day this was an important thing to let our computers run faster and have more space. While the option of downloading the client was also available.
5. Quests; I was happy I was a free player because there was never a endless list of quests and conquering the dragon slayer would mean finishing the game. This game Runescape a point where you could be happy with what you have accomplished.
4. Skills; were good, they gave you enough to do, while not restricting non members from enjoying the game one bit. It actually gave more than needed and the high level didn’t mean the skill will be mastered over a week. Which kept the game interesting.
3. Training system; It was simple and didn’t need to “grind” to gave a level. Specific areas of skills made it so that you could focus on that and not be hunting the same monster for days.
2. Events; after all these years Runescape still is able to role out good reward for events. The only time I still go on is to collect the new event items.Kudos to Jagex for this although if the items were trade-able, it would be much more interesting.
1. Friends; are creatable anywhere, but the diverse community of Runescape has made everyone some good friends, even keeping just one friend all these years later gives you one achievement for Runescape.
