Tutorial Island

When you start playing Runescape, you get to pick how your character would look like and it is most likely permanent (read article called “changing your player’s clothes’). After you have picked how you would like your character to look like, go and talk to the Runescape guide. Just speed through everything he says.

Next go through the door by clicking on it (or right clicking and selecting open door) and head down the path way to find the survival expert. Talk to her and she will tell you some information which I don’t bother to listen to. After she finishes talking she will give you a bronze axe and tinderbox. To get more of them just drop it (right-click and select drop) and talk to her again. Go click on a tree and your player will start attempting to cut it down. Even if someone else cuts it down before you, you can still cut it down here but not once you get past the island.

Click on your inventory (the backpack) and click the logs and the tinderbox. You should start attempting to light your logs. After the logs have been lit, you will now be able to see your skills panel (the column graph). Talk to the survival expert again and she will give you a small net and tell you to fish some shrimp. Click on the spot in the water that is shimmering white and you should start fishing for shrimp. Once you finish fishing it you will stop (in the future you will fish until your inventory is full). Light a fire again and use your fish on the fire and you will cook or burn the fish. If you burn it simply fish another one.

Proceed through the gate and go to the kitchen. You will meet the master chef. Talk to him and he will give you a bucket of water and a pot of flour. Use the pot of flour on the bucket of water. You will make bread dough. Now use your bread dough with the range which is under the yellow arrow. You will now either cook it or burn it. If you burn it ask him for another one. Once you cook it you will have unlocked the music panel (the harp). You start out with a few tunes but you get more as you travel around Runescape.

Go through the Door and head to the house. It will tell you to click the control tab (the spanner) and click run (the person running). Run to the house and talk to the quest guide. Finish talking to him and you have unlocked the quest panel (the blue gem). Go down the stairs and head to the mines. Talk to the Mining instructor who will talk to you about mining and smithing.

He gives you the task of prospecting the rocks. Right click on the rocks and select prospect (you can mine them yet because he hasn’t given you a pickaxe). The orange rock is copper and the grey rock is tin. Talk to him again and he gives you a pick and tells you to mine the rocks. Mine them both and go to the furnace. Use the ores with the furnace (one only) and you will get a bronze bar. Talk to the instructor again and he will give you a hammer. Use the bronze bar on the anvil and u can make a mace or a dagger. You can make a mace once you leave the island but not in it. Make a dagger and proceed through the gate to the Combat instructor.

The combat instructor is called Vannaka who you might meet in the future. Talk to him and you have unlocked the equipped panel (the man). He tells you to equip your dagger. Click on the dagger. Talk to him again and he will call it a puny bread knife. He gives you a bronze sword and a wooden shield. Go to the equipped panel and click on the dagger to remove it. Go back to your inventory and equip your sword and shield. Next go into the rat pit and kill a rat. It takes a long time and you might die but you don’t lose your stuff. Once you kill it, it will drop bones. Go back outside and talk to Vannaka and he will give you a shortbow and 25 bronze ammo. To get more drop the ammo and talk to him. Pick it up and repeat. I got 2000 ammo once! Next kill another rat but this time equip your bow and ammo. Even though you equip just 1 shortbow your shield and sword are unequipped because you hold your bow in two hands. Kill another rat and leave. Take note after you leave the pit after your first kill and talk to Vannaka you will not be allowed back in. Go up the rope and along the path to your bank.

Talk to the banker and view your bank. Success! You have your first gold. 25 gold to be exact. You use your gold to but items in the future. Go through the door and talk to the financial advisor who will tell you the best ways of making money in the future. Go through the door once you finish talking and head to the church. He will unlock your prayer panel (the star) and your friends and ignore list (the happy and sad faces). Talk to him and then continue through the door to your last destination before you leave the island. Talk to the Magic Instructor and he will unlock your magic panel (book), and give you runes to cast your first spell, air strike. Talk to him and he will give you more runes but once you have 25 of each he will stop. Simply drop and repeat. Cast air strike on the chicken and when your spell succeeds you will have finished the island. Talk to him again and he will teleport you to mainland.
