Ultimate Guide to Runescape Hybrids
Ever Wondered why you always get owned in the wild? It’s because making a good pure and learning to PK with it takes practice and skill that this guide can teach you.
Ever wonder why every time you walk into the wilderness you get absolutely owned by people several levels lower than you? It’s because they know about pures and how to make good pures and you don’t… until now.
Definition of a Pure:
A pure is an account designed for a few, usually 2-6, specific skills all contributing to one purpose. This purpose is to kill other pures and mains (see 3 definition) in the wilderness. The reason why they only train certain skills is because it cuts down on their combat level. One skill that almost all pures cut out is defence, they find it unnecessary. They also limit prayer.
Definition of a Hybrid:
A hybrid is a pure which uses a combination of attack, strength, mage, and range to fight opponents in the wilderness. They always have 1 prayer and no more, and usually no more then 52 prayer but having more prayer doesn’t exactly take away your title of hybrid.
Definition of a Main:
A main is an account with all combat stats pretty much equal. They are usually what most people have unless they are planning on pking. An example of a main would be 40 attack 40 strenght 40 defence 35-ish hitpoints 40 range and 40 mage. The reason why these accounts are terrible for pking is because there is nothing to cut down on their combat level so compared to pures they are incredibly weak for their level. A hybrid of the same combat level as that example main could have: 40 attack 40 strenght 55 hitpoints 70 range and 70 mage.
Low Level Pure:
In my experience the best way to start out your hybrid would be in f2p as a low level mage pure. These are the stats you should be getting and the order I give you is the one I find most efficient to work in f2p if you plan on pking.
Mage: 1-13 wind strike on chickens or something, it really doesn’t matter. This only takes a few minutes.
At 13 mage you are able to fire strike so you should fire strike until level 35 magic.
Optional: At lvl 16 mage switch to wind bolt.
Cast fire strike or wind bolt on zombies in varrock sewers.
So now you are still a low level pure but there isn’t much of a point in continuing with mage because mages are no longer “ownage” at these levels because you start seeing rangers with dhide. At this point you should start getting your range up.

i think xbow w/ dragon bolts is better
kbow is incredibly fast and crossbow with dragon bolts relies to much on luck for it to be a good ko weapon. Sure you can get them low and hit with a d bolt but you would need luck for it to hit high, if it doesnt then you have to wait again cuz your opponent probably ate until full after that.

that isnt a hybrid, x bow works much better for range 2hing in p2p, and range/mage is some of the worse pking ever, they will eat about full by the time you get all your ranging stuff out, my hyrbid is lv 30, 43 range, 10 attack, 60 str, 38 hp, 1 mage 42 prayer( 4,500 exp left…LOL) well work on that, the only EFFECTIVE f2p hybrid is range/2h, dont tell anyone to use otherwise, that stuff is lame.
honestly i think funnest in high lv is melee/range cause then u like dds spec high 30+-30+ then ice barrage them and finish with d scimmy like 30+. that why they fun =D

panoramic pen you’r really dumb you shouldn’t range/2h range 2h plus like 10 fir blast on you is the best becasue in case a def nub (like you)comes alnog you can blast them and k0 you get full rune =P (for f2p low lvl)

range/2her is the best for bounty hunter!!! weaken the guy who your fighting then rapid fire with range. you’ll own. i think stats for a good range/2her are:

this ok guide but i got lvl 26 23att,33str,34rang,32mage,and 33 hp and honestly i think tankers r better.
I never really go pking but I do make alot of pures but most are rubbish, this guide gave me a couple of ideas, maybe you should throw in some help with pking
range/mages are actually pretty good in F2p. IN the old wildy days, my lvl 58 range/mage got so many full runer kills…
Plus, with mage u can train without gaining any hp by cursing, i did that all the way to 70 mage, which gives you very consistent 16s as a k0 shot.
these days there are like no range/magers left, range/2h has become so popular…
I liked the combo with the range/2h hybrid although it took a bit of practice…

This guide sucks! The best pure is the melee/mage. In f2p you can have 70 str, 70 mage, 40 att, 31 prayer, and 60 hp and be under level 55 for low level bounty hunting. The mage isn’t even needed in f2p, except for defense noobs and binding. Regardless you can easily k0 your stupid mage/range hybrid because you max a 16 with fire blast, whereas this pure can hit a 23 with a 2h after prayer and pot. The mage is extremely helpful after you get into p2p and start using ancients and dds.
No offense this is a bad guide u cant drop trade this days so u need to pick up your arrows but other then that good guide
Not a bad guide but it could do with improving besides practically everyone knows how to make a pure any way why havent u included range/melee hitting 20’s at lvl 45 with r2h is scary

It Pwns with zammy strike.. using mystic might in preyer.. max hits like 20 summink almost always hitting above 15 every hit..

umm… it is an ok guide but melle is cheep and works around lvl 55 u want 60+ str 60+ range 59 mage and 60-70 hp oh yeahand 40 att but it is ok for a range/mage pure.

The fire blast right before ko with 2h in f2p won’t really work well, because it takes longer to cast and attack again than it does to eat. if you hit a 16 and they had 17 hp, they’d eat and end up with 13. then before you could hit again they’d eat another lob and have 25 hp. so whatever you do next you have to hit a 25 or higher to ko.

I will make a mid lvl pure, my range/mauler pure got 10 def becasue of a connection los on runescape, dunno why just happened so now im a blackranger/maul. still pure coz i dont have over 25 def, i did\’nt even lvl in cb.

My berserker pure: Jentlemen. 90 str, 69 att(getting 75), 82 hp, i think 65-ish range(getting 70 for dhide), 45 def( for rune+zerkhelm), 82 mage(dt aint done tho, too lazy) and 43 pray(might get 52 for smite) i get good killz but recently i lost my corrupt warhammer because i was in a net cafe on a fail pc and i didnt know d scim kept over the hammer

This guide isn’t half bad FOR 2007. Guys, really, look at the date of when this was made. It was oldschool pking, not pking in Varrock. Idiots, there were no AGS’s or Dclaws back then. 2009-2010 Pkers, how lame can they get.
Here’s a guide on hybriding. Much more general, but it gets to the point. This doesn’t show you HOW to Hybrid Pk, this is to show you how to START a Hybrid Pker.
Hybrids are PKers who have mage along with melee and or range with them. The point of a hybrid is to raise the following skills (not all the skills you can raise, just at least these ones to make it a “hybrid”): attack, strength, range, mage
Note that you can also get prayer and defence (BUT NOT TOO HIGH OF A DEFENCE LEVEL, I suggest leaving it as 1, or quest your defence so you may get 45 defence with barrows gloves -called berserker pure-) The point of a hybrid is to alternate attack styles, depending on the situation. You freeze them with ice burst/blitz/or barrage, then switch to range (to take down his HP faster), and then onto melee for the KO. If needed, you freeze him again with the spells mentioned earlier.
Hybrids are mainly made for P2P, not F2P. F2P hybrids aren’t often made/used, because there’s really no good freezing spell for mage and no super KO weapon for range and melee. To “make” a hybrid, I highly suggest you become a member. Good luck.
Pretty nice guide, but never get higher than 75 attack on a 1 defense pure. You might be 99 attack and 99 strength at only 95 combat, but a zerker (45 defense) with barrows gloves, vengeance, a fighter torso, and even possible turmoil, will rip you to shreds.

well, this guide sucks xD.
its nice he wants to explain what a pure/hybrid is but jeeze..
first of all, most common prayer for pures is 31, so u can boost your strength, after that is 44 for boost range/protect.
and if u want to train magic, dont waste runes on combat..
use confuse/weaken tot train it, that way u dont waste ur combat on hitpoints cuz ull be gettin plenty of melee and range.
and when its 46, u should make steel bars with superheat item.
that way u can make some money tu.
btw: for melee pures i recommend the seagulls in port sarim as they dont really hit u bad and they got more hitpoints then chickens.
only range when u got enough money, try to buy sum bronze arrows and go train on barbarians, they are weak to ranged attacks.
in my opinion, the best hybrid acc= 40 att 70 str 1 def 1/31/44 pray 75 ranged 75- magic.
i got a 31 pray meself =) .

TBH, I have a range/melee/mage hybrid. Which is what i love to use. Quick Switching.
I use xBow, Dragon Bolts (e)*, DDS and Barrage. im 94mage, 89 range, 60 attack, 1 def, 52 prayer, 92 strength and 94hp.. Thats the best stats. dont get higher than 60 attack. Because if you get 70 attack. its a Whip pure. and 75 attacking is usally called an AGS pure or Godsword pure.
50 attack and high hybrid stats. is called a Gmaul Rusher/Pure/hybrid account.
low attack like 40 or something like that. below 50. is an obby maul hybrid/pure.
Nuff Said. Range Tankers and Hybrids own ALL. in PK.

OMFG this is so fail, i’m going to make one, that’s boss. i made 12 MAXED p2p hybrids for friends, i can make anyone one for $100 in a month, with a min of 50mil on it. my in-game RS name is iiPker. it’s my new hybrid, i won’t get it maxed for awhile. it’s jsust a low lvl p2p pker.
