What You Should Know About RuneScape Merch Clans
Pros and cons of using merch clans.
Merch Clans
For those who do not know what Merch Clans are, they are large groups of people who select an item, buy tons of the item for max price in the Grand Exchange, causing the item to rise tremendously in price. The clans then dump the item when the owner says to, causing the item to drop a lot in price. The clan supposedly makes a lot of money while causing the item to be unsteady in price for quite awhile.
There is a lot of fuss going on about merchanting clans, as many people feel that they are corrupting prices, scamming, and ruining the economy. This is absolutely true, so why do people use these?
Many new players think that these clans can make them rich, because of the advertisers false promises. In reality, these clans tell people to continue to tell players to keep buying while they slowly dump their items, making quite a large profit.
Why they are bad
1. Merchanting clans corrupt prices of items
2. Merchanting clans scam low-leveled players
3. Merchanting clans cause an item to be difficult to buy
4. Merchanting clans tell players to use auto-talkers to advertise, which is an offense that can have a huge penalty, such as a ban or mute.
How they can be stopped
1. The Grand Exchange has item price caps and caps on how many items you can buy every 4 hours, but unfortunately, this has not stopped most merchanting clans
2. Reporting auto-typers for use of bots
3. (my favorite) Buying items along with the merch clans, or keeping large supplies of commonly merched items, and dumping a few days after the clan starts merching. This results in the clan members becoming discouraged and leaving the clan, plus you can make a large sum of money from it.
A brief summary
Merch clans are unfair, but you can use them to make a large profit. They support rule breaking and are ruining the game.
