Fighting:

Fighting other people comes down to a few things:

1. Your Attack Points -  The more attack points you have, the more chance you have of succeeding in your attack against another player.
2. Your Loot – The better loot you have, again the more attack points you’ll have. (See Shiny, Shiny Loot)
3. Your Family Size – The more people you have in your family, up to 501, the more people you can use in fights and as long as you equip them all with a weapon, defensive item and vehicle the more attack points you will have.

How Do I Know If I’ll Win A Fight?

The answer is you don’t. However, you can get a pretty good idea by checking out a few of the persons stats before attacking. Things to look for:

1. The ‘Fights Won’ to ‘Fights Lost’ ratio – If a player has won 100 fights but has lost 500 fights then the chances are this is a weak, easy target. Likewise, if they have won 400 fights and lost only 100 chances are they are quite tough.
2. The Size Of Their Mafia – If their mafia is bigger than yours then chances are you’ll loose the fight. If your mafia is bigger, chances are you’ll win.
3. ‘Successful Heists’ to ‘Times Robbed’ ratio – This is pretty much the same as fights won to fights lost. If they have a lot more successful heists than times robbed chances are they are a tough cookie.
4. ‘Mobsters Whacked’ to ‘Deaths’ ratio – If someone has a lot more deaths than kills chances are they are a weaker target. If they have a lot more kills than deaths then it is probably better to steer clear.

 It is important to remember that these are only guidelines, it is possible that these stats may be misleading. The truth is, you really don’t know until you’ve tried.

Robbing:

 Getting robbed constantly is a huge problem at lower levels in mafia wars. There are a few things however that you can do to try and avoid this happening to you:

1. Make sure your mafia size is equal to your level - Robbing works differently to normal fights. When you rob someone or are robbed yourself you can only take an amount of people to help equal to your level. So if you are level 30 you can take 30 people, level 128 you can take 128 people etc. If you have less mafia members than your level then you will be seen as an easy target.
2. Make sure your mafia has the best items – Your mafia can only be as good as the items that they are carrying, without items your mafia is useless. Make sure you keep the balance between buying more property and ensuring that each of your mafia has an attack item, defensive item and a vehicle.
3. Protect your property - Protecting your property doesn’t cost too much, and it will save you a lot of money for each time you are robbed. Believe it or not, this also sometimes acts as a deterrent to other players.
4. Fight and win easy fights – By doing this you increase your win to loss ratio. This will act as a deterrent to potential robbers.
5. Don’t spam attack the same person – Some mods such as ‘attackspree’ use all of your stamina in one click on the same person. These attacks come up in the persons news feed and can provoke them to call in their mafia to attack and rob you back.
6. Don’t Hitlist other people – When you hitlist someone, once the hit is carried out your name will be shown to the person the hit was issued on in a message saying something along the lines of, ‘Don X earned the bounty placed on you by Don Y’ Don Y being you. This is something else that will provoke the victim into calling in their mafia to attack you.
7. Don’t rob other players - If you don’t rob other people, you are less likely to be robbed yourself.
8. Level! – Higher level mafia players only rob for revenge. This is because the xp gain is a lot higher from fights and also in fights you have a chance to earn valuable loot items.
9. Don’t buy expensive property - When you are less than level 100 or have less mafia than your level, it is wise to not buy any property better than Valu-marts. Anything from Valu-mart and lower will be seen as not worth the stamina by someone who is robbing for money. A 5-star hotel from someone else will yield more money than your Valu-mart. If however you still have robbing problems with lesser properties, you could just resort to buying undeveloped space. This is however a very last resort and doesn’t come very highly recommended.
