Advice for Trade War Vets

More tips and tricks for the veteran player of Trade Wars.

Buying Gen Torps, creating and then blowing up planets with Atomic Detonators to gain points seems clever.

Buying fighters and shields would be a lot more sensible.

The player with the most points might be far weaker than the one with half that number.

Never forget, for Good players, points mean nothing. In fact, being number one in the standings is a mistake.

The player who has only killed Ferrangi to get a Fed Com then avoids fighting, saves thousands of fighters and turns.

Mid game, s/he is way down on the point ’standings’, but can defeat the other players easily.

This is because Planet building should never stop and always take priority.

Fire played the ‘perfect’ game. He was ranked number four in a five person match, yet had a million fighters.

Once you have strong planets in a Sector, you Transwarp them to other Sectors and use them to populate new planets.

Once a Volcanic or Mountainous has reached it’s maximum level of fuel there’s no need for colonists. Leave a handful, Twarp it as a ’sector guard’, and move the bulk to another planet.

The player with the most colonists is very often the winner, (unless s/he totally doesn’t know how to play).

Sure, it is the definition of boring to ferry colonists, but bite the bullet.

Log on a dozen times a day, ferry for X turns, do something else, log off.

When Colos dry up you’ll be glad you spent so many turns ferrying colonists.

While others scrap the last 13 from Terra, and waste time and turns, you are just finishing another Sector.

At end game, having no less than four full protected Home Sectors, BBB ports upgraded so making 1M is no prob. Is how you win.

Whatever your strategy, remember this; the only place to get colonists is Terra.

Whomever has taken the majority of colos can planet build. The only way to have wealth and power is in real estate.

I’ve played many games and someone has been in the number one slot virtually forever and I’m number four, almost ignored.

But I have five built Sectors, five maxed BBB ports, and when I go to Invade, no one expects it, nor can answer, for I have 1M fighters, and my closest rival 90k.
