Tradewars: Games People Play
More random tips for the absolute newbie playing Tradewars.
This is another in the series Random Tips for Absolute Newbies. They are not in any real order so it doesn’t matter in what sequence you read them.
Go to www.stardock.com or www.vulcan-forge.com or www.blue-ninja.com…any Tradewar Server and find a Universe that has just been banged. You want to be one of the First Players in a Game. Always go for low turn small universe games. I’m talking about those 250 turn / 1000 Sector Universe Games.
These are games played by people. Scripts are useless, complicated maneuvers don’t work. It is people playing against people. It is where you want to be.
If you can’t find any just banged Universe, check the low turn games that have been up for a while to see if anyone is playing. Many times people will start, lose interest, and although there may be five or six players listed, they haven’t been on for awhile. Check the log.
If for the past few days you see nothing in the Daily Log save; “the Ferrangi Moved…”, no one is playing, so log on. You might be the only one in the game for awhile, others might join, if not, use the game for practice.
Play every game whether you are alone or in a group with the same awareness. Learn how to use your turns wisely. In low turn games with Standard Settings, (always check the specs for ships, planets etc. to avoid error), your first 250 should; trade enroute to the Stardock, trade in your Cruiser for a Merchant Freighter, buy a Density Scanner with the “change”, go to Sector One, trade around Fed Space, find a couple of possible Home World Sectors, and either buy those 35 extra holds (at one time) from Terra before you log off, or within your first turns on day two along with a Gen Torp.
If you don’t end your turns on the Second Day planet building, you have lost.

Ill have to go check it out. I am not into games much but sounds worth the look.
I will have to bring this to the attention of my grandkids. Thanks for the info.
It’s one of those games that requires other human players
so is better than those ‘machine’ ones.
