Do you think you know how to play this great online game?
Travian is a very fun online game. You play it against real human players and the game never stops even if you don’t log in for a day or more!
It’s a bit hard specially for beginners and this guide is here to help you choosing the right tribe and using it to your best advantage. The goal of the game is to dominate the travian world by being the #1 Player!
What tribe should you choose? This question is the hardest! It all depends on your play style, but I recommend you to choose the Romans. Why them and not anyone else? First because later on you will need to leave your game idle because it will take some days until the constructions are complete. With the Romans you can build 2x faster because you can build 2 buildings at a time!
Now the army. Imperians are the best units in the entire game. Silly! You might say… No, I am not. Later on you are going to need the most efficient soldier per cereal production and at this point the Imperians rule!
The only thing you should focus on is just on resources production. Forget about war, unless you need to steal resources from your enemies.

You may have sitters while you are still active.
You may have a dual account, meaning that multiple people share the same account. This is okay as long as none of those people have or play another account on the same server.
Unless your playing as a team its pointless to play the game the top players are all teams
The advantage of spending real world money ends up pointless unless you plan to spend hundreds of dollars as the others playing as a team does not run out of their advantage

Not true, whilst having a team playing your account offers obvious advantages, this does not guarrenty success. As long as you can log on at various intervals during the day (Travian works from my office, so i can check up on my village as frequently as is needed) you should be fine. If not, find somone (preferably in a different time zone) who’s active, befriend them, and make them your sitter. Playing solo, with just one sitter, i’ve found it’s perfectly possable to reach those high ranks long term, even if you don’t hit no 1, the point of the game isn’t to get there, the point of the game is to have fun doing so.
Travian is by far the WORST game I’ve played on-line in a long time. As many others have mentioned once a server gets up and running (read as over 2 weeks old) there is no way for any casual gamer (read as someone not willing to pay for Gold) to have any fun. You get farmed from the get go (read as GRIEVED)! It was no fun what-so-ever. I gave it a month of my time, playing casually ever day but using up all my resources and turns. Needless to say all I accomplished was giving other players things (not by choice) and having my crops destroyed and my army decimated. It is by far the WORST game to play casually. DO NOT PLAY TRAVIAN!
Ploute, you were obviously unlucky with where you were placed. I started a month after server 6 had got going in my first game, i’ve never paid for any gold and now i find myself in the top 700 players and an alliance currently at position 12.
I have 4 villages and i’ve not been raided in months, Our alliance has a heartland with around 30 villages in it which basically makes us untouchable.

Travian is one of the best games i’ve ever played, and much much more complicated (diplomacy, strategy, communication, etc) than this guide lets on. It does require a certain amount of luck with initial placement, but in order to survive you have to be active and very much a team player. It’s all about teamwork, coordination and working with your alliance – hence why it can be once of the best games out there.
It actually took two days for me to go from an active player (log on three times a day) to inactive. Some guy attacks with a huge force (which I was used to, for some reason that’s fun to those people) but uses a catapult and destroys buildings that took me over 1 week to build. The next day my two storehouses are destroyed so I can only build low level buildings, and of course, the guy keeps attacking. I have no chance to rebuild so I delete all my buildings and kiss travian goodbye.
Horrible game. If anyone paid money for it, that’s funny as your progress can be wiped out by some little kid in a matter of two days.
