Pokemon Platinum Version Walkthrough: Part Two
Continued from Part 1.
In the last walkthrough, we left off where Professor Rowan gave you the Pokedex.
Now head out of the Lab, and Dawn/Lucas will be waiting for you. Professor Rowan will also go to the door and call you. He will talk to you and then give you a TM27. TMs can teach your Pokemon a certain move, but can only teach it once. The TM will automatically go into the TM/HM pocket of your bag. The TM27 is a move called Return. The move Return gains power the more friendly your Pokemon is with you.

Dawn/Lucas will then say that they didn’t know the Professor had TMs. She/He will then wonder if the Professor was a trainer when he was young. She/He will then say that they will act as your mentor. She/He will show you the Pokemon Center and the Poke Mart. Take Pokemon to the Pokemon Center when your Pokemon is burned/frozen/paralyzed/poisoned/fainted etc. to have them restored to full health. The Poke Mart sells items like Potions and Repels. Repels will keep weaker Pokemon away for 100 steps.

Dawn/Lucas will tell you that you should tell someone that you’re going to help the Professor with his work. She/He will also tell you that you should heal up your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center before you go. Now on to the Pokemon Center!

This is your first time in a Pokemon Center, so you might need to know which person to talk to. Go to the person behind the counter and press the A button. She will ask you if you want to have your Pokemon healed. Answer YES and she will heal your Pokemon.

After you heal your Pokemon, head back to your own house. You know the way now right? Just back west and then south. Talk to your mother. She will tell you to take a quick rest. Then she will give you a Journal. It will automatically be put in the Key Items pocket of your bag. She will talk a bit more, and then your rival’s mother will come looking for him. She will give you something to deliver to him. Then your mother will say goodbye. Now you are ready to leave.

You might be tired of going back an forth between Twinleaf and Sandgem Town, but you will have to go back toward the Lab again. Go back to in between the Pokemon Center and the Poke Mart and go north. You should battle as many Wild Pokemon in the tall grass as you can, because there are a few trainers on Route 202, the way you are headed. And you might want to heal up your Pokemon before you head that way.

Dawn/Lucas will show you how to catch a Pokemon. All you have to do is watch and remember.

Just as Dawn/Lucas says, healthy Pokemon are harder to catch. It would be easier if you put it to sleep or poisoned it with a Pokemon’s moves. Then She/He will give you 5 Poke Balls. The Poke Balls will automatically be put into the Poke Balls pocket in your bag. Again, like she/he says, it’s a lot safer to go on longer trips if you have more Pokemon with you. She/He will then leave you. You should train your Pokemon a bit. Maybe until it’s about Level 9. Then you can face the other trainers. You should also catch a couple more Pokemon. At Level 8, Piplup will learn Bubble. At Level 7, Chimchar will learn Ember. At Level 9, Turtwig will learn Absorb.

Once you get past Youngster Logan, there will be a small patch of tall grass toward the west. At the end, there will be a Potion. Then Head north. You will get to Jublife City. When you walk up the steps, Dawn/Lucas will come walking up to you. She/He will take you further into the city.

As she/he takes you, you will run into a man hiding behind a lamp post. He will think that he has been unmasked when Dawn/Lucas talks to him. He will introduce himself with his codename, “Looker”. He will ask you if you have heard the words “Don’t be a thief”. Just choose yes, because it will be the same either way. He will give you a VS. Recorder. It can record a match, just like Looker said.

He will then run off. Dawn/Lucas will show you the Trainer’s School. She/He will tell you that your rival went in there earlier. Go to the Pokemon Center, heal your Pokemon, maybe save, and then go to the Trainer’s School. Talk to your rival, who will be at the back looking at the chalkboard. You will give him the Parcel, and he will give you one of the two maps in it. Once he leaves, go to the left side, and get the item. It is an X Attack.
