The number of points You win during the Game determines how much RP You will get.
• Simulation -  Up to 8 players race around a predetermined route until a number of laps have been completed. Game maker can either choose the route an start game or set it to player voting, were players vote what track They want to play. Some track maps may have several different routes, Your goal is to beat all Your opponents by finishing first.
• Explorer-  A giant map were You drive around collecting items of different colors, to collect items You simply drive over them, for each item You pick up You gain points. Different combinations will yield more points then randomly collecting them. There is three types of items normal – basic You get points for collecting, bonus – You can get items that help during racing, turbo etc. or a magnet that helps collect items an, surprise – this can be anything, blinding light, right turns left, left turns right, upside down screen, cars an many others. You play against 8 others Players. The one with the most points wins.
• Drift- In this mode, the object of the game, is not to race an come in first. The objective is to complete drifts, with out hitting walls or the 7 other players, the better they are the more points You get. The amount of points You get also is determined by angle, speed, length of drift and the drift multiply er. Once You get good a drifting You will be able to drift into drifts an gain even more points. You get more points for each connected drift the longest drift and the number of turns on the track mastered.
• Drag - 2 or 4 players line up in a quarter or half mile strip, Players must spin there tires, before the drag race, within seven second. The better burnout the better grip You get when the drag race starts. There is no automatic, Players must shift manually, and at the right time to get speed, shift to early an You can break Your engine, shift to late and You will overheat. The first racer across the finish line wins.
• Thunder Alley- Up to 20 Players race around a predetermine track with a unique car only available in this mode. Your car will burn fuel, and You will have to take pits stops at the right time or You will run out of gas and end up last. But cars will less fuel have a higher top speed an faster acceleration. In thunder alley, You have an ability to Draft the racer ahead of You to gain more speed an pass them. This comes in handy if You join a crew an have multiple teams mats race with You and You work together to win the race. You have to be perfect on this nascar type of racing, any mistake could cause a major pile up. With the lowest lap rate of 15 laps, this race could last a good 20 minutes and again any mistake could cost You any chance of a podium position.
• Mission- In this mode You have to complete different tasks to earn RP an bonus such as cars. You may have to complete certain goals like driving through check points in a certain amount of time or pushing boxes to a certain target, or racing against the computer in the syndicate. During regular game play, You will earn keys or in explorer mode, You get keys in the Bonus items, You pick up. This will allow You to unlock new missions.

As You play Project Torque, You will gain RP. You use the RP to upgrade Your Car, or buy items like magnets or turbo. If You want to win, You have to upgrade Your car. As You play You will also gain XP. Experience Points determine Your level. Like most MMOG, You gain levels to upgrade, in this case Your upgrading Your car. As You level up New parts will become available in the shop. You can upgrade almost everything on Your car from the body, engine, to Your cars Frame, to make it lighter, faster an, handle better. As You level up, You will have to take license tests, Your first test is at level 5. You must complete the tests or You will not earn XP an level up, and You will not be able to upgrade Your car.
