Race Driver: Grid by Codemasters

You’ve heard about the game, you’re hyped up about the gameplay but your still having trouble deciding whether you should but the game for your PC or not. Here’s the real review to help you out.

First up the Minimum Requirements

  1. Windows XP / Vista SP1
  2. Direct X 9c
  3. Pentium 4 @ 3.0GHz or Athlon 64 3000+
  4. 1GB RAM.
  5. Graphics Card: GeForce 6800 / Radeon X1300 or above
  6. Direct X Compatible Sound Card
  7. Dual Layer Compatible DVD-ROM Drive
  8. 12.5 GB Hard Drive Space

I have the game on PC with the following specifications

  1. Windows XP
  2. Direct X 9c
  3. Pentium D @ 2.66 GHz
  4. 512 RAM
  5. Nvdia GeForce 7300 GT

Graphics

The graphics is great! my 512 RAM with my graphics card was having trouble rendering though. The game hangs occasionally (that’s what you get when you play below minimum requirements :p)

The graphics quality is way better  than Need For Speed and GTA San Andreas. The 3D effect of the game really shows off the great angles of the cars

Story Line

None, semi linear

Play Mode

What? No story? Well, there’s the career mode where you can choose which country to race in and what race driving level do you wish to play on, hence “semi-linear” There definitely isn’t a “free roam” option since it’s like a killer race driving arcade.

Multi-Player

Multi-player is supported which can be played on LANs and over the Internet! So gather up your friends and have a rally!

Event handlers

Amateur drivers beware! Every bump and scratch on the car reflects and affects the car performance. The game has a replay feature though, so you can undo those nasty crashes!

Game play

The car handling on keyboard is a bit difficult but great on a driver game pad

So overall, I’d recommend buying and playing this game!

If you want an ass-kicking, power-steering, drift-setting race game, then this is DEFINITELY FOR YOU
