Remember the Milk
In my last post I mentioned that you should have an appropriate strategy for the online game you are playing, but this is not enough and also you should have a plan and stick to your plan. Now I will try to tell you how you can do it.
In my last post I mentioned that you should have an appropriate strategy for the online game you are playing, but this is not enough and also you should have a plan and stick to your plan.
A strategy only gives you the main idea about how you should play. A plan
tells reminds you what exactly you should do now and later on. And doing this is actually as easy as taking notes on a piece of paper. You just write down what you should do with your accumulated resources so that you won’t spend on irrelevant upgrades.
But this is online gaming we are talking about so it would be just cool to get help from online tools instead of good old paper and pen. There are various free online services which will do the job for you, and as a matter of fact I can’t really say one is better than the other. They all do pretty much the same job with some nuances, and it is all about which one makes you feel comfortable.
For me, it is the rememberthemilk. This is an online to-do list, where you write down what you should do. Clearly enough, this is a multi-purpose tool and you can create any kind of to-do list, and even share it with your friends. So if you are on a big project with budget limitations, rememberthemilk may really help you on that aspect, too. However, just let me stick to gaming aspect even though I am not sure if the creators of this service has ever had gaming in their minds.
So just open an account in rememberthemilk if you haven’t already, and start enjoying it. Assuming that you are a gamer already, I am sure you will find the menu system in the site pretty intuitive.
Remembetthemilk is essentially a to-do list, so what you are supposed to do is to make a to-do list. Consider that you want to save some resources for a major upgrade in your favorite game, but perhaps you have too many units to control and therefore always find it hard to remember what you were supposed to do. So just write it down. Write “Make the Upgrade A for the unit X10″ and specify the date when you think your resources will be ready for you. If you think you will want to repeat the task in a specific period of time, write that too. If you think the labeling system will you help you better, define some labels, too. But honestly, even though I define labels myself, it doesn’t really change anything.
One of the best things about this particular system is that you can also define importance levels for different tasks, which is really very handy. In fact, there are some very other cool things you can do with your rememberthemilk account such as integrating it with your google calendar which will perhaps provide you a better grasp on your to-do list. Or you can even choose to send yourself reminders about the upcoming task via email, or your favorite instant messenger, or even your mobile. I believe that this last option is pretty much obsolete for gaming, but if you feel like it, why not?
