Fallout Three Review

A short review of the game: Fallout 3. A lot of information about the storyline, gameplay, and some other features that make it not just your average FPS.

A lot of players in the game world like player-choice but so few games offer this adaptive and brilliant game play-style! This is where Fallout 3 comes in… Now you may think to choice are just loose branches of dialogue that still follow the same boring storyline, but no! In fallout 3 you decide a lot of things, even the fate of an entire city! The actions that you make do not just alter the environment around you, but the very way you play the game and that’s what makes Fallout 3 worth playing and replaying.

Storyline

You and your father are citizens of the infamous ‘Vault 101′. Why is it famous? Because of the saying: “Vault 101, No-one ever enters. No-one ever leaves”. Vault 101 is one vault of many others that shield the people of the world from the post-nuclear war damage. The events before you entered Vault 101 were that there has been a nuclear holocaust and the world is left in ruins. Your father somehow escapes the vault without such as a goodbye and as such, you go off and try to escape yourself only to be dragged into a Political and scientific tug of war that lets you change the future.

Game play

The vast cities and wastelands offer near infinite game play and endless hours of fun running round and encountering various different enemies. The quests offer a variety of decisions and some are just plain creepy. Fallout 3 is best played as a first-person angle although you can play it as a third-person view, even though you get plasma rifles, lunchbox bombs and many other various weapons, these will eventually need repairing which breaks Fallout 3 away from the whole ‘run and gun’ mentality. The other thing that fallout 3 has which separates it from typical shooters is the Vault-Tech Assisted Targeting System or V.A.T.S for short. What V.A.T.S does is it freezes time, lets you pick a certain target and you have a % of hitting that certain target. What the good thing about the V.A.T.S is, is that when it detects a good hit, it zooms in and in a cinematic point of view shows you the shot from a great angle, obviously watching the blood and guts spill out.

End Thoughts

Fallout 3 is great for all players new and veterans to the Fallout series. It’s a great single-player only game that you can spend hours on and have some great fun.
