Guild Wars Farming

The basics of farming for many types of goods in the online MMORPG, Guild Wars.

There are many different types of farming. You can farm for gold, materials, items, mods, and faction. The most common items that are farmed for are for the most part ectos and rare weapons, such as the Icy Dragon Sword. Kurzick, Luxon, and Balthazar faction is also amongst the most commonly farmed. In order to farm these, you must have a highly efficient method for each.

Not all of these can be farmed with equal speed by any proffesion. The most effiecient farming proffessions are the Assassin, Monk, and Elementalist classes. Warriors, Ritualists, Rangers, and Dervishs are also good farming classes, but all are good for different “runs”.

The main reason one needs specific builds is that each enemy throughout the game has different weaknesses and strengths. So enemies are weak to elemental damage while others can strip enchantments. Your skills must be as lethal as possible in order to be effective against high level foes in places like the Underworld.

For whatever you want to farm, you need a highly effective build. The build must be able to deal enough damage to be effective while also being able to absorb or prevent damage to yourself. The Permasin uses Shadowform to prevent damage while being able to output enough damage to kill your enemies. The 600 Monk on the other hand uses the damage it takes to deal damage through Holy Wrath and Retribution. This build is used with another player known as the smite, but we will get to group farming next. The 55 Monk uses items and runes to bring one’s health down so low that large amounts of damage are prevented by Protective Spirit and damage is easily healed away.

Another type of farming is group farming. The most common group farms are done in elite missions such as the Fissue of Woe, Underworld, The Deep, and Domain of Anguish. These farming runs use the strengths of various different classes and abuse skills to cause tremendous amounts of damage while being able to heal up any damage taken. These are among the most effective builds in the game and they work. Some people can get a few hundred platinum in a day with these builds, but, for our purposes, they are not what we are looking to use.

Finally there are many places to farm and almost every place in the game is farmable to a certain degree. Some places to get you started are:

-Mountain Trolls outside of Droknor’s Forge

-Vermin outside of Senji’s Corner

-Terrorweb Dryders in the Tomb of Primeval Kings

-Charr in the Nolani Academy Mission

-Hulking Stone Elementals in Old Ascalon in Hard Mode

-The Raptor Cave outside of Rata Sum

-Ice Imps in Mineral Springs for The Icy Dragon Sword

-The Underworld

-The Fissure of Woe

-Slave farrming for Elemental Swords in Nightfall

Along with these there are many, many more spots to farm. Now that you know the basics, get out there and farm!
