Mechscape: Coming Soon

Not too many people know about MechScape so I will try my best to explain the most of what I know. First off, MechScape is another MMORPG that Jagex Ltd, the creators of RuneScape and FunOrb, is currently developing. The genre of the game is sci-fi and will contain vehicles.

What about RuneScape?

Now, if your a RuneScape player, you might be think that Jagex will probably discontinue RuneScape to move onto MechScape. Well that is not what is going to happen at all. Jagex will continue supporting RuneScape for years to come. There are two independent teams where one working on MechScape and other working on RuneScape. So I can guarantee you that this is not the end of RuneScape.

So what will MechScape be like?

There is not much information on this and much of it is rumors and speculation. There is however one official concept art that was released by Jagex to MechScape World. You can find it here. Also, there was a quick Q&A that Jagex also filled out for MechScape World and is found here. Reasons behind the lack of information about the game is that Jagex Ltd. does not want the game to be hyped up before the released and disappoint members who expected more. This also keep the staff that is developing it less stressed out for content that they have promised but are having trouble in competing.

So when is the release date?

If you read the Q&A found on MechScape World, ” The game will be released when we feel it has reached maturity, as simple as that.” However, there has been statements before this that MechScape was going to be released March 2009, Q1 2009, and Spring 2009. As time passes on the date appears to be become more and more general.

So where is the official website?

The official website is http://www.mechscape.com/, but you will receive a 404 message because the game website has not been launched yet.

Where can I find more information?

As of right now the only go to place for MechScape content is MechScape World. This website is a friendly fansite but do not mistake them for Jagex Ltd.
