Swtor vs.. WoW

We all have heard the controversy.  Its something that is always a hot topic, whether your chilling in Stormwind, or on the Imperial Fleet.  Swtor or WoW?  Its a big question, with tons of opinions from each person.  Some say WoW is much better because of the graphical design and freelancing, but some say that Swtor is better because of the companions, and of course the amazing PvP.

What i mean by freelancing is this;  In World of Warcraft, you had the option to leave the starting area whenever you want.  While i played WoW(Played since Vanilla, quit after Cataclysm) I enjoyed finishing up my starting quest in the starting area, and then moving onto another starting area.  That way, i have the quest done, and I have a better advantage over the quest in Goldshire, or wherever your starting area is.  However, in Star Wars, you must wait to finish your “Class Quest”, which later on will take you to another city, where you have to level up even more, and then you get your spaceship to start exploring the galaxy.  However, there is no point in going back to a level 1 area whenever you are level 17.  The rewards nor experience will value later on.

As you can probably already tell, I am awed by Star Wars: The Old Republic.  I have only bought the game on Thursday and I have already fallen in love with it.  I love the companion system in the game.  Now I have the ability to take on more mobs(groups) and survive the fight.  With some companions, such as Khem Val, I have the ability to allow him to tank all of the damage from Heroic enemies ( Elite enemies for WoW players ) and survive the fight.  Now I will have to agree with WoW players that the art and graphics design in WoW is much brighter, and generally, lights up the game.  However, WoW is based off of fantasy and legends.  Swtor is sci-fy fantasy, however they are going to be a bit more accurate with the game since they have 6 movies made before the game was even thought about.

So to wrap this up, I’m going to give my honest opinion.  I believe, that Star Wars: The Old Republic, is NOT a better game, however, i believe that it will be a better game in the near future.  Swtor has been out for 5 months.  WoW almost 8 years.  With a little more coding, this game could be one of the best MMO’s out there on the market today.
