World of Warcraft: Finding a Guild to Call Home
There are many WoW players out there who are looking for a group of people to play with. There are some simple ways to make the process easier.
If you have found yourself with no one to talk to, or perhaps you are simply new to the game then you might be in search of finding yourself a guild to call home. Now, there are many guilds out there that will invite you if you simply ask, and many (sadly) that will invite you without you saying anything at all! Finding a guild is not a very hard challenge. What is however, is finding one that fits you. I want to give a few simple ideas on how to make your search a little more simple.
1. Run plenty of instances.
This is the #1 way to meet people and actually get to know them and also their play style. You will get to see how they react to situations and other people. You are forced into a group of at least 5 people whom a lot of the time you have never seen, or simply never played with before. Always make sure to make a note of their guilds, because wether they know it or not, they are representing their guild to you, the interested guildless searcher. If you play you character well, and are generally nice, many time people will ask about you joining or ask to put you on their friends list. They may not ask you right away to join, but a friends list add or a compliment is a good start. You should run as much as you can, because it gets your name out there!
2. Do not join a guild, just to join
As I stated before, there a many people running around who will simply invite you to their guild because they see you are not in one. If you are seriously looking for a guild of like minded people, and want people to take you seriously, just stay guildless. It shows that you are looking, and also you do not join guilds just to join. One thing you do not want to be known as is a guild hopper.
3. Be active in chat. (in the correct channels)
There is nothing wrong with talking in chat, and also asking questions. Yet again, it lets people see your name and how you speak. One thing however I can not stress enough, unless you want to be seen as one of the realm idiots, and trust me there are a lot, talk in the correct channels. People in the trade channel who are trying to market their items, do not really want to hear how the season premeire of your favorite t.v. show was. It does not take much, and it shows you are courteous, to move to another channel to chat.
4. Admit your mistakes
I know this one seems very hard, and sometimes it is because you know everyone in the party wants to beat you with a stick, but it makes you seem much more reliable. If you do something wrong, and cause a group to wipe, admit your fault and fix the problem. One thing people can not stand, including me, is someone who was seen doing wrongly, lying about what they did and then getting upset. It simply does not help you and your reputation with the people in the party really isnt going up.
These are just a few of the things you can do to help yourself find a home away from home. Remember, always be nice to everyone, even when its hard and try to play your character to its full potential.
