I have been reading quite a few forums and blog comments lately and it seems that everyone is asking how to level as quickly as possible. Let me be the first to tell you that you do not need to lay out hard earned real world money on a guide to teach you how. A little common sense and some direction is all that is required.
Quests
I don’t care what others might say questing is the way to earn experience quickly and the cash and item rewards help as well. If you want to level quickly you need to do every quest that you can find.
Look for a golden “!” on your mini map and you will find quest givers. Grab every quest that you see.
Kill Your Way To and From Quests
When you are doing your quests take the time to kill every mob along the way that is yellow or better. Even green mobs give experience and perhaps you should not overlook them either. You will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of experience that is gained simply by “mowing the grass” on the way to and from your quests.
Keep Your Quest Journal Full
Maximize your experience and play time by keeping your quest journal full. Work your way around the zone completing quests and only return when you need to repair, have to log for the day, or are out of quests. Running back and forth to turn in one quest at a time wastes time and retards your leveling speed.
Trade Skills
Your main concern is leveling and that means you need to keep moving. My suggestion is that you take skinning and one other gathering skill. This will allow you to maximize your income and leveling speed. You can always drops the gathering skills and take an actual crafting skill after you hit the level cap.
Rested Experience
Always make use of rested experience. When you are going to log for any length of time you should do it in an inn or city. Look on your character portrait for the “zzz” this means that you are in resting mode. Believe me rested experience gives a nice fat 200% bonus and is something that you should make use of to level as quickly as possible.
Leveling is World of Warcraft is easy if you follow simple common sense rules. Do not let anyone tell you that mindless grinding is faster than questing because they are mistaken. Use the mechanics of the game and these common sense tips and your leveling experience will be quite pleasant.

You are never too old to play WoW. The guild that I am in is made up of adults ranging from 21 through 60 and the few younger members that we have are all children of our members. It really is a family kind of thing but with a raiding flair.
