World of Warcraft Guild Recruiting: How to Guarantee That You Never Get Quality Players

There are a few absolute “no-nos” when it comes to World of Warcraft guild recruiting. When I say “no-nos” I don’t mean that you cannot do them only that you will cause yourself more grief in the long run.

Do your World of Warcraft guild recruiting efforts seem to be in vain? Are you constantly getting an influx of players who are blessed with questionable skills, morals, and talent? If you are I would almost bet that you are one of those guilds who constantly spam trade chat.

You might wonder why the top quality players from your server never seem to join your guild. The answer is right in front of your face. Trade chat was provided for the players of World of Warcraft to sell their wares but most bottom-of-the-barrel guilds use it for a recruiting channel. Blizzard provided a recruiting channel for our World of Warcraft guild recruiting needs but it goes all but unused.

The honest truth is that by spamming guild chat you are demonstrating to the WoW public just how low class your guild is. Look at some of the top guilds on your server. Do you ever see them recruiting in trade chat? No. That’s because they recruit by word of mouth, selective invites to guild events, and by listing their World of Warcraft guild recruiting needs in the proper places, such as the official Blizzard forum for their realm, the recruiting forum, recruiting threads on other wow sites, and on their web page.

If you want your guild to be thought of as more than pond scum you should observe how the top guilds on your server recruit and emulate them. Spamming guild chat already demonstrates to everyone that you have no respect for the WoW community at large. If you have no respect for the wow community then most people would think that lack of respect transfers to your guild members as well.

Just remember that your World of Warcraft guild recruiting efforts reflect the type of guild you are in. If you use trade chat for quick and easy guild recruiting then it is kind of like the old saying, “you get what you pay for.” If you like taking the cheap easy way to guild recruit then you are going to attract players who are looking for cheap easy handouts as well. I am sure you know the kind that we are talking about, the ones that empty your guild bank when you aren’t looking, constantly beg in guild chat, and are always looking for someone to run them through a zone.

If you were looking to join a highly respected guild would you be looking for them in trade chat? Have more respect not only for your guild and yourself but for the wow public as a whole. I guarantee that if you use trade chat as your recruiting channel you will never get quality players.
