World of Warcraft: Stratholme Live
World of Warcraft.
Recently I’ve gotten bored of my Blood elf mount. I mean, it seemed pretty cool when I first got it, but I slowly grew tired of it. I also started to notice the Undead mount more, and I kind of always liked the way horses look like in the game, so I figured I would try to get exalted with Undercity so I could get one.
I completed every quest that I knew about, starting from Deathknell, all the way to Tarren hill, and I was still only revered. So that left one thing to do. Farm runecloth. Now, at 75 reputation a stack, I would have to gather a lot. I remembered from past experiences that Stratholme had a lot of runecloth, so I figured if I farmed it once a day for a week, I would be exalted in no time!
And since I also wanted to know how much gold you get and how many items, I figured I would record everything I collected. Unfortunately I had only enough time to run the live side (The side with the Crimson Crusaders).
Before I started I made sure to get rid of all the items in my backpack (except my hearthstone) and to put all my gold in the guild bank, so I could record what I got easier. I took 40 silver because I was unsure of what the flight from Acherus to the Argent Chapel was. It turned out that I had taken too much money, so I had to lose some at the trade items vendor, and I had to find someone to take what money I had left.
I asked about, 5 people to take it, the first few people told me they didn’t want it for some reason…
I had only a hearthstone in my inventory, as well as no money, so I could record exactly what I got.
I entered the dungeon at 1:34, and quickly killed my way through the mobs.
The undead mobs were really easy to kill. All I had to do was throw Death and Decay on the ground around the spell casters, and let my ghoul attack everything, it also helped that I used Corpse Explosion a lot.
The hardest creature there was the Patchwork Horrors, but even they were easy. All I had to do was but a few diseases on them and use Death Strike to recover any lost health. And with my glyph of diseases, if a disease ever got near the end of it’s duration, I would just use pestilence, and their duration would restart.
I made sure to also kill the creatures hanging around the Fras Siabi mailbox, to make sure I got all the runecloth I could.
By then I had 7g 31s and 9c
After a lot of killing, I finally got to the Crimson Crusaders,
Killing them was a bit harder, because all of them were elites, unlike how most of the undead were non-elites, but I still managed to kill them rather easily.
I always pulled the Conjuror, so I could interrupt his spell casting when he tried to summon a water elemental, and then me and my ghoul would finish of the crimson guys who came running at us.
One of my favorite bosses in that dungeon is Timmy the Cruel. I like him because when he yells “Timmy!” it’s an obvious reference to Timmy from South Park.
So I killed him easily then continued on my way, slaughtering any scarlet crusaders in the way, making sure to loot everything including the Morning Glory Dew, which I couldn’t use. I just wanted to make sure I knew exactly what drops per average run.
I went to kill Cannon Master Willy first. Getting to him was kind of a pain, because of all the Scarlet Defenders going invincible, but I made it nonetheless.
Killing him took a little while because I would stop hitting him to kill the Scarlet people running towards me, so that they wouldn’t stack up at the end and overpower me. But in the end I killed him, and quickly made my way back so I could kill the final boss, and get out of there.
While killing my way to Grand Crusader Dathrohan I noticed a new Scarlet Crusader called the battle mage. I killed them to fast to see if they were any different then any other crusader here, but I liked how they had glowing swords, it really made them stand out form all the other crusaders here.
I made sure to also get the Medallion of Faith, just encase I ever decided to run the dead side of Stratholme.
I had 16g by then, not bad.
I had to kill my way through a few more crusaders, including Archivist Galford, and there was only one more crusader to kill. The Grand Crusader.
I entered the chamber and but on my only 2 buffs I had (Bone Shield and Horn of Winter) and I was ready. I sent my ghoul to attack him first then I came up from behind and started hitting him with everything I had, the fight took around 20 seconds, which is still a pretty long fight in WoW, when all of the sudden he changed into a big demon named Balnazzar, yet my diseases stayed on him, so I just kept hitting him over and over again. Coincidentally my playlist on my computer started playing Bodies by Drowning Pool, (Which I thought kind of suited what was going on) And I ended up killing him with Obliterate.
The whole process took a little over an hour to complete. Just think how long it would take to do this in a group
I used corpse explosion on Balnazzar to see if it worked. It did
In the end I got:
-
9 full stacks of runecloth
-
2 bags worth of weapons and armor
-
Some stuff I could hand in for Argent Dawn reputation
-
Some junk I could sell
-
2 righteous orbs
-
1 star ruby

Cool. Yeah there is a lot of good stuff to loot in there.
I solo’d it a ton of times farming for various stuff: rightous orbs, taking screen shots for a walkthrough, trying to get my deathcharger to drop off the Baron… etc… etc…
Here’s my walkthrough for Strat. Check it out and feel free to link your Strat article from my comments section.
