WoW Series 1: The Races – Alliance

First of many World of Warcraft series, describing the game. This one is about the playable races of Warcraft.

Welcome, dear reader. I’m proud to announce, that you’re reading the first of many WoW series, describing the game. I’ll start off by telling a bit about the races.

Alliance:

First off, Humans. Humans are the major race of the world on the Alliance side. They are the greatest warriors and priests, and paladins. Humans start off in the Eastern Kingdoms (as do the dwarfs, gnomes, blood elves and the undead). They start near their capital city, Storwmwind. Humans don’t have any notable racial traits, although they have sword and mace specialization, but their usually the most popular choice of race in the Alliance. That’s probably because they have many classes, making it a bit harder to chose from. They can be Mages, Paladins, Priests, Rogues, Warlocks and Warriors.

Next, Dwarfs. This race is the best hunters available in World of Warcraft (I believe, that’s because of the intense wildlife in Dun Morogh). Dwarf best racials are: Stoneform (Activate to gain immunity to poison, disease, and bleed (will also remove these types of debuffs); +10% Armor; Lasts 8 seconds. 3 minute cooldown.),Find treasure (Activate to see treasure chests on mini map – lasts until canceled – no cooldown.), gun specialization and frost Resistance. Available classes for Dwarfs are Hunter, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Warrior, Death knight. But, as i said, the most popular ones are hunters.

After Dwarfs comes Night elves. Night elves are the only Alliance race in world of warcraft, that can be druids. Most of the Night elf players are Rogues or Druids. Rouges, because of Night Elf racial traits. And they are: Shadowmeld (Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect, 2 minute cooldown), Quickness (Reduces the chance that melee and ranged attackers will hit you by 2%), Wisp Spirit (Transform into a wisp upon death, increasing speed by 75%), Exclusiveness (Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while Shadowmelded or Stealthed) and Nature Resistance (Reduces the chance you will be hit by Nature spells by 2%). Night elves can play as a Druid, Hunter, Priest, Rogue, Warrior, Death knight.

Almost the last Alliance race is Gnomes. Gnomes are great warlocks and Engineers. That’s why they have these racial traits: Escape Artist (Escape the effects of any immobilization or movement speed reduction effect. Instant cast. 1 min, 45 sec cooldown as of Patch 2.3 (was 1 min)), Expansive Mind (Increase Intellect by 5%), Arcane Resistance (Reduces the chance you will be hit by Arcane spells by 2%), Engineering Specialist (15 point skill bonus to Engineering (note, this also raises the cap by 15 at each level of Engineering)). Gnomes are fun to play with, because of their small size, or the funny dances. Gnomes can be in one of the following clases: Mage, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior, Death knight.

The last, but not the least, the Draenei (TBC+ (The burning crusade) only). The Draenei are a race of aliens, that have been chased around by the burning crusade. The Draenei are smart with jewels. That’s because of these: Gift of the Naaru (Heals the target of 170 damage over 15sec. The amount healed is increased based on the caster’s Spell Power or Attack Power, whichever is higher. This ability does not lose casting time from taking damage. 3 minute cooldown), Heroic Presence (Increases chance to hit with all spells and attacks by 1% for you and all party members within 30 yards), Gemcutting (5 point skill bonus to Jewelcrafting (note, this also raises the cap by 5 at each level of jewelcrafting)), Shadow Resistance (Reduces the chance you will be hit by Shadow spells by 2%). The Draenei are the latest race in the Alliance, and is picked on a lot because of their looks. The Draenei can be Hunters, Mages, Priests, Paladins, Warriors, Shamans, Death knights. Draenei are the only Alliance race, that can be shamans, so that’s the most popular pick for the Draenei.
