Learn How to Fly Aircraft for Free

This is the best way to learn about flying an aircraft without paying a lot of money on training.

Flying an Aircraft has become my wildest dream since I was a kid. But of course, it’s very impossible for my family to afford an aircraft for me just to fulfill my dream. Even when I have enough money to buy an aircraft, it will take a long and expensive training to be able to fly an aircraft well.

Personally, I prefer training alone by reading manual and watching tutorial videos. But, if I did that on a real plane, there would be a big chance that I would crash my plane or worst, died. So, I’ve finally come up with a solution for this : A Simulation.

But, all of the Flight Simulator softwares like Microsoft Flight Simulator are too expensive for me so I decided to find a free Flight Simulator on the Internet. I’ve finally found out about one software called FlightGear that seems to fulfill my need. Not only it’s free but it’s also has a Knowledge Base on Wiki.Flightgear.org which gives a complete information and tutorials about all different aircraft and how to control them.

Aircraft

A wide variation of aircraft are available in this software and all of them are based on real world. From a Chinook helicopter to a big Boeing 733, they’re all able to be controlled by you. Different Aircraft have different ways to fly so you will not be bored to try out every aircraft that’s available.

The interior and cockpit of aircraft in this simulator looks the same as the real one. This will make your flying experience will match the one in real world.

Controls

The control of aircraft in this simulator is exactly the same as it’s in the real world. That’s why this is a good way to train before attempting on a real aircraft. Wiki.Flightgear.org will provide you with complete information about the control and you can also try to chat with other fellow Pilots there.

The control of a Helicopter and Plane would be very different and they’re a completely different flying skills. You can use your keyboard and mouse to control them but it’s recommended to have an Aircraft joystick to feel the real atmosphere of flying an aircraft.

Graphics

FlightGear use an advanced 3D graphics. This features a realistic looking cloud, night lightning and even a sunset. You can watch the sun glare changes as you turn your aircraft around. User can choose to fly in a beautiful morning or at night where the light will looks good. Rain and Snow are also available in this software and you can feel the experience of flying in a realistic looking weather.

Systems

FlightGear use a 3D Surrounds sound system which make the engine sound, ambient sounds dynamically as you travel with your aircraft. There’s also a dynamic minimap feature to know where you are and where you are going.

Real World Aircrafts Attempt

After training with this software, I recommend that you should only attempt to fly a light and easily controllable aircraft so you will only have a small chance to crash. You should also be accompanied by an experienced pilot to prevent unwanted things to happen.

These are the planes and helicopters that are the easiest to fly :

Cool! I’ve read some of those manuals before, and I really do think that Flight Sim Works way better. I prefer Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, and flying the Boeing 777. For some reason I think it is the easiest.
