Motorstorm Pacific Rift: the Three Heavyweight Vehicles
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift was a highly anticipated game for Playstation three owners. Here’s the lowdown on the three final vehicles.
If you haven’t read my first two guides, Motorstorm Pacific Rift: The Two Lightweight Vehicles and Motorstorm Pacific Rift: The Three Middleweight Vehicles, you might want to check them out now for the lowdown on how to get the first two vehicle weight trophies, the Lightweight Trophy and the Middleweight Trophy. Like the Lightweight and Middleweight Trophies, a player needs 50 wins in heavyweight vehicles to win the Heavyweight Trophy. This may seem like quite a tough task, but with the help of this guide you’ll be on your way to completion in no time at all. Just remember, picking the right type of vehicle for each race is critical.
Mudplugger
The mudplugger is the lightest of the three heavyweight vehicles, and looks rather like the racing truck and is more or less as tough as it in terms of collisions. That, however, is where the similarities end. The mudplugger has considerably more power than the racing truck, but is also heavier. The mudplugger is a pretty slow vehicle, but can power through water very effectively. It can also take quite a collision, and can compete with the big rigs and monster trucks if they are engaged tactfully. The mudplugger handles best on mud, as the name would hint at.
Big Rig
The big rig was the biggest of all the vehicles in the original Motorstorm game, set in Monument Valley. That crown has been lost in Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, to the monster truck, but the big rig is still a vehicle to be feared. What it lacks in raw speed and acceleration, it more than makes up for in strength and momentum. When the big rig gets moving, it is extremely difficult for anyone or anything else to stop it. This vehicle powers through the deepest waters with ease and is more than a match for any other vehicle type, barring a well-prepared monster truck.
Monster Truck
The monster truck is the heaviest and biggest vehicle type in Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and this vehicle uses its size to its advantage very well. This vehicle is capable of going into a collision with any vehicle. Occasionally, monster trucks will get flipped by other vehicles, but that is very rare and only takes place when the monster truck is already off balance. Big rigs are very effective at ramming monster trucks, but monster trucks can ram back just as well. The monster truck powers through water, like the other heavy vehicles, and has excellent terrain handling. It has a relatively low top speed, but it has average acceleration which allows it to overtake other heavy vehicles at the beginning of a race.
