I play guitar hero world tour and I am good enough to sing three part harmonies. In fact, I often have to control myself when singing because I want to sing the higher part.

Rock band is constently adding content, you can get just about every song ever made if you hook up your console to the internet.

I believe that you are right in what you say. It is just another video game. Different songs and different visuals but the same old routine like Rockband and Guitar Hero. Content may be different but we need to search for something that can played indefinitely and is always updating. Rock on for gaming of the future yo

This game is unique among music games for its library of songs (which many think are some of the best in popular music,) and for its production value (which this writer, even when drawing a comparison between it and another band-centric music game, has failed to notice at all.)
These elements won’t have the same value to all players, and everyone is entitled to opinions based on their tastes, but this game is outstanding in its genre and does deserve credit for that fact.
If you are the type of gamer that doesn’t see a difference between the presentation of this game and, say, Guitar Hero Aerosmith or Metallica, then it won’t be worth your money.

In all fairness I would say this game will reach a lot of people that have never purchased a video game before and they will thoroughly enjoy it. Of course those people probably wont read reviews at gamer sites either so the hell with it your right.
