The Sims 3: Review

A review of the recently released top seller Sims 3, developed by Electronic Arts.

Old or young - with or without interest in computer games – almost everyone has heard of the game Sims. The series have become a phenomenon in the world of gaming and have made many non-gamers to spend time with their computers. They game may best be described as a simulator, covering everyday activities. The Sims will experience same everyday problems that we humans do, for example, to earn money, work out, make a career and get the family life working. It may seem like a boring idea of a game, but game series are unique and have been proved to be a bestseller. One possible explanation is the possibility to play in different ways. Some focus on the social game, while other focus on decorating the house, and so on. Neither of the player categories will be disappointed in this game.

Customising Your Sims

The process of creating and designing your Sims has become easier, but at the same time more powerful and giving more variety, changing each part of your Sim. For example, you can change the shape of the entire mouth and details, like the under-and upper lip separately. The Sims weight and shape be modified, including two checks. The personality will be formed by gaining up to five properties, such as the maverick, flirtatious, workaholic, and so on. Compared to Sims 2, the system has become more complicated and will force the player to think more of the choices the Sim will have. It is therefore more variable play and and the Sim will have plenty of features. For example, some Sims may be disturbed by a object while the other Sims wont.

Like before, the clothes may be modified by shoes, bottom, top, accessories and/or whole sets. The clothes and accessories may be changed style, color, patterns, and so on. This is of course also possible with many objects, such as furniture and floors. As before, there is also the availability to buy thing to furnish the Sims house and/or go to a construction mode for architecture changes or designing your own house completely.

Changes

One of the bigger news in Sims 3 is that the Sims now may move around freely in the. Activities previously performed at home, such as social activities, may now be performed in the city. This will make the social side of the game more interesting. For example, the Sims can visit the neighbour or learn new things outside the home. The Reward system has also become more organic and promotes these kind for interactions.

Another major change from the previous game is the other Sims life interacting in the background. This may be a problem, as your Sims may make drastic changes on their own, like changing jobs, having children, get a new wife or husband. Some may not like these effects changing the planned pattern. All though this future may be turned of, it may be more interesting letting them become somewhat more organic and making the game more unpredictable.

The Sims has been criticized for being materialistic. Owning things seems to be everything. This has been somewhat changed in Sims 3 with the growing importance of social interactions. All though not perfect, this is at least a step in the right direction for future releases.

Summary

As said before, the Sims series is a real winner. It’s a unique that everyone can enjoy. Some more than other. Electronic Arts seems to listen to its customers, constantly changing the game to the better. And thus, Sims 3 is the best game of the series and will probably be an even bigger top seller than the previous games. So if you want a unique game with big variety, buy The Sims 3
