Spore Review

This is a spore review.

What is the game spore like? Well, this is my opinion on this extremely fun and creative game by Electronic Arts.

First of all I will talk about the customization. The customization is simply astounding, I have never seen such good customization for any game, it beats the Sims by far then some more. First thing is the creature customization. I love how you can change his spine and manipulate his body to fit your preferred structure. Then there is hundreds of parts you can customize your creature with. First you can add his arms an legs and manipulate every single joint. Then there are hands, feet, and then tails/details, eyes, weapons, almost everything you can think of. Then you can use previous made paint jobs or you can create your own with three layers. One of my favorite things about this is what ever you chose decides the stats, abilities, life style, etc. Then there’s the vehicle customization. This is kind of similar to the creature customization. You select a body (or several) then you add wings, weapons, cock pits, the works. The painting is the same except you can choose to paint each part manually. The building customization is exactly the same except instead of wings and cockpits there’s windows and doors. Another cool thing is that you can customize planets. You can paint them, add designs, and add things, change landscape, raise/drop land and more. The customization is amazing and I suggest just buying the game because of the creative opportunities.

Next we will move on to the game play. This games game play isn’t the most amazing but it has a blend of many different game types. The game consists of 5 stages. The first is the cell stage, it is kind of like an old arcade Pack man game but more advanced. You advance your sell creature buy eating smaller cells and avoiding the big ones. The more creatures you eat the more part’s you unlock. Next there’s the creature stage. This is kind of an role playing game. You explore the world befriending other species or destroying them and unlocking new parts. The game play at this stage isn’t solid but it’s a neat concept. Thirdly you have the tribal stage. This is like a very simple real time strategy. You have your tribe that you control and you must destroy or befriend the other camps. There isn’t much to this but it can be fun. After that there’s the civilization stage. This is exactly like the tribal stage except there’s bigger wars. That means more advanced towns and thus bigger explosions. Lastly there’s the space stage. This is the best stage because it has the most replay ability. There are over a billion planets to explore, hundreds of empires and a lot of opportunities. There are several things to do. There are your civilizations main missions. Then there are hundreds of other missions for other civilizations. A very interesting thing is the spice trade. This is like a stock market; you buy different spices at different prices then sell them for more money. There are upgrades to get for your ship, and extremely large bombs. I love how you can be social, or destructive and different tools for each side. There is many more to do then I have listed so the space stage makes up for lack of game play in other stages. The last thing I want to touch up on is the content sharing. Even though this game isn’t on-line you can download other people’s creations and incorporate it with your game. It is fun to go to war with your friend’s empire.

This is all I am going to talk about. If your thinking why I am not talking about graphics or sound is because I don’t believe they matter to identify a good game. Although they are both average for this day in age and keep up to today’s standards. I would give this game 8.5 out of 10. This was my review and I hoped you enjoyed it.
