Sonic Heroes: The Closest Game to the 2D Sonic Adventures

The adventure continues with Sonic Heroes, the closest 3D game.

Sonic Heroes is a game that was released on the Playstation 2, the Xbox and the Gamecube.

Sonic Heroes contain 12 main characters, 4 teams, and 3 characters in each team. Team Sonic contains Sonic, Knuckles and Tails. Team Dark contains Shadow, Omega, and Rouge. Team Rose contains Amy, Big, and Cream. Team Chaotix contains Espio, Vector and Charmy.

The game shows amazing visuals, although the camera is not really good. It may work well when you are speeding through stages at top speed, but when there’s a bump in the road, the camera might not obey the way you command it to, by moving between 1st person view and the normal view.

The Playstation 2 and Xbox Editions of the game seems to be less detailed than the Gamecube port of the game, even though it was the first version published. On all games the Multiplayer Mode graphics are less amazing.

The game play of the game is colour-coded, yellow screens indicate you need a flying type character, example: Tails or Cream, red screens indicate you need a power type characters, such as Knuckles or Vector. Or the speed type character, like Sonic or Shadow. In the beginning, switching characters might take a while to get used to, but it quickly gets easier. Although speed type areas can be played through by any type of character, using the speed type will decrease your time at the end.

There are a 28 stages that have a storyline in each of the teams, stages stay the same besides the slight differences. Team Rose seems to be a lot easier, Team Sonic is based on speed, Team Dark is more challenging and Team Chaotix follows a mission on every stage. Eggman appears to be the enemy, but no one knows who the real enemy is.

The game is easy to pick up and play, the only complaints are that the camera doesn’t work properly and that the older editions of Sonic Heroes seems to be better than the newer editions.
