How to Transfer Media to Your Ps3
This can be quite troublesome but a certain program makes all this so much easier.
Sure, it is very easy to put music onto a USB memory stick, insert it into your PS3 and then transfer the music. However, when it comes to large files like movies the transfer may take some time.
Converting the movie into a smaller file won’t help because conversion takes even longer. So what about not transferring it at all? “Orb” lets you do this. Simply type Orb into Google and the first result should take you to their website where you can click “download” and go through the installer.
You will need to create an account on Orb, which is free. Check that you have a wi-fi connection and go to Videos on your PS3. Orb should appear as a media server on your PS3. Back on your PC you can add folders to the list from which your PS3 can stream. Right-click the Orb icon in the Task Tray while Orb is running and click Configuration. Then go to the Media tab where you can click Add to add folders to the list so that they will be shown on your PS3.
On your PS3 in the Videos section press X to the Orb media server and browse through your folders. When you find your video you can play it. No converting; Orb automatically streams it as MPEG-2, no copying; by streaming the movie is temporarily saved and deleted as you watch it.
This also works with music and you can copy music folders permanently to your PS3 via this method. I would not recommend transferring videos because they usually fail and would take a few hours assuming the length of the movie is average and you have an average connection speed.
