Minecraft: Tips to Finding Diamond
Diamond is an important resource in Minecraft. You can make tools, weapons, and even armour with it. This guide will help you locate diamond.
Diamond is most commonly found quite deep in the ground. The method I use when digging into the ground is a ratio of 2:1. For every two spaces I dig horizontally I go one block down. This makes a nice staircase later if you use stone half-steps. Dig until you find bedrock. Bedrock is black with some flakes in it. If you’re not sure if it’s bedrock, try mining it with your pick. If it hasn’t disappeared in about 10 seconds then it is bedrock. Once you are here, go back up your mine 14 blocks. This is where diamonds are most abundant.
The best method for looking for the diamond is the rule of three’s. Start by digging a hole, to horizontally in a straight line. It should be 1 block wide and 2 blocks tall. Dig for a while. If you aren’t successful, then back up out of your newly dug hole and move over 3 spaces. By moving over three spaces, you will see completely new blocks when you mine. Say you moved over only 2 blocks and mined, one of your side walls would have already been seen from your other mined area. Moving over 3 spaces mean that you see new blocks without leaving any unknown block between. Diamond looks the same as coal an iron except for its light blue colour.
Diamond makes the best tools. A diamond pickaxe will allow you to mine over 1,200 blocks before breaking. A diamond sword will deal 5 hearts of damage, killing monsters in 2 swipes. You can make a solid block of diamond by crafting a 3×3 square of them in the crafting menu.
