Mario Kart 7 is the first 7th entry in the Mario Kart series (obviously) and is the first Mario Kart title for the Nintendo 3DS. The gameplay is very similar to the previous entries in the series but manages to mix in old gameplay elements that have been absent from the more recent entries, the most notisable addition is the coins that can be picked up during the race. Each coin will give you a gradual speed boost (up to 10 coins) however if you get hit or fall of an edge then you will lose coins and therefor speed. This makes for some very interesting races, espcially when playing with friends.
Is the 3D good?
As with nearly all first-party Nintendo games the 3D on the games is fantastic and really does make a difference in judging distance and speed.
Levels
The game has 18 levels not including levels for Vs and Coin battles. These include 9 classic tracks and 9 new tracks. Although this may not seem like a lot I can assure you that there are plenty of hidden routes and shorcuts to discover, not to mention that you will likely play on each track at least 3 times as you play through the different difficulties to unlock more racers.
The levels are well balanced so the difficultly curve is not too great.
