An article which compares the two games, League of Legends and Defence of the Ancients. The game explores both games positive and negative factors as well as a look into how both games have developed in the E-Sports community.

so for those of you are unfamiliar with the term “MOBA” and are indeed wondering why would I read an article written by this guy who I don’t know from God knows where about something I don’t even understand? Well a MOBA is a type of game, a “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena” to be precise. For those of you who still don’t know what that is then maybe this isn’t the best article for you to read, however for those of you who want to how a MOBA works please let me know and I will write an explanation article on demand. Now for those of you still reading i think it’s safe to say you’re all fans of MOBA’s and probably play them, so what are the most popular MOBA’s on the market right now? Well League of Legends (LoL), Heroes of Newearth (HoN) and Defence of the Ancients (Dota) but this article will focus on Dota 2 and League of Legends.

Since its release in October 2009 League of Legends has rapidly grown into one of the most popular MOBA’s out there and has a huge E-Sport following in America, Europe and now Asia. With over 11million active players the League of Legends community and player database has surpassed that of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. The success of League of Legends can be put down numerous factors which are a testament to the great job that Riot has done with League of Legends.
