Top Five Real Time Strategy Games

I have played many real time strategy games since I was a kid. But out of all the real time strategy games I have played these are the ones that I spent the most time and enjoyed playing the most.

5. Starcraft 2
Now you maybe wondering why Starcraft 2 is 5th on my top 5 real time strategy games list. I do not blame you the game itself was very fun to play the missions and some skirmishes with the AI, However I enjoy playing games like Starcraft 2 with a friend I know. You may ask why not play with other people online? That reason is simple to avoid people who either cheat the system, or act childish when they start to lose. Those 2 reasons sum it up why I chose to play it as much, since most my friends did not play starcraft 2 much. When the next 2 parts come out Starcraft will probably move up a rank or 2. Until then Starcraft 2 will stay as my number 5 spot.

4. Age of empires 3
Age of empires 3 was fun for me to play but i just could not get into the game as much as other people did. After the missions I could not play with people, so I either had to find maps and play by myself or just play skirmishes. So after awhile it got boring due to running out of maps to play and lack of challenge. So I moved on to another game that in my opinion was more interesting at the time.

3. Age of Mythology Titans expansion pack
The reason why this game in my opinion took number 3 spot on my top 5 real time strategy games was simple. I was able to find people to play online with. That and my cousin and I took turns beating maps we made for each other to beat. So as you can see having someone else make maps for you to play helps make the game more interesting due to not knowing what is going to happen. That is the reason why Age of Mythology beat Age of Empires 3 for this spot.

2. Command and Conquer Red Alert Retaliation 
This game I probably spent about 500-1,000 hours playing when I was a kid. I do not know why I spent so much time playing but when a Tesla Coil can barbecue tanks and infantry as easily as it could made me want to come back for more. However I found the game after awhile to be easier going against 1 hard AI the against 3 hard AI due to the fact after maybe 2-3 attacks the enemy got stupid and sent small waves of troops instead of saving for a larger force to attack with. This is the reason why it is number 2 on my top 5 real time strategy games. Last but not least you can not forget about the giant ant missions.

1. Starcraft Brood Wars
This is the only other game that even comes close to the amount of hours i spent playing Command and Conquer Red Alert Retaliation. First is the challenging missions that even after beating once the enemy can still find many tricks to screw you over with if your not careful. That and the 3 unique races to play as, combined with the challenging AI that can adapt to situations more clearly makes this game much more interesting to play then the number 2 spot. If that was not enough making maps and playing them with your freinds online easily made it so I could keep coming back every now and then to play instead of some of the previous games where you just do not even want to play anymore. In my opinion this game rightfully deserves number 1 spot due to how well it stood against the sands of time.
