Street Fighter X Tekken Basic Information Guide
All the basics you need to know to get started in SFxT.
STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN
Controls:
The controls for SFxT are pretty simple; there is a standard 6 button layout (Light, Medium, Heavy punches or kicks) with a joystick for movement. For an XBox and PS3, the left analog stick is the joystick, and the PC uses Up,Down,Left,Right keys which can be rebounded to what ever keys you desire.
Characters:
There are many characters in SFxT (55 inc. DLC, 38 Standard not PS3/Vita), all of which are very good. But be warned that Tekken characters use Street Fighter move execution styles, which can be enough for Tekken fans to stay away from this game.
Move Execution (and combos):
The most standard launcher combo that all characters are capable of executing is (punch or kick): Light, Medium, Heavy, Heavy (launcher). The launcher sends the opponent into the air and your partner comes in, allowing them to dish off more damage. This is a great combo, but if the opponent blocks it, it is easily punishable. Standard moves such as a hadouken can be boosted in ‘EX’, but 1 bar from the Super Meter will be used. Most standard light and mediums attacks can be cancelled into a special move, opening up many combo chances. Some moves which cause a wall-bounce or a ground bounce (eg. Hwoarang’s EX Hunting Hawk causes a wall bounce) can also link up combos. To find out the best combos for you, Training Mode should be used on occasion to perfect combos. Also, moves will do less damage, the more hits you are into your combo, so try to use strong attacks at the start.
Juggle System:
Juggling an opponent in SFxT can be tricky. Only a couple of hits can be made before the opponent becomes ‘untouchable’ and all moves will pass through them harmlessly. However, this can be reset when you send your partner in, which will costs 1 Super Meter bar when you are performing a move. For this reason, air launching moves such as a Shoryuken should be used to send in a partner. For additional info, check out: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Street_Fighter_X_Tekken/Capcom_Juggle_System
Blocking:
Blocking is the BEST way to stay alive in SFxT. To block, simply hold back (the direction away from your opponent) while they are attacking. Low attacks can only be blocked by crouch-blocking, and high attacks cannot be blocked this way. If the opponent is jumping at you, you should stand up and block, then instantly crouch-block when they land to prevent them from hitting low attacks. High attacks consist of jump attacks and ‘overhead’ attacks. If you see someone crouching in front of you, low attacks may not be the answer as they will be blocked. Jump at them, or use an overhead like Ken’s Thunder kick do hit them. If they are blocking high, use a low attack such as a foot sweep (crouching H.Kick) to hit a blocking opponent.
