The Ten Best Computer Games From The 90s!

There are many things that I miss about the 90s. My childhood, innocence, the 90s music and film scene, 90s television and most of all the 90s computer games! Here is a list of what I consider to be the best computer games to come out of that amazing decade!

1.       Lemmings (Released 1991)

What can I say this was the first computer game I played, and after nearly two decades I still have fun making fun of the little brainless lemmings!

Developer: DMA Design (now Rockstar North)

Platform: Originally designed for the Commodore Amiga

Pros: Challenging even for adults, simple interface, easy learning curve

Cons: repetitive, aged graphics, crap soundtrack

2.      Half-Life (Released 1998) (PC)

This game was just brilliant. I have memorised every part of this game; it’s probably due to completing it twenty times! This is a must play!

Developer: Valve Software

Pros: Excellent graphics for its era, captivating story, challenging

Cons: lifeless environments, too short of a game!

3.      Quake 3 Arena (Released 1999) (PC)

This is the game that got me into the first person shooter genre. I was playing this religiously up until only a few years ago!

Developer: id Software

Pros: Awesome graphics for its era, very challenging, great sound effects

Cons: repetitive, lifeless environments

4.      Driver (Released 1999) (PC & Playstation)

This was the game that got me addicted to racing games. The games complexity and sheer breadth was unprecedented, and it stands the test of time in remaining a challenging game!

This was a ground breaking racing game graphics wise. I remember enjoying the techno music in this!

Pros: Challenging game play, good soundtrack, many cars

Cons: Dated graphics, poor Ai

9.      Diablo (Released 1997) (PC, Playstation)

I was addicted to this back in the day! One of the best games of its era!
