Tw New Player Guide
A guide to get new players of tribalwars on their feet.
This guide aims to introduce new players to strategies many vets would have used in the game.
First of all a fast game speed with slow troop speed is the best settings for new players, so worlds like UK 3 is good for new players. The reason for this is farming. To clear any confusion, farming has nothing to do with the building farm. Farming is the act of attacking another village to obtain their resources. From the start of the game, people would use spears, sometimes accompanied by axes. Then later, they would switch to Light Cavalry (LC shorthand). For new players this will be difficult to do efficiently. With high game speed worlds, more emphasis is put on resource mines instead of farming. Therefore, new players who are just getting to know farming will not have such a distinct disadvantage just because everybody else is farming.
Another key concept is aggressiveness. It is a good idea to be mostly offensive for your first village. By that I mean more then 95 % of all your troops consist of axe and LC. Most new players use a defensive build, generally this is a bad idea. The reasons for this are, offense build faster then defense. So if two people who start at the same time but one goes defense and one goes offense, the offensive player will have more troops then the defensive one. Plus, the offensive player will be able to clear the defensive while the defensive can only defend. This is also another point. When you noble – especially on packaged world (e.g. UK3) – you will want a village with high point to noble. This makes sense as you want to grow as fast as possible (by nobling more) without getting burdened by a small village which requires a lot of resources to build up.
There are two exceptions to this. One is when you are a very famous player. Purple Predator is an example. Ingame, he is very famous therefore he gets attack a lot. To counter this, he must build a fairly defensive build, but even he doesn’t go 100% defensive. He says he builds 70 % defense leaving 30 % for farming etc. The second is when you are in an organized tribe. Since most people go offensive, it makes support somewhat difficult. So, some leaders require their members to have atleast 50 – 100 spears and swords in their first village.
One final thing to keep in mind as you play this game. Every situation is different. Guides are awesome but they are a guideline. You must be able to adapt to every situation. The things you do ingame is dependent on your competition, your time limit etc. I will show some examples. If you have no barbarian village in your 7×7, then it is much better to build up your mines then go straight ahead and build 200 spears. If you are on a lot, it would be better to build a lot of troops for farming and only put smithy into queue when you go to sleep (smithy takes a lot of time to build so it takes up your queue space).
