What to Do If Your Minecraft Game Crashes Because of Mods!
I was there before but this should help!
So I put mods that were outdated… Always make sure you have current mods!
Mods may not work and give you a black screen because you didn’t delete META-INF folder. To find this folder you must have winRAR or win7zip (preferred) and open minecraft.jar. If you see a folder in there that is named META-INF, delete it! It keeps mods from working and it will not affect your game.
Before you add mods, ALWAYS, backup your saves or Minecraft.jar. This saves somuch pain.
What I usually do if you can’t find the source of the problem or it is too hard to fix, I backup my saves. Go to your .minecraft folder and make a backup of your world saves. After that, I delete my whole .minecraft folder and open minecraft, log back in, then it automatically creates a fresh minecraft folder. Then in .minecraft make a folder named “saves” (without quotation marks) and put your backup world files in there. You should have a fresh minecraft.jar and your worlds back. You can then try to attempt to put CURRENT mods in.
If that kills Minecraft. Delte EVERYTHING. But backup saves (I stress again). Then you can redownload it and put your saves back in.
I can’t stress enough to not forget to delete META-INF and make sure the mods you are putting on matches with the current minecraft versions. This will save you a lot of trouble!
This instructions also go when minecraft updates. You will have to remove any mods and wait for them to update. Minecraft is soon going to be easier with getting mods onto the game. For now, you have to do it manually.
There are some downloads for a new bin folder that you can just replace to save some time. That works too.
*HOWEVER* A mod manager called TCF Mod Manager was released and not sure if updated, but it does all the work for you and all you do is get your mod and press a button. It worked in the earlier beta version. It did work, but I have not seen the status of it for the newest beta version yet, however.
Hope you found this tutorial easy and intresting. If you need help contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can give you more detailed instructions.
