World of Warcraft vs. RuneScape: Who Beats Who?
This article will look into every little piece of the games and find out which is the best.
So you probably want to know what is good about Runescape and what is good about WoW.
I’ve been playing both games for a long time, so I’m going to tell you what I think. If you disagree, just comment and. I really hope you don’t just think “Yea that g33k is probably right. I just agree.” I would love if some of you told me your own opinions. In this article i will talk about the P2P Runescape since F2P Runescape has nothing much to offer. Well here we go…
Lets start with “Skills & Professions”
Skills:
In WoW there’s following skills: (These are also called professions)
Alchemy (Make potions to raise your damage or health etc.)
Blacksmithing (Craft weapons & armor)
Cooking (Cook food like bread or fish to heal you if you’re low on health.)
Enchanting (Enchant weapons & armor to get magic abilities. Example: +50 armor for your boots.)
Engineering (This is the skill where you make everything out of metal, like robots, combat protectors, helicopters.. the list goes on.)
First Aid (Be able to heal you and your teammates. Higher levels allows you to heal people with high health points faster)
Fishing (Catch fish and cook them with your cooking skill. These are used to heal yourself when eaten.)
Herbalism (Gather plants to make potions with your Alchemy profession.)
Jewel Crafting (This profession lets you craft rings, necklaces and trinkets. It also lets you make jewels to fill in the sockets in your armor. These gems works a bit like enchanting.)
Skinning (Skin the animals you kill and use their hide for leather armor.)
Leatherworking (This is the skill you use to make hide & leather into armor.)
Poisoning (This is primary a rogue skill. Rogues uses this skill to make poison. The poison is attached to their weapons to give more damage. The poison may also have a bleed effect where the opponent may suffer for several seconds.)
Tailoring (This skill can be used with skinning, but is not required. Tailoring is the skill where you get the ability to craft cloth armor, bags, capes/cloaks, shirts and so on. They will mainly be making clothes for Warlocks, Priests and Mages, since these are the 3 cloth wearing classes in WoW.)
Mining (With this skill you can mine the ores which is needed to make armor with the Blacksmithing profession. The ores/veins you can find is “Copper”, “Tin” (Copper & Tin is used to make Bronze), “Silver”, “Iron”, “Gold”, “Mithrill”, “True Silver”, “Small Thorium”, “Rich Thorium”.)
Lock-picking (This is a skill which is connected to rogues. Rogues gets the ability to pick-lock chests etc. In these chests there will be a prize waiting for you. You never know what’s in it. The profession also allow rogues to pick-lock chests and boxes for other players.
(15 Skills/Professions)
In Runescape there’s following skills:
Agility (This is the skill where you learn to get past obstacles like threes or rocks. If you’re level 1 Agility, you can still walk around, but you cant use the smart shortcuts which are hided everywhere. If you’re level 99 Agility, you might be able to for example climb walls.
Crafting (Crafting is about making stuff from the different metals you can find around Runescape. The ores/veins you can find is “Clay” (for making pots), “Copper”, “Tin”, (Copper & Tin is used to make Bronze), “Iron”, “Silver”, “Coal”, “Mithrill”, “Adamantite”, “Rune”.)
Fishing (Catch fish and cook them with your cooking skill)
Hunter (The hunter skill is giving you the ability to track, set traps, and catch all sorts of creatures that you, without the hunter skill, wouldn’t be unable to interact with)
Fletching (Fletching is the skill where you get the ability to create bows, arrows, crossbows and a lot more.)
Rune-crafting (This skill allows you to mine “Rune essence” and afterwards craft runes. You need runes to cast damaging spells, healing spells, teleporting spells. Pretty much all spells actually.
Summoning (Summoning is a skill that, with the right levels, allows you to have for example a beaver to help you with your woodcutting, a yak to hold your items as a pack mule or a Minotaur to help you in your fights. This skill is like the WoW hunters ability to get pets to fight for him.
Construction (In Runescape you’ve got your own personal house which you can decorate and upgrade. You can lean to make toys and furniture for your house, and if you’re high-leveled you’ll have a sweet house to invite all your friends into. You can even offer them something to eat, a cup of tea, a glass or ale, a for-fun-only boxing fight, a dance around your Christmas three, a rest in your bed or in the rocking-chair, or a dangerous trip into the dungeon where you and your friends can fight monsters together. Yep, “Player Owned Houses” is a lot of fun.
Farming (Farming allows you to grow your own vegetables, banana trees, apple trees, onions.. the list goes on. In this skill you really got to have patience, cause flora doesn’t grow in 1 minute. At least not i Runescape!)
Herblore (This skill is pretty much like Herbalism, Alchemy & Poisoning in one. You find herbs all around Runescape and if your level allows you to, you can identify these herbs. The herbs can be used to make attack potions, strength potions, poisons etc.)
Mining (This skill is pretty much like the Mining skill in WoW. You mine form a rock and get some kind of metal. Rune for example. When you got these metals, you can sell them or craft them into armor or weapons.)
Slayer (This skill is pretty tricky when compared to WoW. Cause i think WoW’s quests are pretty boring form time to time. I find them a bit like this: “Go and kill 100 goblins, steal their boxes and get back”. But that’s OK. because a game needs that. Some people actually enjoy it. Runescapes quests are all unique in my eyes. Not one is like the other. But the skill Slayer is like WoW’s quests i think. Cause here you get a task from your slayer master. The task could for example be to kill 40 zombies and get back. The slayer skill allows you to kill special creatures, just like hunting. These creatures may drop very valuable items, rare items etc. My point is that I think the the Slayer skill is almost the same as the WoW quests but that’s just my opinion.
Thieving (This skill allows you to steal from NPC’s (computers) and pick-lock chests and doors open. In these chests you may find anything from dust to money to armor and weapons. You start off stealing from villagers (earning 3 coins from each time you pickpocket someone) but in the higher levels you’ll be able to steal runes, weapons and other valuable stuff. There’s of course the risk to be caught, and sometimes you’re thrown in jail. However, this doesn’t last for long.
Cooking (This is pretty much the same as in WoW. You get some meat from fishing or from monster drops (beef for example) and then you cook it with your cooking skill. You’re also able to brew ales, so that you can make your own beers. Some of these beers will give you attack-power, strength ect for some minutes after you’ve drank it.
Fire-making (This is a skill that, in WoW, is a part of the cooking skill. This skill lets you make a fire to cook your food on. Fire’s can be very handy when you’re out in the swamps and cant find a stove. There’s also lanterns and helms with candles for some of the dungeons. You can only light these items if you’ve got the right level.
Prayer (This skill has a bar like mana in WoW. If you’re level 50 Prayer, you got 50 prayer to work with. Prayer can be used to turn on some abilities. For example there’s an ability that protects you from magic. When turned on, the prayer-points will be less and less until there’s none left. When you’re out of Prayer points, you go to an alter and pray to your god and you’re full again. The prayer skill can be leveled by burying bones and doing quests. Bones is obtained from killed monsters or enemies.
Smithing (Smithing is used to forge your own weapons and armor. As in WoW you can sell the items or use them for yourself.)
Woodcutting (Woodcutting allows you to cut down trees. When a tree is chopped down you get the logs from it. The logs can be used to light fires or make staffs, bows, arrows and a lot more.
(18 Skills/Professions)
In Runescape you can master every single skill if you want to. Unfortunately, WoW allows you to pick only 2 professions like Skinning & Leatherworking, and then you can’t use any of the other professions at all. You can let go of one of your professions (like Skinning) and then get a new one, but you can only have 2 professions at a time. Cooking, First-Aid, Fishing & Poisoning is for everyone though.
In Runescape you can also level each of the combat skills. Runescape has got:
Attack (High level attack means that you don’t miss so many of your attacks.)
Defence (High level defence means that you dodge/reflects the opponents attacks.)
Strength (High level strength means that you deal more damage.)
Ranged (The Ranged skill is for people using bows & arrows. This can be a big advantage when unable to reach a monster or an enemy behind a rock etc. The ranged skill allows you to get better and better bows, arrows & ranged armor)
Magic (The magic skill lets you use magic to heal, kill and teleport you and your friends. Magic skill can be leveled as in WoW, by killing enemies.
Hit-points (Hit-points is how much life you’ve got. If you got 70 hit-points/HP and a monster hits you for 35, then you’re on half life. Hit points is of course necessary to level.)
I think that there’s a lot more unique skills in Runescape. Such as Farming, Construction, Prayer, Rune-crafting, Summoning and Hunter. I defiantly like the skills in Runescape more than the ones in WoW.
Introductions and beginner help
The Intros and beginner help
When you enter WoW for first time, you get the history of the race you’ve picked. this is a great idea and way to quickly tell people what kind of creature you’ve actually chosen.
But that’s actually the introduction there is. The only “beginner” help there is, is the pop-up tutorials which comes up. In this category i like Runescapes way of doing it better.
When you create a person i Runescape you start at the Tutorial Island. On Tutorial island you learn everything you need to learn. There’s a Mining master, Woodcutting master, Fishing master, Combat master, Ranging master etc. I think it’s a good way of learning what to do in different situations.
Races
In World of Warcraft there’s 10 different races to chose from. There’s the good site (Alliance) and the evil site (Horde).
Alliance :
Horde :
(10 different races)
* * *
Unfortunately, Runescape has only got 1 race to chose as your character.
Human (This link will lead you to some (if not all) of the races in Runescape)
(1 race)
First thought: “That’s pretty bad!”. It would be great if you could chose to be something else but again, Runescape is just such a different game. The game is all about you being a human in that world and that’s how it is. It’s just so cool that you can meet so many different races in World of Warcraft. I like that very much.
Quests
As i mentioned earlier i think that the quests in WoW is a bit like Runescape’s Slayer skill. Boring. I mean its not boring in Runescape, cause you can get rare or very valuable stuff that you wouldn’t be able to get without that skill. Also, you don’t need to level up in slayer. Only if you want to. But the process of killing 100 monsters, going back, getting reward, killing monsters, going back, getting reward is too BORING. Seriously Blizzard, get it. Runescape can learn much from WoW but WoW can also learn a LOT from Runescape. The Quests in Runescape is all unique. Not one of them is like the other. The people behind Runescape’s quests is clever people. I wouldn’t really say that about the people behind the quests of WoW (soz).
I know that there’s only a hundred quests in Runescape and maybe 10 times as many in WoW. But they just don’t beat Runescape. WoW has just got so many bad & boring quests.
Graphics
We all know that WoW has got a much better graphic than Runescape. But is that all a game needs to be good game? No. A good game is not based on its graphics. Its based on everything in the game. Everything.
But we’re going to talk about graphics now and i must say that WoW has got better graphics than Runescape.
Also the way to interact with people and move your character is better than i Runescape. You can easily mess up everything when tapping ten times somewhere on the mini-map (Runescape) and that’s annoying. All this is about how you like games to be and that can vary from person to person. I like both graphics actually. They are very different games and they’re build on very different platforms. Graphic is better in WoW but i personally like the way you play Runescape. Actually I’m more than happy with the Runescape Graphic, especially after the High Definition update, that’s just perfect and all that i need.
Interface/layout
The way you reach your abilities in WoW is very like-able. I don’t like that you need to click on a button in Runescape to find for example your spells in your “spell-book”. I think it should be visible on the screen all the time.
But hey, these games are not close to being the same, and Runescape is not as much about fighting all the time as World of Warcraft is. So maybe there’s a reason why you can see your abilities all the time in WoW. I would just wish it was kind of the same in Runescape.
The way you move around in Runescape is a bit annoying. You click somewhere on the map or on the ground and your character moves to that spot. In WoW you just hit the forward button and the character moves. In Runescape there’s squares you can walk and stand on and that’s not cool. It makes it all look a little nooby if you’re used to play WoW. But if you’re a “Runescaper” you wont see it.
Runescape’s got a mini-map just as WoW and that works fine i think, but what i DON’T like about Runescape is that you log out after being AFK/away from keyboard for 1 minute. That’s pretty annoying sometimes but it’s also good. Cause in Runescape there’s “servers” and not “realms”. You can jump to each server if you want to and you’re not bound to one server/realm. Also, you can chat with everyone outside your server if you want to. So if you’re in server 27 and I’m in server 1 we’re still able to chat. That’s a great thing about Runescape. Anyway, these servers can be full like realms can be full in WoW. This “1 minute till log-out” thing throws out people who’re just AFK. If you’re not doing anything anyway why should you then block for other players to log into that server. That’s both a good and a bad thing about the auto log-out.
Errors & Fixes
There has been some pretty bad glitches and errors in both games. Some of them fun too.
I remember once the “Player Owned Houses” were made and there was a boxing ring in someones house. If you joined the boxing competition, you could fight your friends, and if you teleported to somewhere while being in the boxing ring, the boxing mode were still “turned on”. You could actually box players in the cities to death. They could do nothing but run. Oh yea that was a fun time.
The only bad errors I’ve got while playing Runescape is when trying to start the game. Also the java client crashed once but nothing besides that.
WoW:
Jesus, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with World of Warcraft. I’ve had blue screens, black screens etc. I’ve experiences that WoW wouldn’t let me minimize the window and another time it wouldn’t let me maximize it. It’s also been crashing a lot of times and every time i went to Orgrimmar(city) the game closed. These errors got fixed pretty fast by Blizzard so that’s OK. They’re good at fixing stuff
Stuff like this and this happened pretty often in a period and It’s just not fixable. WoW is very hard to fix yourself so.. Yea I was pretty angry at WoW sometimes.
Storyline
WoW’s storyline beats Runescape’s storyline. For sure! They’ve also had Warcraft 1, 2 & 3 to make it so of course they got a better storyline. I think its too bad that WoW doesn’t use their storyline to make better quests but i already talked about quests so I’ll stop myself here
.
There’s nothing much to say. Runescape’s storyline is weird and twisted, but i still like it. It all began with 3 gods (Zamorak the evil god, Saradomin the good god & Guthix the balanced god.) They had a war in the beginning and this war had consequences. Now these gods has got followers and helpers who will do everything they tell them. Saradomin wants to save the world. Zamorak wants to rule it and destroy it. Guthix tried to make balance in everything. I think its a good storyline, I’m just bad at explaining it. Its long
Anyway, WoW’s storyline is just great. I think its cooler than Runescape’s.
World Map
OK we take a look at the World Map of Runescape.
I freaking love the world map in Runescape. You get to know it very easily and there’s nice places to go. There’s very different places. But that doesn’t beat WoW either.
Cause WoW has got fantastic places too. Maybe more fantastic that Runescape.
WoW’s World Map looks like this. Wow also got their outland, which is a pretty cool place. It’s not like anything you’ve seen before. Which is better? This is up to your self. I think they both rock.
Combat
The way you fight people and monsters in Runescape is not the best. You only got the weapon in your hand to deal damage with. You can deal damage in some different modes. “Attack”, “Strength” & “Defence” If you chose Attack you will be leveling that skill etc.
Some weapons has got special abilities and that’s cool enough, but the special ability is often just to deal more damage. No big deal. “You hit, they hit, you hit, they hit.”
In WoW you’ve got so many different abilities. This can be sucking the life out of your target, killing them by throwing an axe into their face, or let a summoned pet kill the target for you. There’s so many ways to attack and so many different ways it looks when you attack your opponent. It looks cool, but of course you get used to this too so it may not be a big deal after years of playing. Runescape just looks boring with the: “You hit, they hit, you hit, they hit” thing but that’s not going to make me say WoW is better than RS/Runescape.
Price to play
This will be a short one.
Runescape is actually free to play, but when not paying, you only get to see and try 1/4 part of Runescape.
The price to play Runescape as a “Member” is 6 euros/8,2 dollars. That’s nothing compared to WoW. First you need to buy the game in a store or on the Internet. This may cost around 56 dollars. Then you need to pay 15 dollars each month to play. If that ain’t expensive then i don’t know what is! Point: Too expensive!
Platform
Runescape is a game which you need to play through your Internet browser (Firefox, Netscape, Internet Explorer etc.) This is fine to me. But before the “High Definition” update you had to play Runescape in a little window on the screen. The “window” you played the game in was just too small. Now they finally made the game full-screen and that rocks! Finally they’re acting like they want to make a real game. Runescape rocks like never before. Before & After the High Definition update: HTTP://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GEtdWWYFAM
Of course WoW got better chances of being cooler than Runescape, because its a real game that you download, but I think Runescape has made a great game. Especially because they’re making it all on a Java Platform.
Player VS Player
In Wow you can only duel people. Then you can have a fight and you can only go down to 1 HP.
In Runescape you can go to “Wilderness” and try to kill all the players you meet. I think that’s much cooler. The Wilderness is an area where you can go if you want to. When you go there, there’s a lot of signs saying DANGER and stuff like “Beware, Wilderness”. I think it’s a good idea.
Consequences of death
Finally I’m going to talk about the consequences of death. This is not where Runescape is going to score a lot of points and beat World of Warcraft. Nope. Not here.
Cause when you die in Runescape you loose everything but your 3 most valuable items. This sucks! Seriously this is not funny. But it’s closer to the real world than WoW. I just don’t like it, because no one likes loosing all their stuff. Dang this is one of the less fun things in Runescape. In World of Warcraft you just wake up at a graveyard, as a spirit, and has to go and find your body. In Runescape you loose the stuff in your inventory and the stuff that you’re wearing. Everything …. but 3 items. It’s an evil world we’re living in
Anyway, there’s one thing i can talk about to make Runescape look a little better: Gravestones.
A gravestone is dropped when you die. A gravestone holds your items for some minutes. The best gravestone holds your items for 6 minutes. These 6 minutes can be used to run as fast as you can to that gravestone and collect your lost items. Thanks god that Jagex made gravestones. To read more about Gravestones just click this link.
Dungeons /Instances
In WoW there’s instances where you and your team can go and kill a lot of monsters/enemies and earn a lot of money or items (armor, weapons, junk etc.)
In Runescape you go to a dungeon. This is not the same but here you are also able to kill and get some kind of rewards.
I think WoW beats Runescape in this.
Mini-games, Arenas, Battlegrounds
Runescape’s Mini-games: 37 (link)
WoW’s Mini-games: 0 (no link, I’m sorry
)
I think its fun to play all those mini-games that are in Runescape. You can play handball with the gnomes or puzzles or castle wars (which is one of my favorites) In CW/Castle Wars you are placed on red or blue team. Here you need to steal the flag and return in to your own base. Here you get a chance to play player vs player without loosing your items. These Runescape mini-games is a lot of fun and a big part of the game to me.
Well. WoW are not so strong in the mini-games category. But in Battlegrounds and Arenas they surely are.
Wow has got some nice battlegrounds to join. These battlegrounds is like Castle Wars where you for example needs to steal the your enemies flag and return it to your base.
World of Warcraft has got Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Eye of the Storm & Stand of the Ancients. These battlegrounds are just great. WoW also got something called Arena. You can make a group of 3 people for example and join the Arena. Here you will need to fight 3 other players and if you win, you get arena points which you can spend on armor and weapons. Extremely fun.
As mentioned earlier, many of the Runescape mini-games is also like WoW’s battlegrounds.
This is the names of the mini-games in Runescape:
Barbarian Assault
Barrows
Beacon Network
Blast Furnace
Bounty Hunter
Castle Wars
Clan Wars
Duel Arena
Fist of Guthix
Games Room
Gnome Ball
Gnome Restaurant
Impetuous Impulses
Kingdom of Miscellania
Mage Training Arena
Mort’ton Shade Burning
Pest Control
Pyramid Plunder
Ranging Mini Game
Rat Pits
Rogue Trader
Rogue’s Den
Sorceress’s Garden
Soul Wars
Stealing Creation
Tai Bwo Wannai Clean Up
Tears of Guthix
Temple Trekking/Burgh de Rott Ramble
The Fishing Trawler
The Great Orb Project
Treasure Trails
Trouble Brewing Mini-Game
TzHaar Fight Cave
TzHaar Fight Pit
Vinesweeper
Vyrewatch Corpse Burning
Well that was quite a lot. I think Runescape beats WoW here again but that’s of course just my opinion.
Armor & Weapons
Well people out journey will soon be over. This is the final title.
In WoW there’s so much armor that Blizzard don’t even know how much there is themselves.
However, there’s types of armor. There’s Cloth (Mages etc.), Leather (Rogues etc.), Mail (Paladins etc.), Plate (Warriors etc.) When looking deeper into the armor you’re getting dizzy cause of the many names. There’s so much junk in WoW to find and wear that it will take a life to write down. But hey, that’s OK. It’s cool enough to be able to always find new stuff to wear (This happens often in the lower levels)
The types of armor which exist in Runescape is following…
Melee:
Basic robes, Bronze, Iron, Khazar, Steel, Black, Mithrill, Temple Initiate, Adamantite, Rune, Dragon, Crystal, Barrow, Lunar, Bandos, Third age Melee.
Mage:
Elemental, Split-bark, Mystical Robes, Ghost robes, Infinity, Third age Mage.
Rangers
Leather, Hardened leather, Studded leather, Snakeskin, Green dragon-hide, Blue dragon-hide, Red dragon-hide, Black dragon-hide, Third age range, Armadyl.
OK i must admit that I’m surprised. I actually forgot how many kinds of armor there were. But again, all these armor types is used by people and is not just junk like most of the low level armor i WoW. Also its very easy to find out what armor you can use by clicking your “Defence” skill.
One thing that irritates me is that you cant hold the mouse over an item in Runescape and read its damage and abilities. That’s too bad.
Well now we got to the end and we’re going to see which one of the games was the best!
RUNESCAPE!!!!!!
Nah im just kidding. Because my answer is both. I can’t tell you which one of these games is the best. I can just tell you what i like about them both and i like Runescape for some reasons and World of Warcraft for some other reasons. If these two games was mixed right, there would be a powerful game (which i would play day and night
). Well I hope you’re not disappointed and if you are. Soz x)
Which one do you like the most, and why??

dude i wasn’t talking what good or bad in rs i was comparing them
Personally, I like RuneScape more. I had it for quite some time. I find it easier to play (not easy as difficulty). Also its cheap, and I have a lot of friends there. You also can play it anywhere with any computer (mostly) without downloading crap =)
Ilyaz thats what im doing too. I*m comparing them but to know which one is the best you need to know what the good and bad things is in the games, right?
Thanks for your comment Master kenth.
- Im for RuneScape too.
You’re right in you don’t need to download anything (at least not much) And that’s what’s nice about RS
You are completely wrong my freind, WoW quests have a ton lot more story behind them, they are more intresting, rs quests are more, Kiddy. PVP there is arena\’s and BG for wow, bg being battlegrounds, capture the flags, capture certain points to increase score, they even mixed those two together, there is now siege warfare on WoW aswell, where as in RS you can only go 1v1, or get PJ\’ed and lose all your stuff, where as in WoW you lose nothing, the only downside to dieing is a short run from a graveyard and your items being \”broken\” i could go on, WoW wrecks runescape easily.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
If you’ve ever played Runescape (and by this i don’t mean played til level 10 or something like that) then you will find out that Runescape quests are much more unique and nice to complete and work on. I stand my ground as i say that WoW quests is boring and non-unique. Most of the WoW quests is like: “Kill 20 monsters and bring back “something” … ” I must disagree with you here. WoW quests really sucks. But i really think that WoW has got a much better storyline and ofcourse with a good storyline they are able to create good quests. They’re just not as smart as RuneScape in making quests. That’s the way it is.
PVP.. If you knewhow many minigames/pvp/battlegrounds/arenas there is in Runescape then you wouldn’t write that. Runescape has every kind of player vs player game there is and you don’t lose your stuff here.
In the wilderness you’re able to kill people and take most of their stuff. Ofcourse there’s the risk of duying yourself too and that sucks. If you can’t risk anything in a game then there’s no meaning playing it. If a game is secure all the way it’ll get boring. And boring is surely the word for WoW.
Runescape own WoW in many ways but WoW has also got a lot of good things.
- Anders
Seriously guys no body is right, its your own OPINION and that is a very important word, Now i like runescapes quests and the atmosphere of it..
BUT
WoW has the team play, the items, and the headest
Personally they are both Epic wins, dont argue if you dont like one then you dont like it.. It is as simple as that.
I agree with the “If these two games was mixed right, there would be a powerful game” statement, because it’s true. Both games have their strongpoints, and weakpoints, but they’re both fun to play. I personally enjoy RS more, just because I’ve played it longer, but that’s just me.
Great article!
I must say publisher that you are a bit opinionated it would have been better if you didn’t write your opinions because now uve started a massive arguement.
Nice guide though I have only played the demo of World of Warcraft and I have played Runescape. It told me most of the best bits of the game thx!
runescape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
runescaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
really wow quests suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
runescape ones are boring (because they are hard and i hate questing) but alot more funnier then kill this guy and win a box give me and witn 5k gp yay!~

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUNESCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi i agree with you i prefere runescape to WoW cos i have played both. i stopped Wow because of the price and the quests are always the same. Runescape is far more better but as on both games training can be very boring. btw whats your runescape name if youve got one?
Im free player I’m callled Dani672
WOW is pretty interesting fo ra while but…
apart from the graphics and the story along with the flashy few spells min the main screen
i think runescape is waaaay better
with the quests to get xp, unlock items, interesting stories
and best of all skillcapes, the thing that drives you to maxing the skill
also the 2 skills at a time thing sucks
btw during your comparison, you totally pushed WOW for every detailt they had, for instance
”ranging, bow and arrow”
more like, bow and arrows, throwing knifes, crossbows, darts, throwing axes, exploding chinchompas, obsidian disks and a few more i can’t name off the top of my head
and i think runescape is very well organized i’d hate it if all 130 or so spells were spammed on my screen compared to the few WOW has
and wow seperates the skill of crafting into 4 skills
and considering you can only usde two at a time
if one was leather and one was jewelry
you’d be using half of one runescape skill.
in my opinion the only arguments world of warcraft has for it’s sorry ass is
”a nice story at the begining – lasts 2 minutes”
”better graphics” – not really, just zoomed in more with crapier controls”, also takes too much effort running everywhere…
”you don’t lose your items” – wheres the thrill in that?
oh ya and you can’t even fight.
what’s the point!, about half of runescape is getting your combat skills to lean to one side and kill other players!
also another point, world of warcraft – kill goblins and steal there boxes!!!
=_=”
runescape, you search for an item, talk to a person unlock some special door follow a grasping story, complete a puzzle, kill a boss monster for the quest, bring talk to somebody else and quest complete
”you can now equip the Dragon Scimitar”
you have gained 20,000 strength, attack and hitpoints xp
you can now attempt the obstical course
you can talk to ________ for an additional 20,000 xp
you have gained 2 quest points”
world of warcraft, 5,000 experience.
and also runescpae isn’t for little children as sombody else mentioned
oh yeah and also, theres 3 spell books i consider the basic, the guthix book, good for your everyday uses
ancients, the zamorak book – good for pking freezing your opponents etc., teleporting to intricate spots
lunar saradomin – healing somebody from poison, vegeance:- returning 3/4 of the damage done on you to them, teleporting lots of people to a spot
WOW, has no sense of achievment, and you hardly make friends there, your more likely to make enemies.
http://www.epicfail.com
You’re very right in most of the stuff you say but stuff as “wow has not got better graphic”.. Um. I like runescape better than wow but WoW has got better graphic and better control.. Thats how it is.
It seem like you’re trying to make Runescape look better than it is. There’s no need for that. You think RS rock. I think RS rock and there’s not much more to it.
Im glad you took time to write this nice comment and give me your opinion.
Good to have another Runescaper on the team.
- Zawert (RS)
http://gameolosophy.com/games/action/call-of-duty/cod-waw-achievements-guide-and-map-pack-2-achievements/
good guide
runescape pwns because of accessibility and cost in terms of content
i think runescape is better and about the armor and weapons i think that runescape is better because if you have expensive armor evryone knows that and you can feel good about yourself knowing that everyone knows your rich. in WoW i think with so much armor nobody knows if youre actually rich or not and i think thats plain dumb any way great article man (except for the loads of errors lol =P)
Well, WoW wins imo, landscapes are much more diverse theres a bigger world to explore and im not sure cause when i played RS i got to level 7 and got bored but in RS can you group up with 25 people and clear out a floating ziggurat full of monsters and bosses like you can in WoW? (referring to the raid: Naxxramas)
Last time i checked. no. lol. ( correct me if im wrong plz
)
Can you raid enemy factions cities and slaughter their leaders?
And in WoW yes you can only have 2 main proffessions at a time but then you can have cooking-fishing-first aid aswell. and you can only have 2 main professions but thats cause they are deep and let you create many things.
Im not sure but in RS is there such a thing as an Auction House linked to all Allied players where players can put items on with a set price and others bid on them? -just like an ingame ebay? Are there mounts in RS? are there TALENTS in RS?> where you tweak and customize your characters abilities to accel him/her in 1 of 3 areas, or half and half? the list goes on!!!! – Can you do these things in RS? you can in WOW.
SneakyGuest you’re very wrong. Everything you say is like “I’m not sure” and this means you aren’t really sure on anything.
Does runescape have crazy landscapes? yes: They got snow, forrest, desert, normal, cave. Everything.
Does Runescape have a huge world with a lot of islands and places you can sail to? Is this world actually BIG? yes: This world is so crazy big. I’m level 96 and have only seen bit more than half of it.
If you got to Level 7 you haven’t experienced anything in Rs.
Therefore none of your arguments is good.
2 skills sucks. They aren’t that deep my friend.
You can’t raid in Runescape. That’s right. How do a level 7 know that?
We got the Grand Exchange which is actually the same as Auction House in WoW.
Runescape ain’t got mounts. Unfortunatly.
Of and by the way. The list stops there. There’s nothing much more to tell.
But what is to tell is all the stuff Runescape has got that WoW HASN’T. You don’t know what it is if you didn’t read my article and if you’re a level 7 you might not even know what the names of the armor you can get. Lol
i reallt like rs more then WoW because in rs there is like a grande exchange and stuff and i havent played woW 4 a long time so i cant remember anything from it so=P wait not =P =D
rs is better because u have emotes i don’t no if u have that in WoW
I personally prefer WoW.
Many of you have said that WoW quests suck… and in the lower levels, I agree. HOWEVER, with the new expansion (Wrath of the Lich King), the quests have become much more in depth. In the Deathknight starting zone (and all of the areas in Northrend), all of the quests actually change the map (ex. finishing a certain quest causes the scourge to take over an enemy town)
For instance, Blizzard implemented a new “vehicle” system in which you can ride something (be it a horse, tank, chain-gun turret, etc.) and fight in it. In these vehicles you get totally new abilities to use. These quests are some of the most fun quests I have ever done.
As for PvP, I think WoW beats Runescape. Warsong Gulch (the equivalent of capture the flag) has a very detailed environment, and it is easy (and fun!) to ambush people on the opposite faction / team. Each class has its uses in PvP, and all have different uses. Wanna disable that guy without killing him? Get a rogue. Need some heals? Find a Priest. You get the point.
Now for spells and abilities. WoW completely obliterates RS when it comes to these. Not only does WoW have hundreds more PLAYER abilities than RS, but there are possibly THOUSANDS of spells that only npc’s can use. Furthermore, WoW does not require a reagent (or rune) for all of its spells. Instead, you have mana that can regenerate fairly quickly outside of battle. However, I DO like how you can customize your character however you want in RS, and I wish Blizzard would implement that into WoW.
That brings me to my next topic: battles and dungeons. In this, WoW once again beats Runescape. I REALLY hate the almost turn-based combat in runescape (you hit, they hit, you hit, etc.). In WoW, some spells have a cast time, others are instant, and yet others are in between. There’s plenty of variety. Dungeons in WoW are all completely unique. None look the same. Yeah, some may have the same theme, but so what? Every map is slightly different, and some even change theme as you walk through.
Take Halls of stone for example. You walk into what looks like an ancient, yet high tech hall filled with mechanical dwarves and golems. But you turn right and fin a smashed wall. Inside that wall is a network of caves. WoW has some truly beautiful dungeons.
Boss battles: Now, I never saw a boss in RS. But I can assure you, WoW’s boss battles are better. Why? For one thing, most of ‘em are HUGE. Of course, size isn’t everything. That’s where the spells (see my spells section) and enrage timers come in. There is a special strategy for every boss, and they are VERY difficult to defeat if you don’t know that strategy. (For example, look up Heigan the Unclean on youtube.)
World: WoW’s maps are massive. There are a LOT of hidden areas and caves, etc. to explore. Of course, the world SO big it takes forever just to get around. I think RS’s map is kinda flat and boring.
Skills and professions: Runescape is much better than WoW in this aspect. Others have already stated why.
Other features of WoW:
Mounts
FLYING mounts
better soundtrack
10 unique races, all with different emotes, animations, etc.
better camera angle, as well as being able to move the camera . to whatever angle desired
better controls in general
more character customization options
Overall: I think WoW beats RS in all aspects, with a few exceptions.
These are all just my opinions, and I know I’m very biased towards WoW, but you asked for comments, so here’s mine.
Cheers.
i think rs is much better..im now a free player but i was mem some time and it was really cool
my rs name is luxy50 (lvl 91)
rs is way better…u have more variety to choose your armor and weapons…my favorite suit is dragon boots, black dhide chaps, armadyl chesplate, helm of neitizinot, rune crossbow, and spirit shield…wow has nothing like that….wow doesn’t have as much…well armor variety…as in wearing it my name is nathan6851 on runescape (lv 107) anyone add me if u want
runescape lover, player vs player in WoW is only DUEL?!?!?!!
yea ur biased my frnd way to effing biased. WoW mops the floor with runescape. for heaven’s sake u must aim its an mmorpg, not a mmolpg (massively multi-online labor playing game) cuz honestly from wat ur saying, runescape only has labor skills. farming omfg, wat is this harvest moon? gimme a break WoW has better gameplay, storyline, combat, and professions that are useful to ur player. i will admit runescape quests are fun and not repetitive, but how many quests does WoW have compared to runescape’s 200 and something? think before releasing a biased article
To ja3:
Lol you’re funny….
It doesn’t matter if WoW has 10 million quests if they all suck. Course they do.
I rather have 200 quests or w/e runescape has got.
Course Runescape’s quests rock you!
Yea PvP in WoW = Duel = ROFL
Runescape VS WoW SKills = Runescape kills WoW brutally
Thanks for your comment Billybob.
Sounds like a nice outfit. Add me ! : Zawert
omg there is no way rs will ever be even 1/100000000000 as good as wow cz wow got better graphic better monster races more classes better pvp and more to do rs is a game were u lose ur life to get some items and u lose them by beeing killed wow pwns rs
Lol you don’t know what you’re talking about Vasilis. You’re going crazy. Count down you’re acting like a retard
i only say rs cuz u can play for free nd 5 bucks a month aint that bad but 15 just sucks dillhole
i like runescape better because i’ve heard way more stories about people being addicted to WoW…which makes me wonder what type of people plays WoW. i’m not saying that EVERYONE who plays WoW is bad. just saying just saying….
I get what you mean. I think there’s several who is addicted to WoW than there is people who’s addicted to Rs.
Thanks for your comment Eric Gyser!
-Anders Hegelund
AndersHegelund looking up at most of your other comments I’m very confident that you don’t know much about WoW at all.
Anyway I’m just going to point out some reasons why WoW is so much better than runescape…even if they’ve been stated in the article.
QUESTS: WoW has WAY more quests than Runescape ever has and with this high number there is bound to be some repetition, but there is also a lot of variety for them as well. This variety comes with the high levels of traveling you do and how many quests are affected by the different terrain that you explore. WoW also allows you to complete quests with other players which saves on time and eliminates boredom.
PvP combat: It is completely unfair to say that WoW’s PVP system is made up of only duels. The majority of highly-populated WoW realms are PvP realms(player vs player) where members of the opposing factions(alliance vs horde) can fight eachother in neutral areas. You may still participate in duels with your faction and the opposing one, but there is also that world pvp system as well as the numerous battlegrounds there are in WoW. You can only steal enough full rune sets in Runescape before PvP gets boring.
World Size: WoW wins hands down with a map size that destroys that of runescapes. Also, the coloring and display of the world map is orgasmic(especially on maximum display settings)
Travel: WoW has a high number of mounts(flying and land) which increase your travel time to get to a central point of every zone in WoW quickly and efficiently. In runescape all I remember is basic teleporting once you hit a certain level in magic. In WoW you can use devices to travel, gryphons(that any level can use), magic, running, mounts, swimming and more to get to where you need to go. Come on, in runescape don’t you wish that you could summon a helicopter and fly around doing barrel rolls in the air? and seriously, THERE’S MOTORCYCLES NOW!
Combat: WoW has a much higher variety with combat than runescape. You can use your professions to aid you in fighting and create weapons to bash the brains out of that little gnome who tries chewing on your ankle. You are free to move around as you fight and have complete control over what your character does(and you can create binds/macros to link different techniques together). Runescape just seems to have a certain number of attacks that you can do once you reach a certain level in the game which takes away from the excitement of leveling.
Character Skins: WoW has:
Dranei
Dwarves
Gnomes
Humans
Night Elves
Blood Elves
Blood Elves
Orcs
Tauren
Trolls
Undead
All these combined with different classes to go along with them
Runescape has just humans……
The hair and skin design is generally the same thing in both games with not much variety..but the races help in making characters more unique.
Professions: Honestly, when people complain about WoW having only 2 professions that you can use..it just sounds silly..I mean, I wish I could have more than 2 but in all seriousness, you only need 2. You have to take into account that if anyone could make anything then the economy of that server would become so messed up that many people wont be making any money for the professions they use. Also, most people just take the professions that more greatly benefit their race and class which adds to strategy in building a strong character.
I just want people to take these things into account before they start assuming that runescape is better because ‘WOW ONLY HAZ DOOLS’
Thank you.
Sorry but i have to laugh a little here. You must really love that game. I’m impressed by your long comment. I cant really use it for anything. I got my opinions and they are soulbound. (lol)
I know a whole lot about WoW but I still like Runescape better. I’m done with playing wow course it gets boring so easily.
I’m not going to answer back on your comment and tell you everywhere I think you are wrong but you definatley are. – A lot.
Well thanks for your interest.
My tip for you: Write an article.
Best regards,
Anders Hegelund
Runescape wins not because it is a better game, but because you can play it for free. I’m not going to spend a small fortune to see whether or not I like WoW, even though I am sure I’d prefer it to Runescape.
The greatest strength of Runescape is that your friends can play too at no cost to them, and you can play as much or as little as you like and pay nothing.
Capn_Raynor / SwiftrTaylor (lol yes I registered two accounts as part of an experiment to see the differences between playing as a guy/girl. Obviously RS gameplay mechanics don’t care, but the player-to-player communication/respect aspect is markedly different.)
Thanks for your comment Capn Taylor (:P)
I thing you’re right about this..
I’m interesting in the two names you have got.
So what worked best? Man or Woman?
Best regards
-Anders Hegelund
[long post]
(Skip to the bottom if you’re only interested in the quick summary)
Capn Raynor gets ignored, either that or called a noob. If I say anything for the most part it gets ignored. His friends list contains one guy who helped me and a bunch of random people who asked me for help once.
SwiftrTaylor gets listened to, respected, and gets free stuff. Only annoying part is the guys chasing me =P
Her friends list contains a bunch of guys who helped me out, plus a few clan wars friends.
Example:
I wanted to go to the wilderness for the first time. I had no idea how dangerous the wildy was or where clan wars was.
Capn Raynor asked for directions, got ignored. I had to go by myself, then got called a noob a few times for refusing to fight a level 120 (although finding my way wasn’t so bad because I tried it with SwiftrTaylor first)
SwiftrTaylor asked for help, and within a few minutes a level 90 helped me get there and gave me helpful advice about clan wars. Plus when I got there I wasn’t called a noob, just had people giving me friendly advice. I even got complimented when I hit a 3 on a guy with full addy armour =P
Some of the reactions could have been because I play each character slightly differently (I am equally vocal/helpful as both characters whenever possible), but in general SwiftrTaylor commands more respect, especially from higher level players. I think it’s more of a subconscious thing, guys tend to be politer to girls, except for the sad guys who ask me on a date (I either turn them down politely or tell them I’m a guy, depending on how evil I’m feeling at the time. Shockingly, me telling them I’m a guy doesn’t stop some people)
Playing as a guy gives the impression that rs is full of silent grinders and noob-bashers, with the odd friendly player. Capn Raynor has been called “noob’ countless times, and he’s also been called a “****” a few times too (no idea what the words were lol)
Oh, and I think I’ve been complimented once after I helped a player get some decent armour. Although he did try to scrounge 100k off me afterwards, so it wasn’t much of a compliment.
Playing as a girl gives the impression that rs is full of friendly players and a couple of sad perverts. So far I’ve only been called a “btc” (bitch) after I blew raspberries at the opposing clan. Also got called “Hottie” by about ten players, but that’s not an insult, more a sad reflection on how rs players lust after pixelated female characters.
On the whole, I think playing as a girl gives a better runescape experience. I do like being listened to / respected, and getting help is so much easier. It also takes some of the boredom out of grinding when it’s actually possible to have conversations with other players. The only drawback is that I’d much rather play as a guy, since I *am* a guy. But luckily there’s no drawback to playing two accounts, apart from having less time to devote to each. And the fact that I can’t tell if half my friends are on =P
Capn_Raynor / SwiftrTaylor
Very good comment. You should write an article if you didn’t already do so! This was very interesting. i have tried being a girl in Runescape one time and it worked like you say. But I got tired of walking in girl clothes and BEING a girl.. So i switched back to guy
Luckily I god friends even though I’m a guy
-Anders Hegelund / Zawert
runescape rocks wow sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! short and 2 the point
oh and people treat girls on runescape better
You’re damn right Nick
I suppose in a social aspect, Runescape is better than WoW. Other than that, WoW uses much more strategy and beats runescape in almost every way aside from cost to play. I suppose the only reason I ever did play WoW was because of siblings also paying to play. To be honest, runescape is full of way too many kids, so it’s harder to find useful players to work with and progress as a group…WoW seems to have a lot more organization when it comes to groups with usage of guilds, arena teams, parties etc. But whatever, everyone has their opinions on the games so it’s not a big deal. Oh and yeah that perverted guy wanting e-dates thing happens all the time in WoW and RS..and pretty much everywhere else on the internet..I guess I just like WoW more cause there’s just such a huge variety of Player to player interaction with trading, talking, combat and more…
Also, Anders please point out where I went wrong with my previous mega-comment…if you have the time anyway
oh and apologies for double posting blood elves in my first comment that i made a few days ago
I *should* write an article… but I’ve never been that good at writing long coherent stuff. I tend to waffle and repeat myself a lot =P
No seriousley you should! What you wrote to me seemed like an article to me
Do it!
Do it now!
Do it fast!
-Anders Hegelund
I agree with you Nick.
I just still like Runescape better.
But yes: There’s WAY too many annoying kids in Rs… -_-”
-Anders Hegelund
Haha Thanks a lot for your comment Seth!
Very nice comment. You got humor
I added you to my Triond profile. You’re my friend now, even if you don’t want to!
Well I think you’re right in most of this lol but you’re not so detailed lol. But i like the comment haha.
Thanks again!
Best regards,
Anders Hegelund
(I am Capn Raynor / SwiftrTaylor)
Lol, if I have time perhaps I will write an article. Being a “full-time” student doesn’t seem very full time after all =P
Although before I write an article I’d definetly want to play more and make sure what I say is true. There is a possibility that many of my experiences with Capn Raynor no longer apply, as I’ve played him since before the GE, while SwiftrTaylor is only a few months old.
I must say, the comments here surprise me. I’ve always thought WoW had a larger and more vocal fanbase, but there are a surprising number of rs defenders. It’s good to know that there are mature, sensible, and good Runescapers out there. I’ve always favoured mmo’s with a sensible fanbase, such as Nexus War. The only reason I left Runescape for a few years was because I got sick of the immature idiots.
Personally, i like Runescape more. I guess it’s just because of the satisfaction you get from leveling up a skill or when you buy that rare piece of armour. I’d also like to point out that when WoW fanboys say “Z0mG whn u die u luse ur itms gwwwwdddd” it pisses me off. Losing items adds risk to the game and it serves as a punishment to players who arn’t strong enough to fight that particular monster. I don’t know what happens when you die in WoW so if anyone would like to fill me in i’d appreciate it.
Jordan/Moothead3 <– Runescape name =] Add me!
ruenscape all the way its cooler and less expensive:)
I’m sick of people like Seth assuming that dueling is the only PvP in WoW.
and btw Seth, you say Jagex has more games than blizzard?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_Entertainment#Titles
Even if Jagex did have more games, it’s quality over quantity and either way Blizzard kicks Jagex’s ass.
Atleast play both games and get the full experience in each before making silly assumptions.
To Stealth107:
I see what you mean. And being student can make it hard to do anything else. i’m student and when the summerholidays are over I’ll need a job: i also want to go to some fitnes center too… Haven’t got enough time.
Well about the Runescape fans i think you’re right. it’s fantastic to see some many people defend Runescape and actually write long detailed comments. That’s so nice.
I also think it’s great to see that it’s not just kids playing Runescape course there’s a LOT of kids there.
The game, as you mentioned, has got too many “immature idiots”.
Thanks for another great comment!
Best regards,
Anders Hegelund
To Jordan C:
Thanks for the great comment Jordan.
I agree with you. All the way! nothing much to say
Best regards,
Anders Hegelund / Zawert (Runescape)
To Chris:
it’s right some of the things you say but then again.
Quality beats Quantity but again we can discuss the graphics and the gameplay so lets skip that part.
Best regards,
Anders
MMO-wise, Jagex has made many more than Blizzard. Blizzard has made many more games, but they’re RTS games, and we’re talking about MMO’s here
Losing stuff when you die is great. It stops people from just thinking “Hey, I can go do whatever, because if I die it doesn’t matter”. I don’t necessarily like how Jagex implemented it, but it’s a lot more “realistic” and dying has consequences, which I think is important. Of course when I die I’ll be a bit pissed off, but it encourages thinking carefully before going somewhere dangerous.
I agree wih you Stealth107!
You’re so right.
Can’t say much more
i think the author of this review is rather bias and clearly prefers runescape more than WoW, no offence mate, but you clearly add in more of the cons in Wow rather than its pros. nevertheless, eventhough you show a few likings in some areas in WoW, you do not show as much exuberance as you do fo runescape
I am aware of that. That is because Im more experienced with Runescape. Thats why i need all you guys to tell me what you think. It would be hell of a work to write everything down. i think this article is long enough. Thanks for pointing it out. you’re right “Anonymous”.
Best regards,
Anders
one thing to say, when you said that runescape “didn’t win” at the part of deaths because you lsoe your stuff, you forgot to mention the good part for the attacker rather then the victim. this of course is that you obtain those items he/she lost. i think that’s awesome, i’d juust hate to be on the other end of that arrangement.
Before I say anything I want to tell you that I’ve played both games for quite a while. I’m 110 in RS (played off and on since classic) and I have a 80 and couple of 70+ in wow, so I feel i’ve played enough of each to make a fair comparison.
Skills
I think that it is nice that that you have so many different skills in runescape but they are so limited compared to those in wow. Smithing in rs is pretty pointless since the best armor you can make is rune which is pretty nooby compared to the cost of leveling that skill. The same goes to a lot of the other skills. not to mention that every skill in rs is a total grindfest. At least in wow you can level your skill as you level your character, and the high end products you can make are quite powerful. The two profession limit, which you all seem to hate, is a good idea to me. It makes for a real economy in wow because you will have to buy another players wares a lot of the time. You collect recipes in wow and that makes you unique in your skill, you can find a recipe for a powerful item and have people paying you the big bucks to make it for them, that’s a good feeling. But enough on skills, overall rs has more but they’re more useful i wow so my OPINION is wow wins on skills.
Combat/PVP
like others have said, rs is a i hit you you hit me, “potter!” “food nub!!” blech lol. But it can be really fun in castlewars or in multiway dungeons. Wow’s combat is better i think. You have “rotations” (the order in which you usually use certain attacks) to take down npcs but in pvp you need to think about what attack to use, better silence that priest before he heals that other guy raping your friends. Dungeons and raid bosses have certain strategies and the bosses can be so difficult but in rs you just pot, pray, and eat a sandwich while the boss at the end of your epic quest dies. But jagex has gotten a lot better with battles i have to admit. Sometimes you have to switch prayers or you get one-shotted, and there are other things i can’t remember that make it fun. But in wow, the combat is infinitely more involved than rs so again wow wins.
Quests
This one is tough for me lol. I have the quest cape currently in RS =P because the quests (usually) have great storylines and you do feel so accomplished at the end of puzzles, bosses, etc. Most of the quests in wow are “kill x, find y” but that’s because quests are the main way to level in wow. Quests in rs award barely any xp except for that one which gives i think 100k to three skills? I forget. but anyways, there are a few in wow that are fun, death knight starting area, or the warlock quest to steal a flaming spiked horse for your own ^.^ But overall, runescape wins because the quests are so creative and engaging. (bring out prifddinas!!!)
Death x.x
lol. It can be an adrenaline rush (desert treasure when it first came out) but I prefer keeping those items.
I like wow’s version better. But i am so biased on that aspect I don’t think it’s fair for me to say one’s better than the other. I just don’t pvp in RS outside of minigames. Never even logged into a pvp world or played bounty hunter. But the thought of losing all my hard-earned items while questing is sad
Races/Factions
Love it, used to play alliance now play horde (who are not really the “evil” side as you put it, we’re misunderstood =p ) But the different races give you a really unique feel and have race-specific abilities. Runescape “KINDA” has factions since many players choose to “follow” zammy, sara, or guthix but we’re all really on the same side when we do quests so whats the point? Wow wins in my mind
Community
It’s hard to say, runescape’s can be childish at times but then again in wow they rip on kids a lot. I’m 18 so both sides like me lol. In wow, once you hit 80 you’re expected to not ask anymore dumb questions and know everything, if not, you are teh nub. I don’t like that and it’s part of why i’m not playing wow atm. In runescape you’re always getting called a nub and its funny! A lot of people are noob friendly and will help you out until you start begging for cash pl0x. In wow they’re also friendly as long as you’re not a high level asking “dumb questions”. You get in more fights in wow “f***ing nub ninjaed mah lewt!” “we lost *battleground* cause you suck monkey balls!” I like hanging around rs more because it’s laid back compared to wow. So i say runescape trumps wow in community.
Movement
Wow makes you feel more immersed in the game but it also takes a long time to get somewhere without teleports (except for hearthstones, mages etc). You get used to runescape and the squares aren’t so bad after a while. In wow you can go anywhere…ish. Mounts make wow cool and almost make up for the lack of teleports for all. In runescape, it’s faster to move around but in wow it’s mroe fun, so your choice on this one gang.
Weapons/ Armor
I promise this is the last paragraph lol. Wow wins and here’s why: there is some badass looking armor, more of it, more unique. In runescape, you get barrows until you’re super rich or super strong then you get crap outta the god wars dungeon. It’s nice and simple yes but it gets boring. In wow, you can get some sweet armor and weapons from dungeons and people will always say “your sword is teh sexeh!!” lol. But all the stats get overwhelming. this much agility=this much crit for this class, but only this much for that class. Most of the time it’s way over my head. But the amount of gear and upgrades (enchants etc) makes it unique, and you don’t feel like one of a thousand walking around in barrows.
Cost
So like most people before me said, it’s really a matter of choice and what you prefer. I believe both are worth what you have to pay, (unless you buy wow, BC, and WOTLK, at the same time plus a subscription which equals over 100 dollars i think.) But when bought in increments it doesn’t seem bad at all. Sorry this turned into a cost paragraph, I lied before =o
In closing, most of runescape is a grindfest through and through. Wow can feel the same but mixes it up better. Runescape is more chill, wow is more hardcore. I really like em both and I bounce back and forth between them. I thought I would decide which I liked better by the end of this but it made me realize I like both pretty equally! This turned out longer than I thought but I hope it was helpful.
Sekara of Runescape
Icedblood of Tanaris (not currently playing)
You’re very rightlollipoopoo
All I can say is WOW at times was pretty easy compared to runescape… fiahing took only a few seconds to get to max because you could only get a certain skill at certain lvls you compare this to runescape it is much more of an achievement, I might one day play wow for real but it seems like runescape is the better choice hands down, but sure you could argue that other games like COD5 and star wars knights of the old republic can be just as equally fun if not better… (im only saying this because I have them on my table next to me) But as for waiting for downloading the game comparing it to how fun the games are the cost and all it seems runescape is much better (I remember waiting days just to play wow and its a pain and if you asked me to go through that again I wouldn’t!)
Overall runescape is better and you can really take world of warcraft’s side as it isn’t really as good I’d suggest comparing runescape to dungeons and dragons online but apparently that isn’t as good altho it begs to ask why someone would compare the two for an obvious answer.
O and another thing: there are way too many expansion packs for WOW… wouldn’t it just be simpler to combine all of them in to one and leave it like that? It just seems a waste of money if not time just to have all those expansion packs!
And I have seen alot of people say runescape is better so I think the point has been proven too much
…now back to trying to get into the damn penguin clan chats lol (how the hell did they fill up so fast I wounder?)
my mom plays runesccape. 0.0 And she likes it.
i wasnt kiddin lol
I agree with you 02Marren. – I like RS better too.
To Somekid: Haha. nice… My ex-girlfriends dad played it too. Pretty weird

WoW is
wow obliterates Runescape. It has 11.5+ million players. Runescape is impressive graphics to be made Completely in java .. But look at Blizzard and Jagex! Blizzard has made more Famous games, like the Diablo Series. Yeah, Yeah runescape is good in skills but the economy would be ruined if that happened in wow! i’m pretty happy with the two skills, i’m a 80 Rogue oh Khadgar Eu. Wow is addicting i know, but that’s once you start doing really big raids. And comparing a Browser Game to a full on MMOPRG which is No1 rated. on the first day Wotlk (Wrath of the Lich King) was released 2.8 Million players bought it in the same day. That’s Nearly as many people play runescape as far as i know. But wow’s map smash’s runescapes small map! There’s Kalimdor, Azeroth, Northrend and Outlands. Each holding around 30 different areas. Runescape bosses aren’t really that cool, not like many wow bosses, such as Onyxia which you go into her lair and slay her, she throws firebolts, flys and thrash’s flames all about the place. In Vanilla wow (Orginal wow) it use to take 40 people to defeat her. End Ulduar 25 boss smashs huge flames and brings stars down and summons Blackholes. But can you be thrown 200 Feat into the air falling to you earthy doom while trying to kill Archimonde? No. Can you do Jousting fight’s against the opposing factions champions in a group of five people? No. Can you summon an army of the dead as a Deathknight who served under the reign of the Lich King, Leader of the Dead. Undead. Can you drive tanks which 5 Players shoot flames and cannonbolts out simultaniously? No. Can you parachute from a flying ship into your enemie’s fort? No. Can you drain souls to make shards to summon Demons? No. Can you use enginnering to make a flying plane? No.
I like actually having *Many* things to use, like Ambushing a warlock walking up the aisle to take in flag in WSG, or shooting at tanks with my cannon. But yes runescape is very good for a Browser. But the thing is you can’t compare the worlds BIGGEST MMO to a Browser game which bores me of life
:(
Sorry if it was a bit biased but it’s true :O
Wow < Runescape
i have play both games for 2 years each. i like both i cant choose with wow i liked twinking alot (for 6 months is was all i did) and tanking raids and such but then they brought in wotlk and i absoluteley hated tanking then because it was easy (u want a challenge). with runescape i like skilling and making the gp to get the item so i look better and am better then the player next to me.
(im a very competive person) in rs atm im trying to get 99 wc. 70 atm
Hey Smilez.
I agree with some of what you say but I think you look too much at Blizzard VS Jagex. If the question would be which of those two companies is the best it would of course be Blizzard.
I still don’t regret my article and I hold on to every word I’ve written
Thank you very much for your interest in this article and the comment you wrote Smilez.

WoW still owns….got the best reviews of all MMORPGs
WoW is 95% in gamespot and PC gamer while runescape only got 65% on gamespot.
Metacritic gave WoW 93% and gamesreviewers gave WoW full marks.
Runescape is a lacklustre
And i have a lvl 90 on runescpae and only lv38 in WoW….
yet i already think that WoW is better.
Not just graphics and community but its security and websites are excellent and state of the art….
Disillusioned RS player… I don’t know is what you say it right. I do know that WoW isn’t more secure than Runescape and that it’s pretty much up to each person to say which game is the best. I think WoW id SO bad because you do the same and the same and the same and everything gets boring very quickley. I deleted the 2 other comments of yours. I don’t think it’s smart of you to post 3 comments and act like you are 3 persons. I can tell that you wrote them all becourse all 3 were written almost the same time.
-Best regards,
Anders
lol you have quite clearly ignored all aspects that wow has which runescape does not. youve ignored talents, battlegrounds, arena, raids, all pvp aspects accept dueling, achievements, mini pets and loads more. wow has many mini games such as pet collecting, farming bosses for that exteremly rare mount, playing the auction house to make gold, 2 manning old raids, collecting rare holiday items, searching for exteremly rare creatures, collecting real world trading cards for codes for unique items, achievement completing, guess you could say hard modes, i could go on.
Some one mentioned the thrill of buying abit of gear or something?? how about the thrill of 25 people raiding a boss with you requiring tactics and certain group build ups to defeat it and then seeing that bow youve been waiting for drop knowing that its now yours.
also why are you ignoring all posts that back up wow is it because you know you cant actually defend runescape against them? and lol wows soundtrack rapes runescapes side ways.
Here, here!
What??
runescaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMHO WoW is better then Runescape
I have leveled to 92 on RS so I think I have experience in playing ( on Red Head 930)
I used to play RS for like 4 years ( took a pretty long break though) and I had to admit, I had fun. But when I was sitting at a bank, clicking over and over again for hours trying to get 99 fletching for my first skill cape ( yes i know fletching is easy but still) I realized… wtf am I doing playing this game??? I mean all you do is click around and stuff. Now my question is why do you have fun clicking things for hours? The answer is, you don’t.
WoW is different though. Getting to level 80 on wow is like 1/10 how long it takes to get to level 138 on RS. It’s alot funner with the ride array of skills, classes, races etc. Gameplay is more indepth and the PVP is excellent ( All though I loved pwning noobs for all their stuff, but that is not entirely possible on RS anymore…) with all the BG and arenas.
Im not even sure how I had fun playing rs now that i got WoW but all I can say is …. WoW FTW!!!! The sad part is that I would still be playing rs if I hadn’t gotten wow from my cousin =)
btw why are you defending rs so much? you stated in your article that you liked both the same. And although questing is repetitive at lower levels, once you hit 80 or whatever the level cap may be it is heck of alot of fun with all the raids and pvp.
But I understand why some people would like rs over wow even though I can’t really explain it. I guess it just the fact that i’ve played rs for so long.
Instead of arguing though, the best thing to do would be to just accept that some people like things that you don’t ( like I like WoW over rs) and live with it because the opinions of others aren’t gonna effect you.
Dieing in runescape is better than dieing in Warcraft, im a pker and i pla yboth games, i prefer runescape’s way because i get lots of money that way and i dont die all the time because i am not a noob, better than warcraft’s pointless dueling, both games have their ups and downs
I have to say you know nothing of the runescape storyline
I think your wrong about RS’s storyline, if you actually read about it, its way more interesting then that. There was the marajattt or whatever, and you no, Bandos, Armadyl are also gods of runescape. There was also god called Zaros. And u missed out the barrow brothers, there linked in with the story aswell. You missed a whole lot out of runescapes storyline.
I know I didn\\\’t tell the whole rs story. But either did I tell the whole WoW story. I know about all the gods, but it\\\’s not worth mentioning that much about it I think. You may have another opinion.
People U gata be kidding me! wow owns rs by alot ! the only good thing rs has got is the pvp its fun making pures and stuff but wow owns rs.. by alot
Imo, RS is better, but WoW does have good things. Btw, this thing is FULL of errors. For the gravestone thing in RS, you can bless the gravestone if your prayer is 70 or higher, making it last a full 60 minutes. (No joke.) And RS is “safer”. By that I mean all the high lvl monsters r in faraway places. So where you start there are lvl 1, 2, and 3 monsters. Around your level. In WoW, (this is a personal experience) you can find lvl 5 monsters. (I’m talking about those stone boar things south of Goldshire or wtf its called.) Go a bit east, and there’s lvl 10 Bandits. Cross a small river, and BAM! Wolves so high lvl you can’t tell what their lvl is. Srsly, WHAT, THE, HELL. And, in WoW, EVERYWHERE is multi-combat. In RS, only certain places. And with one of the newest RS releases, they made a “Safe Zone”. The “Safe Zone” is a large area, with no monster’s lvl going above 30. It covers Draynor Village, Lumbridge, and Varrock, I also believe Falador, but I haven’t confirmed that. Surrounding the “Safe Zone” are gates, leading out into the not-so-safe zone. And also, crafting (in RS) does NOT involve metals! (Except silver and gold. Too fragile to be smithed.) Crafting involves making ranger armour, cutting gems, making jewellery, making silver items, and various things. (Can’t remember more
).
And, yes, I just realized that WoW quests are very similar to each other with the “Kill (random number) (random animal) for (random item), then bring back the (random item).” While RS quests… don’t really follow a guideline, although some have storylines. The ending to the Cave Goblin questline was violent for RS, but still was fun. I gotta give the “rating” to WoW though. Like in Wow, you can technically say ANYTHING you want, while RS has a language filter. Of course, WoW has a filter too, but you can turn it off >:D
Alright, I’m done.
Runescape: 9.0/10
World of Warcraft: 8.5/10 + .5 Bonus points for SWEARING!, which means WoW’s score is 9.0/10.
God damn it people this article is getting a bit old and I don\’t have time to update it so ofcourse It\’s not up to date.
Thanks to KR-85 for the comment.
I think one should buy out the other, or they should merge, and take the parts of one and add it to the other, and make one big game.
have the original of both still, but have hybrid also.
the reason for WOW quests in the races. the first starting point quest for tauren is to kill like 10 plainstriders (lvl 1). for orcs it is to kill like 10 crabs (lvl 1)
its just that all the lands need to have equal quests, so races are focused on the race, not the starting land.
Well, I play WoW now, but i used to do Runescape, i’ll be fair to say that i went to lvl 42 in Runescape, and i know that’s not that awesomely high, and i know i only played free part, but i hope you guys don’t mind i give my opinion on both while i did? oh and my character’s name was Verxillion and i had the ermm.. blue gear.. forgot name haha
If you don’t want to read everything just scroll down and see what i said in total, or you can skip parts of my post.
Runescape:
Leveling up: Runescape is alot of farming to level up, that’s something i don’t like about it, but the quests are nice, too bad you can’t get very high level with the quests, and they’re pretty hard.
PvP: I didn’t do alot of PvP in Runescape except for abit of wilderness and i’ve been to the arena, but i didn’t understand it alot, i got in one fight and i lost it badly haha
PvEnvironment: I didn’t do any big bosses, but i’ve watched some videos of bosses on youtube when i played it, and i must say they’re pretty boring, they don’t have any spells that make them really unique..
Payment: Runescape is nice because it’s free, but if you play free you can get bored quick.
Then you can play payed, but if you pay in my country it’s half the money of WoW, and if you got the money, then you could just aswell pick WoW in my opinion.
World of Warcraft:
Leveling Up: Leveling in WoW is okay, you have times where you do get really really bored, because you only got boring quests where you got to walk alot, and this really gets worse each time you make a new character.
But now with the new expansion when you have 1 character of lvl 55 of above you can make a Hero character which starts at lvl 55, and then you’r past the boring part of the leveling and you can start at the fun part of the leveling immedialetely.
PvP: WoW has alot of cool battlegrounds, and different classes, talents and gear make it really fun as you’ll have to fight different every time, against another person, who will fight in a different way then the other one too.
PvEnvironment: WoW is Superior in PvE, the bosses are all 100% unique and all have cool special spells, at some you fight on vehicles, or drakes, or the floor crumbles beneath your feet, the ceiling comes down, and alot of stuff like that.
PvE in WoW also requires alot of dedication at some times, and you sometimes have to bring alot of potions, bandages, food and that kind of stuff, and you really have to work together.
Payment: Yes WoW loses here, badly.
WoW is double the money, or sometimes triple, and people say you’r crazy if you pay it, but if you got the money, and you want to play a fun game, why not?, i myself have no problems paying it and i’m 14, delivering paper in the village, and soon i’ll work in a store and it’s even less of a problem, and someone mentioned that why not just all the expansions in one? Well, that’s because Blizzard keeps developing new parts in the world, new bosses, instances, battlegrounds, arena’s, classes, races, mounts, items, gear, weapons, and loads more of stuff.
Conclusion:
WoW beats Runescape in alot, except for payment.
So my advice would be: Can you pay WoW and you want to try out a new game? just try it.
Can’t you pay WoW and you still want to play a fun mmorpg? play Runescape.
Hope no1 is offended by this, and hope i’ve been to some good help to anyone.
Btw for people that don’t believe i play WoW (well, i did, stopped last month), you can search up my characters that are lvl 80, names etc down here
Troll Priest Xoriouz, server: Emeriss EU
Orc Hunter Sheherazade, server: Emeriss EU
Tauren Druid Xorious, server: Dragonmaw EU
Why everyone keeps complaining about losing items?
I think thats what maeks it more fun becourse you will risk something. And in RuneScape you actualy get something for killing players so there has to be a risk.
I agree “RS” !
I loved RS when I did play it but well I quit for WoW only because I needed a change and found that I couldn’t go back on my descision to switch.I tried but I’m partial to WoW I do like RS though its very……..interesting.When I tried to get on for like a little bit on RS to see how it changed I realized that I didn’t remember how to play but I like both.
By the way I did get to lvl60 in RS and I’m currently lvl32 in WOW much harder to lvl in WOW
You’re very right. Thanks for showing your interest Ryan!
And thanks for the comment!
