World of Warcraft vs. RuneScape: Who Beats Who?

This article will look into every little piece of the games and find out which is the best.

So you probably want to know what is good about Runescape and what is good about WoW.
I’ve been playing both games for a long time, so I’m going to tell you what I think. If you disagree, just comment and. I really hope you don’t just think “Yea that g33k is probably right. I just agree.” I would love if some of you told me your own opinions. In this article i will talk about the P2P Runescape since F2P Runescape has nothing much to offer. Well here we go…

Lets start with “Skills & Professions”

Skills:

In WoW there’s following skills: (These are also called professions)

Alchemy (Make potions to raise your damage or health etc.)

Blacksmithing (Craft weapons & armor)

Cooking (Cook food like bread or fish to heal you if you’re low on health.)

Enchanting (Enchant weapons & armor to get magic abilities. Example: +50 armor for your boots.)

Engineering (This is the skill where you make everything out of metal, like robots, combat protectors, helicopters.. the list goes on.)

First Aid (Be able to heal you and your teammates. Higher levels allows you to heal people with high health points faster)

Fishing (Catch fish and cook them with your cooking skill. These are used to heal yourself when eaten.)

Herbalism (Gather plants to make potions with your Alchemy profession.)

Jewel Crafting (This profession lets you craft rings, necklaces and trinkets. It also lets you make jewels to fill in the sockets in your armor. These gems works a bit like enchanting.)

Skinning (Skin the animals you kill and use their hide for leather armor.)

Leatherworking (This is the skill you use to make hide & leather into armor.)

Poisoning (This is primary a rogue skill. Rogues uses this skill to make poison. The poison is attached to their weapons to give more damage. The poison may also have a bleed effect where the opponent may suffer for several seconds.)

dude i wasn’t talking what good or bad in rs i was comparing them

  2. Posted July 5, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Personally, I like RuneScape more. I had it for quite some time. I find it easier to play (not easy as difficulty). Also its cheap, and I have a lot of friends there. You also can play it anywhere with any computer (mostly) without downloading crap =)

  3. Posted July 5, 2009 at 12:28 pm

Ilyaz thats what im doing too. I*m comparing them but to know which one is the best you need to know what the good and bad things is in the games, right?

Thanks for your comment Master kenth.
    - Im for RuneScape too.

You’re right in you don’t need to download anything (at least not much) And that’s what’s nice about RS

You are completely wrong my freind, WoW quests have a ton lot more story behind them, they are more intresting, rs quests are more, Kiddy. PVP there is arena\’s and BG for wow, bg being battlegrounds, capture the flags, capture certain points to increase score, they even mixed those two together, there is now siege warfare on WoW aswell, where as in RS you can only go 1v1, or get PJ\’ed and lose all your stuff, where as in WoW you lose nothing, the only downside to dieing is a short run from a graveyard and your items being \”broken\” i could go on, WoW wrecks runescape easily.

  5. Posted July 6, 2009 at 9:01 am

You’ve got to be kidding me.
If you’ve ever played Runescape (and by this i don’t mean played til level 10 or something like that) then you will find out that Runescape quests are much more unique and nice to complete and work on. I stand my ground as i say that WoW quests is boring and non-unique. Most of the WoW quests is like: “Kill 20 monsters and bring back “something” … ” I must disagree with you here. WoW quests really sucks. But i really think that WoW has got a much better storyline and ofcourse with a good storyline they are able to create good quests. They’re just not as smart as RuneScape in making quests. That’s the way it is.

PVP.. If you knewhow many minigames/pvp/battlegrounds/arenas there is in Runescape then you wouldn’t write that. Runescape has every kind of player vs player game there is and you don’t lose your stuff here.

In the wilderness you’re able to kill people and take most of their stuff. Ofcourse there’s the risk of duying yourself too and that sucks. If you can’t risk anything in a game then there’s no meaning playing it. If a game is secure all the way it’ll get boring. And boring is surely the word for WoW.

Runescape own WoW in many ways but WoW has also got a lot of good things.

Seriously guys no body is right, its your own OPINION and that is a very important word, Now i like runescapes quests and the atmosphere of it..

    BUT

WoW has the team play, the items, and the headest :P

Personally they are both Epic wins, dont argue if you dont like one then you dont like it.. It is as simple as that.

  7. Posted July 6, 2009 at 11:20 am

I agree with the “If these two games was mixed right, there would be a powerful game” statement, because it’s true. Both games have their strongpoints, and weakpoints, but they’re both fun to play. I personally enjoy RS more, just because I’ve played it longer, but that’s just me.

    Great article!

  8. Posted July 6, 2009 at 4:06 pm

I must say publisher that you are a bit opinionated it would have been better if you didn’t write your opinions because now uve started a massive arguement.
Nice guide though I have only played the demo of World of Warcraft and I have played Runescape. It told me most of the best bits of the game thx!

WOW is pretty interesting fo ra while but…
apart from the graphics and the story along with the flashy few spells min the main screen

i think runescape is waaaay better
with the quests to get xp, unlock items, interesting stories
and best of all skillcapes, the thing that drives you to maxing the skill

also the 2 skills at a time thing sucks

btw during your comparison, you totally pushed WOW for every detailt they had, for instance

    ”ranging, bow and arrow”
more like, bow and arrows, throwing knifes, crossbows, darts, throwing axes, exploding chinchompas, obsidian disks and a few more i can’t name off the top of my head

and i think runescape is very well organized i’d hate it if all 130 or so spells were spammed on my screen compared to the few WOW has

and wow seperates the skill of crafting into 4 skills
and considering you can only usde two at a time
if one was leather and one was jewelry

you’d be using half of one runescape skill.
in my opinion the only arguments world of warcraft has for it’s sorry ass is
”a nice story at the begining – lasts 2 minutes”
”better graphics” – not really, just zoomed in more with crapier controls”, also takes too much effort running everywhere…
”you don’t lose your items” – wheres the thrill in that?

oh ya and you can’t even fight.
what’s the point!, about half of runescape is getting your combat skills to lean to one side and kill other players!

also another point, world of warcraft – kill goblins and steal there boxes!!!

    =_=”

runescape, you search for an item, talk to a person unlock some special door follow a grasping story, complete a puzzle, kill a boss monster for the quest, bring talk to somebody else and quest complete

”you can now equip the Dragon Scimitar”
you have gained 20,000 strength, attack and hitpoints xp
you can now attempt the obstical course
you can talk to ________ for an additional 20,000 xp
you have gained 2 quest points”

    world of warcraft, 5,000 experience.

and also runescpae isn’t for little children as sombody else mentioned

oh yeah and also, theres 3 spell books i consider the basic, the guthix book, good for your everyday uses

ancients, the zamorak book – good for pking freezing your opponents etc., teleporting to intricate spots

lunar saradomin – healing somebody from poison, vegeance:- returning 3/4 of the damage done on you to them, teleporting lots of people to a spot

WOW, has no sense of achievment, and you hardly make friends there, your more likely to make enemies.

You’re very right in most of the stuff you say but stuff as “wow has not got better graphic”.. Um. I like runescape better than wow but WoW has got better graphic and better control.. Thats how it is.

It seem like you’re trying to make Runescape look better than it is. There’s no need for that. You think RS rock. I think RS rock and there’s not much more to it.

Im glad you took time to write this nice comment and give me your opinion.

Good to have another Runescaper on the team.

i think runescape is better and about the armor and weapons i think that runescape is better because if you have expensive armor evryone knows that and you can feel good about yourself knowing that everyone knows your rich. in WoW i think with so much armor nobody knows if youre actually rich or not and i think thats plain dumb any way great article man (except for the loads of errors lol =P)

Well, WoW wins imo, landscapes are much more diverse theres a bigger world to explore and im not sure cause when i played RS i got to level 7 and got bored but in RS can you group up with 25 people and clear out a floating ziggurat full of monsters and bosses like you can in WoW? (referring to the raid: Naxxramas)

Last time i checked. no. lol. ( correct me if im wrong plz :D )

Can you raid enemy factions cities and slaughter their leaders?

And in WoW yes you can only have 2 main proffessions at a time but then you can have cooking-fishing-first aid aswell. and you can only have 2 main professions but thats cause they are deep and let you create many things.

Im not sure but in RS is there such a thing as an Auction House linked to all Allied players where players can put items on with a set price and others bid on them? -just like an ingame ebay? Are there mounts in RS? are there TALENTS in RS?> where you tweak and customize your characters abilities to accel him/her in 1 of 3 areas, or half and half? the list goes on!!!! – Can you do these things in RS? you can in WOW.

  19. Posted July 10, 2009 at 9:09 am

SneakyGuest you’re very wrong. Everything you say is like “I’m not sure” and this means you aren’t really sure on anything.

Does runescape have crazy landscapes? yes: They got snow, forrest, desert, normal, cave. Everything.

Does Runescape have a huge world with a lot of islands and places you can sail to? Is this world actually BIG? yes: This world is so crazy big. I’m level 96 and have only seen bit more than half of it.

If you got to Level 7 you haven’t experienced anything in Rs.
Therefore none of your arguments is good.

2 skills sucks. They aren’t that deep my friend.

You can’t raid in Runescape. That’s right. How do a level 7 know that?

We got the Grand Exchange which is actually the same as Auction House in WoW.

    Runescape ain’t got mounts. Unfortunatly.

Of and by the way. The list stops there. There’s nothing much more to tell.

But what is to tell is all the stuff Runescape has got that WoW HASN’T. You don’t know what it is if you didn’t read my article and if you’re a level 7 you might not even know what the names of the armor you can get. Lol :)

  20. Posted July 10, 2009 at 2:16 pm

i reallt like rs more then WoW because in rs there is like a grande exchange and stuff and i havent played woW 4 a long time so i cant remember anything from it so=P wait not =P =D

  21. Posted July 10, 2009 at 8:58 pm

rs is better because u have emotes i don’t no if u have that in WoW

  22. A very opinionated person
    Posted July 10, 2009 at 9:03 pm

    I personally prefer WoW.
Many of you have said that WoW quests suck… and in the lower levels, I agree. HOWEVER, with the new expansion (Wrath of the Lich King), the quests have become much more in depth. In the Deathknight starting zone (and all of the areas in Northrend), all of the quests actually change the map (ex. finishing a certain quest causes the scourge to take over an enemy town)
For instance, Blizzard implemented a new “vehicle” system in which you can ride something (be it a horse, tank, chain-gun turret, etc.) and fight in it. In these vehicles you get totally new abilities to use. These quests are some of the most fun quests I have ever done.
As for PvP, I think WoW beats Runescape. Warsong Gulch (the equivalent of capture the flag) has a very detailed environment, and it is easy (and fun!) to ambush people on the opposite faction / team. Each class has its uses in PvP, and all have different uses. Wanna disable that guy without killing him? Get a rogue. Need some heals? Find a Priest. You get the point.
Now for spells and abilities. WoW completely obliterates RS when it comes to these. Not only does WoW have hundreds more PLAYER abilities than RS, but there are possibly THOUSANDS of spells that only npc’s can use. Furthermore, WoW does not require a reagent (or rune) for all of its spells. Instead, you have mana that can regenerate fairly quickly outside of battle. However, I DO like how you can customize your character however you want in RS, and I wish Blizzard would implement that into WoW.
That brings me to my next topic: battles and dungeons. In this, WoW once again beats Runescape. I REALLY hate the almost turn-based combat in runescape (you hit, they hit, you hit, etc.). In WoW, some spells have a cast time, others are instant, and yet others are in between. There’s plenty of variety. Dungeons in WoW are all completely unique. None look the same. Yeah, some may have the same theme, but so what? Every map is slightly different, and some even change theme as you walk through.
Take Halls of stone for example. You walk into what looks like an ancient, yet high tech hall filled with mechanical dwarves and golems. But you turn right and fin a smashed wall. Inside that wall is a network of caves. WoW has some truly beautiful dungeons.
Boss battles: Now, I never saw a boss in RS. But I can assure you, WoW’s boss battles are better. Why? For one thing, most of ‘em are HUGE. Of course, size isn’t everything. That’s where the spells (see my spells section) and enrage timers come in. There is a special strategy for every boss, and they are VERY difficult to defeat if you don’t know that strategy. (For example, look up Heigan the Unclean on youtube.)
World: WoW’s maps are massive. There are a LOT of hidden areas and caves, etc. to explore. Of course, the world SO big it takes forever just to get around. I think RS’s map is kinda flat and boring.
Skills and professions: Runescape is much better than WoW in this aspect. Others have already stated why.
    Other features of WoW:
    Mounts
    FLYING mounts
    better soundtrack
10 unique races, all with different emotes, animations, etc.
better camera angle, as well as being able to move the camera . to whatever angle desired
    better controls in general
    more character customization options

Overall: I think WoW beats RS in all aspects, with a few exceptions.
These are all just my opinions, and I know I’m very biased towards WoW, but you asked for comments, so here’s mine.
    Cheers.

runescape lover, player vs player in WoW is only DUEL?!?!?!!
yea ur biased my frnd way to effing biased. WoW mops the floor with runescape. for heaven’s sake u must aim its an mmorpg, not a mmolpg (massively multi-online labor playing game) cuz honestly from wat ur saying, runescape only has labor skills. farming omfg, wat is this harvest moon? gimme a break WoW has better gameplay, storyline, combat, and professions that are useful to ur player. i will admit runescape quests are fun and not repetitive, but how many quests does WoW have compared to runescape’s 200 and something? think before releasing a biased article

  26. Posted July 14, 2009 at 11:24 am

    To ja3:

    Lol you’re funny….
It doesn’t matter if WoW has 10 million quests if they all suck. Course they do.

I rather have 200 quests or w/e runescape has got.
    Course Runescape’s quests rock you!

Yea PvP in WoW = Duel = ROFL

Runescape VS WoW SKills = Runescape kills WoW brutally :)

  33. Chris
    Posted July 18, 2009 at 1:59 am

AndersHegelund looking up at most of your other comments I’m very confident that you don’t know much about WoW at all.
Anyway I’m just going to point out some reasons why WoW is so much better than runescape…even if they’ve been stated in the article.
QUESTS: WoW has WAY more quests than Runescape ever has and with this high number there is bound to be some repetition, but there is also a lot of variety for them as well. This variety comes with the high levels of traveling you do and how many quests are affected by the different terrain that you explore. WoW also allows you to complete quests with other players which saves on time and eliminates boredom.
PvP combat: It is completely unfair to say that WoW’s PVP system is made up of only duels. The majority of highly-populated WoW realms are PvP realms(player vs player) where members of the opposing factions(alliance vs horde) can fight eachother in neutral areas. You may still participate in duels with your faction and the opposing one, but there is also that world pvp system as well as the numerous battlegrounds there are in WoW. You can only steal enough full rune sets in Runescape before PvP gets boring.
World Size: WoW wins hands down with a map size that destroys that of runescapes. Also, the coloring and display of the world map is orgasmic(especially on maximum display settings)
Travel: WoW has a high number of mounts(flying and land) which increase your travel time to get to a central point of every zone in WoW quickly and efficiently. In runescape all I remember is basic teleporting once you hit a certain level in magic. In WoW you can use devices to travel, gryphons(that any level can use), magic, running, mounts, swimming and more to get to where you need to go. Come on, in runescape don’t you wish that you could summon a helicopter and fly around doing barrel rolls in the air? and seriously, THERE’S MOTORCYCLES NOW!
Combat: WoW has a much higher variety with combat than runescape. You can use your professions to aid you in fighting and create weapons to bash the brains out of that little gnome who tries chewing on your ankle. You are free to move around as you fight and have complete control over what your character does(and you can create binds/macros to link different techniques together). Runescape just seems to have a certain number of attacks that you can do once you reach a certain level in the game which takes away from the excitement of leveling.
    Character Skins: WoW has:
    Dranei
    Dwarves
    Gnomes
    Humans
    Night Elves
    Blood Elves
    Blood Elves
    Orcs
    Tauren
    Trolls
    Undead
All these combined with different classes to go along with them
    Runescape has just humans……

The hair and skin design is generally the same thing in both games with not much variety..but the races help in making characters more unique.

Professions: Honestly, when people complain about WoW having only 2 professions that you can use..it just sounds silly..I mean, I wish I could have more than 2 but in all seriousness, you only need 2. You have to take into account that if anyone could make anything then the economy of that server would become so messed up that many people wont be making any money for the professions they use. Also, most people just take the professions that more greatly benefit their race and class which adds to strategy in building a strong character.

I just want people to take these things into account before they start assuming that runescape is better because ‘WOW ONLY HAZ DOOLS’

    Thank you.

  34. Posted July 18, 2009 at 10:58 am

Sorry but i have to laugh a little here. You must really love that game. I’m impressed by your long comment. I cant really use it for anything. I got my opinions and they are soulbound. (lol)

I know a whole lot about WoW but I still like Runescape better. I’m done with playing wow course it gets boring so easily.

I’m not going to answer back on your comment and tell you everywhere I think you are wrong but you definatley are. – A lot.

    Well thanks for your interest.

Runescape wins not because it is a better game, but because you can play it for free. I’m not going to spend a small fortune to see whether or not I like WoW, even though I am sure I’d prefer it to Runescape.

The greatest strength of Runescape is that your friends can play too at no cost to them, and you can play as much or as little as you like and pay nothing.

Capn_Raynor / SwiftrTaylor (lol yes I registered two accounts as part of an experiment to see the differences between playing as a guy/girl. Obviously RS gameplay mechanics don’t care, but the player-to-player communication/respect aspect is markedly different.)

Capn Raynor gets ignored, either that or called a noob. If I say anything for the most part it gets ignored. His friends list contains one guy who helped me and a bunch of random people who asked me for help once.

SwiftrTaylor gets listened to, respected, and gets free stuff. Only annoying part is the guys chasing me =P
Her friends list contains a bunch of guys who helped me out, plus a few clan wars friends.

    Example:

I wanted to go to the wilderness for the first time. I had no idea how dangerous the wildy was or where clan wars was.

Capn Raynor asked for directions, got ignored. I had to go by myself, then got called a noob a few times for refusing to fight a level 120 (although finding my way wasn’t so bad because I tried it with SwiftrTaylor first)

SwiftrTaylor asked for help, and within a few minutes a level 90 helped me get there and gave me helpful advice about clan wars. Plus when I got there I wasn’t called a noob, just had people giving me friendly advice. I even got complimented when I hit a 3 on a guy with full addy armour =P

Some of the reactions could have been because I play each character slightly differently (I am equally vocal/helpful as both characters whenever possible), but in general SwiftrTaylor commands more respect, especially from higher level players. I think it’s more of a subconscious thing, guys tend to be politer to girls, except for the sad guys who ask me on a date (I either turn them down politely or tell them I’m a guy, depending on how evil I’m feeling at the time. Shockingly, me telling them I’m a guy doesn’t stop some people)

Playing as a guy gives the impression that rs is full of silent grinders and noob-bashers, with the odd friendly player. Capn Raynor has been called “noob’ countless times, and he’s also been called a “****” a few times too (no idea what the words were lol)
Oh, and I think I’ve been complimented once after I helped a player get some decent armour. Although he did try to scrounge 100k off me afterwards, so it wasn’t much of a compliment.

Playing as a girl gives the impression that rs is full of friendly players and a couple of sad perverts. So far I’ve only been called a “btc” (bitch) after I blew raspberries at the opposing clan. Also got called “Hottie” by about ten players, but that’s not an insult, more a sad reflection on how rs players lust after pixelated female characters.

On the whole, I think playing as a girl gives a better runescape experience. I do like being listened to / respected, and getting help is so much easier. It also takes some of the boredom out of grinding when it’s actually possible to have conversations with other players. The only drawback is that I’d much rather play as a guy, since I *am* a guy. But luckily there’s no drawback to playing two accounts, apart from having less time to devote to each. And the fact that I can’t tell if half my friends are on =P

Very good comment. You should write an article if you didn’t already do so! This was very interesting. i have tried being a girl in Runescape one time and it worked like you say. But I got tired of walking in girl clothes and BEING a girl.. So i switched back to guy :)

Luckily I god friends even though I’m a guy :D

I suppose in a social aspect, Runescape is better than WoW. Other than that, WoW uses much more strategy and beats runescape in almost every way aside from cost to play. I suppose the only reason I ever did play WoW was because of siblings also paying to play. To be honest, runescape is full of way too many kids, so it’s harder to find useful players to work with and progress as a group…WoW seems to have a lot more organization when it comes to groups with usage of guilds, arena teams, parties etc. But whatever, everyone has their opinions on the games so it’s not a big deal. Oh and yeah that perverted guy wanting e-dates thing happens all the time in WoW and RS..and pretty much everywhere else on the internet..I guess I just like WoW more cause there’s just such a huge variety of Player to player interaction with trading, talking, combat and more…

Also, Anders please point out where I went wrong with my previous mega-comment…if you have the time anyway

(I am Capn Raynor / SwiftrTaylor)

Lol, if I have time perhaps I will write an article. Being a “full-time” student doesn’t seem very full time after all =P

Although before I write an article I’d definetly want to play more and make sure what I say is true. There is a possibility that many of my experiences with Capn Raynor no longer apply, as I’ve played him since before the GE, while SwiftrTaylor is only a few months old.

I must say, the comments here surprise me. I’ve always thought WoW had a larger and more vocal fanbase, but there are a surprising number of rs defenders. It’s good to know that there are mature, sensible, and good Runescapers out there. I’ve always favoured mmo’s with a sensible fanbase, such as Nexus War. The only reason I left Runescape for a few years was because I got sick of the immature idiots.

Personally, i like Runescape more. I guess it’s just because of the satisfaction you get from leveling up a skill or when you buy that rare piece of armour. I’d also like to point out that when WoW fanboys say “Z0mG whn u die u luse ur itms gwwwwdddd” it pisses me off. Losing items adds risk to the game and it serves as a punishment to players who arn’t strong enough to fight that particular monster. I don’t know what happens when you die in WoW so if anyone would like to fill me in i’d appreciate it.

I’m sick of people like Seth assuming that dueling is the only PvP in WoW.

and btw Seth, you say Jagex has more games than blizzard?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_Entertainment#Titles

Even if Jagex did have more games, it’s quality over quantity and either way Blizzard kicks Jagex’s ass.

Atleast play both games and get the full experience in each before making silly assumptions.

I see what you mean. And being student can make it hard to do anything else. i’m student and when the summerholidays are over I’ll need a job: i also want to go to some fitnes center too… Haven’t got enough time.

Well about the Runescape fans i think you’re right. it’s fantastic to see some many people defend Runescape and actually write long detailed comments. That’s so nice.

I also think it’s great to see that it’s not just kids playing Runescape course there’s a LOT of kids there.
The game, as you mentioned, has got too many “immature idiots”.

MMO-wise, Jagex has made many more than Blizzard. Blizzard has made many more games, but they’re RTS games, and we’re talking about MMO’s here ;)

Losing stuff when you die is great. It stops people from just thinking “Hey, I can go do whatever, because if I die it doesn’t matter”. I don’t necessarily like how Jagex implemented it, but it’s a lot more “realistic” and dying has consequences, which I think is important. Of course when I die I’ll be a bit pissed off, but it encourages thinking carefully before going somewhere dangerous.

i think the author of this review is rather bias and clearly prefers runescape more than WoW, no offence mate, but you clearly add in more of the cons in Wow rather than its pros. nevertheless, eventhough you show a few likings in some areas in WoW, you do not show as much exuberance as you do fo runescape

  58. Posted July 24, 2009 at 11:12 am

I am aware of that. That is because Im more experienced with Runescape. Thats why i need all you guys to tell me what you think. It would be hell of a work to write everything down. i think this article is long enough. Thanks for pointing it out. you’re right “Anonymous”.

one thing to say, when you said that runescape “didn’t win” at the part of deaths because you lsoe your stuff, you forgot to mention the good part for the attacker rather then the victim. this of course is that you obtain those items he/she lost. i think that’s awesome, i’d juust hate to be on the other end of that arrangement.

  60. Posted July 28, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Before I say anything I want to tell you that I’ve played both games for quite a while. I’m 110 in RS (played off and on since classic) and I have a 80 and couple of 70+ in wow, so I feel i’ve played enough of each to make a fair comparison.

    Skills
I think that it is nice that that you have so many different skills in runescape but they are so limited compared to those in wow. Smithing in rs is pretty pointless since the best armor you can make is rune which is pretty nooby compared to the cost of leveling that skill. The same goes to a lot of the other skills. not to mention that every skill in rs is a total grindfest. At least in wow you can level your skill as you level your character, and the high end products you can make are quite powerful. The two profession limit, which you all seem to hate, is a good idea to me. It makes for a real economy in wow because you will have to buy another players wares a lot of the time. You collect recipes in wow and that makes you unique in your skill, you can find a recipe for a powerful item and have people paying you the big bucks to make it for them, that’s a good feeling. But enough on skills, overall rs has more but they’re more useful i wow so my OPINION is wow wins on skills.

    Combat/PVP
like others have said, rs is a i hit you you hit me, “potter!” “food nub!!” blech lol. But it can be really fun in castlewars or in multiway dungeons. Wow’s combat is better i think. You have “rotations” (the order in which you usually use certain attacks) to take down npcs but in pvp you need to think about what attack to use, better silence that priest before he heals that other guy raping your friends. Dungeons and raid bosses have certain strategies and the bosses can be so difficult but in rs you just pot, pray, and eat a sandwich while the boss at the end of your epic quest dies. But jagex has gotten a lot better with battles i have to admit. Sometimes you have to switch prayers or you get one-shotted, and there are other things i can’t remember that make it fun. But in wow, the combat is infinitely more involved than rs so again wow wins.

    Quests
This one is tough for me lol. I have the quest cape currently in RS =P because the quests (usually) have great storylines and you do feel so accomplished at the end of puzzles, bosses, etc. Most of the quests in wow are “kill x, find y” but that’s because quests are the main way to level in wow. Quests in rs award barely any xp except for that one which gives i think 100k to three skills? I forget. but anyways, there are a few in wow that are fun, death knight starting area, or the warlock quest to steal a flaming spiked horse for your own ^.^ But overall, runescape wins because the quests are so creative and engaging. (bring out prifddinas!!!)

    Death x.x
I like wow’s version better. But i am so biased on that aspect I don’t think it’s fair for me to say one’s better than the other. I just don’t pvp in RS outside of minigames. Never even logged into a pvp world or played bounty hunter. But the thought of losing all my hard-earned items while questing is sad :( lol. It can be an adrenaline rush (desert treasure when it first came out) but I prefer keeping those items.

    Races/Factions
Love it, used to play alliance now play horde (who are not really the “evil” side as you put it, we’re misunderstood =p ) But the different races give you a really unique feel and have race-specific abilities. Runescape “KINDA” has factions since many players choose to “follow” zammy, sara, or guthix but we’re all really on the same side when we do quests so whats the point? Wow wins in my mind

    Community
It’s hard to say, runescape’s can be childish at times but then again in wow they rip on kids a lot. I’m 18 so both sides like me lol. In wow, once you hit 80 you’re expected to not ask anymore dumb questions and know everything, if not, you are teh nub. I don’t like that and it’s part of why i’m not playing wow atm. In runescape you’re always getting called a nub and its funny! A lot of people are noob friendly and will help you out until you start begging for cash pl0x. In wow they’re also friendly as long as you’re not a high level asking “dumb questions”. You get in more fights in wow “f***ing nub ninjaed mah lewt!” “we lost *battleground* cause you suck monkey balls!” I like hanging around rs more because it’s laid back compared to wow. So i say runescape trumps wow in community.

    Movement
Wow makes you feel more immersed in the game but it also takes a long time to get somewhere without teleports (except for hearthstones, mages etc). You get used to runescape and the squares aren’t so bad after a while. In wow you can go anywhere…ish. Mounts make wow cool and almost make up for the lack of teleports for all. In runescape, it’s faster to move around but in wow it’s mroe fun, so your choice on this one gang.

    Weapons/ Armor
I promise this is the last paragraph lol. Wow wins and here’s why: there is some badass looking armor, more of it, more unique. In runescape, you get barrows until you’re super rich or super strong then you get crap outta the god wars dungeon. It’s nice and simple yes but it gets boring. In wow, you can get some sweet armor and weapons from dungeons and people will always say “your sword is teh sexeh!!” lol. But all the stats get overwhelming. this much agility=this much crit for this class, but only this much for that class. Most of the time it’s way over my head. But the amount of gear and upgrades (enchants etc) makes it unique, and you don’t feel like one of a thousand walking around in barrows.

    Cost
So like most people before me said, it’s really a matter of choice and what you prefer. I believe both are worth what you have to pay, (unless you buy wow, BC, and WOTLK, at the same time plus a subscription which equals over 100 dollars i think.) But when bought in increments it doesn’t seem bad at all. Sorry this turned into a cost paragraph, I lied before =o

In closing, most of runescape is a grindfest through and through. Wow can feel the same but mixes it up better. Runescape is more chill, wow is more hardcore. I really like em both and I bounce back and forth between them. I thought I would decide which I liked better by the end of this but it made me realize I like both pretty equally! This turned out longer than I thought but I hope it was helpful.

All I can say is WOW at times was pretty easy compared to runescape… fiahing took only a few seconds to get to max because you could only get a certain skill at certain lvls you compare this to runescape it is much more of an achievement, I might one day play wow for real but it seems like runescape is the better choice hands down, but sure you could argue that other games like COD5 and star wars knights of the old republic can be just as equally fun if not better… (im only saying this because I have them on my table next to me) But as for waiting for downloading the game comparing it to how fun the games are the cost and all it seems runescape is much better (I remember waiting days just to play wow and its a pain and if you asked me to go through that again I wouldn’t!)

Overall runescape is better and you can really take world of warcraft’s side as it isn’t really as good I’d suggest comparing runescape to dungeons and dragons online but apparently that isn’t as good altho it begs to ask why someone would compare the two for an obvious answer.

    Posted August 5, 2009 at 1:55 pm

O and another thing: there are way too many expansion packs for WOW… wouldn’t it just be simpler to combine all of them in to one and leave it like that? It just seems a waste of money if not time just to have all those expansion packs!

And I have seen alot of people say runescape is better so I think the point has been proven too much

…now back to trying to get into the damn penguin clan chats lol (how the hell did they fill up so fast I wounder?)

wow obliterates Runescape. It has 11.5+ million players. Runescape is impressive graphics to be made Completely in java .. But look at Blizzard and Jagex! Blizzard has made more Famous games, like the Diablo Series. Yeah, Yeah runescape is good in skills but the economy would be ruined if that happened in wow! i’m pretty happy with the two skills, i’m a 80 Rogue oh Khadgar Eu. Wow is addicting i know, but that’s once you start doing really big raids. And comparing a Browser Game to a full on MMOPRG which is No1 rated. on the first day Wotlk (Wrath of the Lich King) was released 2.8 Million players bought it in the same day. That’s Nearly as many people play runescape as far as i know. But wow’s map smash’s runescapes small map! There’s Kalimdor, Azeroth, Northrend and Outlands. Each holding around 30 different areas. Runescape bosses aren’t really that cool, not like many wow bosses, such as Onyxia which you go into her lair and slay her, she throws firebolts, flys and thrash’s flames all about the place. In Vanilla wow (Orginal wow) it use to take 40 people to defeat her. End Ulduar 25 boss smashs huge flames and brings stars down and summons Blackholes. But can you be thrown 200 Feat into the air falling to you earthy doom while trying to kill Archimonde? No. Can you do Jousting fight’s against the opposing factions champions in a group of five people? No. Can you summon an army of the dead as a Deathknight who served under the reign of the Lich King, Leader of the Dead. Undead. Can you drive tanks which 5 Players shoot flames and cannonbolts out simultaniously? No. Can you parachute from a flying ship into your enemie’s fort? No. Can you drain souls to make shards to summon Demons? No. Can you use enginnering to make a flying plane? No.

I like actually having *Many* things to use, like Ambushing a warlock walking up the aisle to take in flag in WSG, or shooting at tanks with my cannon. But yes runescape is very good for a Browser. But the thing is you can’t compare the worlds BIGGEST MMO to a Browser game which bores me of life :) :(

WoW still owns….got the best reviews of all MMORPGs
WoW is 95% in gamespot and PC gamer while runescape only got 65% on gamespot.
Metacritic gave WoW 93% and gamesreviewers gave WoW full marks.
    Runescape is a lacklustre
And i have a lvl 90 on runescpae and only lv38 in WoW….

I think WoW id SO bad because you do the same and the same and the same and everything gets boring very quickley. I deleted the 2 other comments of yours. lol you have quite clearly ignored all aspects that wow has which runescape does not. youve ignored talents, battlegrounds, arena, raids, all pvp aspects accept dueling, achievements, mini pets and loads more. wow has many mini games such as pet collecting, farming bosses for that exteremly rare mount, playing the auction house to make gold, 2 manning old raids, collecting rare holiday items, searching for exteremly rare creatures, collecting real world trading cards for codes for unique items, achievement completing, guess you could say hard modes, i could go on.

Some one mentioned the thrill of buying abit of gear or something?? how about the thrill of 25 people raiding a boss with you requiring tactics and certain group build ups to defeat it and then seeing that bow youve been waiting for drop knowing that its now yours.

  79. Posted September 14, 2009 at 8:22 pm

IMHO WoW is better then Runescape
I have leveled to 92 on RS so I think I have experience in playing ( on Red Head 930)

I used to play RS for like 4 years ( took a pretty long break though) and I had to admit, I had fun. But when I was sitting at a bank, clicking over and over again for hours trying to get 99 fletching for my first skill cape ( yes i know fletching is easy but still) I realized… wtf am I doing playing this game??? I mean all you do is click around and stuff. Now my question is why do you have fun clicking things for hours? The answer is, you don’t.

WoW is different though. Getting to level 80 on wow is like 1/10 how long it takes to get to level 138 on RS. It’s alot funner with the ride array of skills, classes, races etc. Gameplay is more indepth and the PVP is excellent ( All though I loved pwning noobs for all their stuff, but that is not entirely possible on RS anymore…) with all the BG and arenas.

Im not even sure how I had fun playing rs now that i got WoW but all I can say is …. WoW FTW!!!! The sad part is that I would still be playing rs if I hadn’t gotten wow from my cousin =)

btw why are you defending rs so much? you stated in your article that you liked both the same. And although questing is repetitive at lower levels, once you hit 80 or whatever the level cap may be it is heck of alot of fun with all the raids and pvp.

But I understand why some people would like rs over wow even though I can’t really explain it. I guess it just the fact that i’ve played rs for so long.

  80. Posted September 14, 2009 at 8:35 pm

Instead of arguing though, the best thing to do would be to just accept that some people like things that you don’t ( like I like WoW over rs) and live with it because the opinions of others aren’t gonna effect you.

I think your wrong about RS’s storyline, if you actually read about it, its way more interesting then that. There was the marajattt or whatever, and you no, Bandos, Armadyl are also gods of runescape. There was also god called Zaros. And u missed out the barrow brothers, there linked in with the story aswell. You missed a whole lot out of runescapes storyline.

  84. Posted September 18, 2009 at 11:55 am

I know I didn\\\’t tell the whole rs story. But either did I tell the whole WoW story. I know about all the gods, but it\\\’s not worth mentioning that much about it I think. You may have another opinion.

Imo, RS is better, but WoW does have good things. Btw, this thing is FULL of errors. For the gravestone thing in RS, you can bless the gravestone if your prayer is 70 or higher, making it last a full 60 minutes. (No joke.) And RS is “safer”. By that I mean all the high lvl monsters r in faraway places. So where you start there are lvl 1, 2, and 3 monsters. Around your level. In WoW, (this is a personal experience) you can find lvl 5 monsters. (I’m talking about those stone boar things south of Goldshire or wtf its called.) Go a bit east, and there’s lvl 10 Bandits. Cross a small river, and BAM! Wolves so high lvl you can’t tell what their lvl is. Srsly, WHAT, THE, HELL. And, in WoW, EVERYWHERE is multi-combat. In RS, only certain places. And with one of the newest RS releases, they made a “Safe Zone”. The “Safe Zone” is a large area, with no monster’s lvl going above 30. It covers Draynor Village, Lumbridge, and Varrock, I also believe Falador, but I haven’t confirmed that. Surrounding the “Safe Zone” are gates, leading out into the not-so-safe zone. And also, crafting (in RS) does NOT involve metals! (Except silver and gold. Too fragile to be smithed.) Crafting involves making ranger armour, cutting gems, making jewellery, making silver items, and various things. (Can’t remember more :P ).

And, yes, I just realized that WoW quests are very similar to each other with the “Kill (random number) (random animal) for (random item), then bring back the (random item).” While RS quests… don’t really follow a guideline, although some have storylines. The ending to the Cave Goblin questline was violent for RS, but still was fun. I gotta give the “rating” to WoW though. Like in Wow, you can technically say ANYTHING you want, while RS has a language filter. Of course, WoW has a filter too, but you can turn it off >:D

    Alright, I’m done.

    Runescape: 9.0/10
World of Warcraft: 8.5/10 + .5 Bonus points for SWEARING!, which means WoW’s score is 9.0/10.

I think one should buy out the other, or they should merge, and take the parts of one and add it to the other, and make one big game.

have the original of both still, but have hybrid also.
the reason for WOW quests in the races. the first starting point quest for tauren is to kill like 10 plainstriders (lvl 1). for orcs it is to kill like 10 crabs (lvl 1)

its just that all the lands need to have equal quests, so races are focused on the race, not the starting land.

Well, I play WoW now, but i used to do Runescape, i’ll be fair to say that i went to lvl 42 in Runescape, and i know that’s not that awesomely high, and i know i only played free part, but i hope you guys don’t mind i give my opinion on both while i did? oh and my character’s name was Verxillion and i had the ermm.. blue gear.. forgot name haha :P

If you don’t want to read everything just scroll down and see what i said in total, or you can skip parts of my post.

    Runescape:

Leveling up: Runescape is alot of farming to level up, that’s something i don’t like about it, but the quests are nice, too bad you can’t get very high level with the quests, and they’re pretty hard.

PvP: I didn’t do alot of PvP in Runescape except for abit of wilderness and i’ve been to the arena, but i didn’t understand it alot, i got in one fight and i lost it badly haha :)

PvEnvironment: I didn’t do any big bosses, but i’ve watched some videos of bosses on youtube when i played it, and i must say they’re pretty boring, they don’t have any spells that make them really unique..

Payment: Runescape is nice because it’s free, but if you play free you can get bored quick.
Then you can play payed, but if you pay in my country it’s half the money of WoW, and if you got the money, then you could just aswell pick WoW in my opinion.

    World of Warcraft:

Leveling Up: Leveling in WoW is okay, you have times where you do get really really bored, because you only got boring quests where you got to walk alot, and this really gets worse each time you make a new character.
But now with the new expansion when you have 1 character of lvl 55 of above you can make a Hero character which starts at lvl 55, and then you’r past the boring part of the leveling and you can start at the fun part of the leveling immedialetely.

PvP: WoW has alot of cool battlegrounds, and different classes, talents and gear make it really fun as you’ll have to fight different every time, against another person, who will fight in a different way then the other one too.

PvEnvironment: WoW is Superior in PvE, the bosses are all 100% unique and all have cool special spells, at some you fight on vehicles, or drakes, or the floor crumbles beneath your feet, the ceiling comes down, and alot of stuff like that.
PvE in WoW also requires alot of dedication at some times, and you sometimes have to bring alot of potions, bandages, food and that kind of stuff, and you really have to work together.

Payment: Yes WoW loses here, badly.
WoW is double the money, or sometimes triple, and people say you’r crazy if you pay it, but if you got the money, and you want to play a fun game, why not?, i myself have no problems paying it and i’m 14, delivering paper in the village, and soon i’ll work in a store and it’s even less of a problem, and someone mentioned that why not just all the expansions in one? Well, that’s because Blizzard keeps developing new parts in the world, new bosses, instances, battlegrounds, arena’s, classes, races, mounts, items, gear, weapons, and loads more of stuff.

    Conclusion:
WoW beats Runescape in alot, except for payment.
So my advice would be: Can you pay WoW and you want to try out a new game? just try it.
Can’t you pay WoW and you still want to play a fun mmorpg? play Runescape.

Hope no1 is offended by this, and hope i’ve been to some good help to anyone.

Btw for people that don’t believe i play WoW (well, i did, stopped last month), you can search up my characters that are lvl 80, names etc down here

Why everyone keeps complaining about losing items?
I think thats what maeks it more fun becourse you will risk something. And in RuneScape you actualy get something for killing players so there has to be a risk.

    Oh, and btw:

Death in Runescape is borderline genius compared to WoW.
It teaches “teh newbs” not to get to cocky (although their a bunch of pen0rless basterds anyways)
And I think the biggest flaw of RS is that nearly a third of the population are a bunch of annoying 10 year olds.
It makes finding a clan or business partner extremely difficult.
    (i.e Can I has “dumb-ass”?)

One word “Risk”. That one word is such an exciting prospect in Runescape. Being able to fight other players for your items and the value/bonuses of those items is hugely adrenaline charged! Hence that word again, risk. You can risk what u want but obviously the more expensive/higher bonuses you have, the better chance you have of dropping your oppponents, and of course the bigger “high” because your risking items you’ve worked damn hard for! Its the only game out there where u can “race for pinks” and that on its own is why Runescape beats all other games in my opinion.

Is there a such thing in RS as PvP?
    Arenas and battlegrounds?

    kebab on RS

Petter. I got to level 70. goddammit :b But no you’re wrong. “The real deal” doesn’t start at level 80. Idiot?
It starts at lwvel 1. Many people play onle the noob levels cause they’re funny. Damn,
If you read my article you can see that theres a whole freaking bunch of battlegrounds/arenas and stuff like that in Runescape.

    Kebab on you Petter.

i say that wow is better to me sure it has good graphics but graphics is not every thing wow is better TO ME because of the pvp system they have and the team work you need to make that happen and its not just “hit, they hit and ect.
‘ and the money system in wow beats rs instead of having 9mil and still cant afford that santa hat (not sure if a santa hat is more i think its 4mil XD) you can have 400g and buy one at wow now the quest thing wow does have boring quest and ruescape has some messed up qust that has nothing to do with anything wow the travel is MUCH faster which helps me because i dont like to walk and take 10 mins to get form org to the edge of out land when we can fly from org to crossroads and take 1min but the new wrath of the linch king really helps on the quest for wow now for you who say WOW SUCKS and thats it your mad because you cant afford wow so put somthing to prove your point then WOW SUCKS RS ROCKS

  106. Posted December 15, 2009 at 5:16 pm

well, i can’t argue with you since you have an opinion witch i doubt i can change, but the fact is…NO browser game can be compared to a downloadable game let alone WoW, questing in WoW isn’t kill then get exp, it has some story, RS’s ( i have a level 101 account) quests are long and quite meaningless… although you could see it as being somewhat “meaning full”. point is, RS is a browser game (best browser game) and WoW is a downloadable game ( best downloadable game) although on this you could also argue about WoW and/or RS being the best at there category.

The new stuff in Wrath of the Lich king is very nice. Makes everything very easy and smooth to use.
Also, as you mentioned, the sound really suck in Runescape, and it really ROCK in WoW. It’s very dramatic and it’s got the spirit. The runescape music is just.. silly.

I have just finished reading most of the comments in this article. For clarification I would just like to say that I’m a RS player and have not played WoW, so I’m not going to say one is better then the other.

First point I would like to make is that RS has about 10 million monthly users compared to WoW’s 11.5 million active acounts. (Wiki Source)

Secondly, in RS there are Bosses in the God War Dungen that can be teamed with other player which sound simular to some of the boss in WoW. If you don’t like the GWD then try to kill the Chaos Element or the Corrupt Beast. Where the Corrupt Beast needs a team to be killed and quest to be finished.

*** I guess I’m a little surprised none of the RS fans had made a greater note the Runescapes’s GWD and highest level npc. ***

A side note: RS has the Grand Exchange that acts simular to a stock exchange.

Lastly, Jagex estimates the average age of their players to be in their 20’s and design new content with that in mind. They are not developing a 10 year old kiddy game. They are trying to produces a game with broad appeal to a wide range of people.

For the flamers on both sides of the discussion, I think most of the arguement comes down to the content and graphics. If graphics is your thing then shell out the money. I don’t know about WoW but RS has tons on content, you can be a skiller, a quester, a pure, a socializer, a boss killer, a jack of all trades, a merchant, (the list goes on). But you can choose to develop your character any which way, choose not to play, or choose a different game.

well, since you like RS so much, ask java, or just stay there for about 12 hours and see how many players are online, do the math and stuff and it will turn out to be 200k active people per day, more or less depending on the day.

  123. Posted January 5, 2010 at 10:58 am

Well anyways I can say I like WoW better then RuneScape but I’ve had more experience in RuneScape then WoW.

I’d just got to say that both games are good cause WoW is a game made by Blizzard and RuneScape is created by Jagex.

While RuneScape is a browser game, If Jagex decided to realse RuneScape into a CD then you can compare it properly a online game vs a MultiMillion dollar game can’t be compared but its all personal opinion.

    So WoW – RuneScape

as i’ve said before, wow beats runescape.

but tbh i dont think its unfair… why compare an apple to an orange?

both games are good, DONT compare them if you like rs… its just wrong.. rs is a browser game, 5$ for a browser game is “beeped” up. why pay for a game that all you do is click?

i have a lvl 123 on rs (had, gave it away), it was fun for the first 2 weeks of members, then it got boring.

i have a lot of 80s in wow and im still playing it from before tbc. patches (updates) are actually good for everyone, you dont need to wait for a patch then get disapointed.

A.W.H if you made this thing, you should know some else already made something like this. (not sure who made it first).

    seriusly, DONT compair them… its a crime…

    sorry for double posts but….

[qoute] I think its too bad that WoW doesn’t use their storyline to make better quests but i already talked about quests so I’ll stop myself here . [qoute /]

have you played past lvl 10? story beings there, unless your horde then i don’t know when the story beings….. at lvl 80 you start getting quests solo’y about arthas (lich king). at lvl 50 you go to the ruins that arthas (not in lich king form) ruined… at lvl 10 you get a little info about westfall… night elf place is ALL about the lore… at lvl 60-70 you get a little more night elf lore, talking mostly about illidan (blind night elf that went insane), only time you dont catch up with the lore is at lvl 1-9….

point is wow quests are mostly about the lore, there are only a few (100-200) quests that dont talk about the lore. and with a quest base of 1000-1500 quests that isnt much.

  135. Posted February 5, 2010 at 2:57 pm

    Hello Fadi !
I agree with you, that you probably shouldn’t compare an apple to an orange. But I’m interested in knowing what people think of the two games. This was just as much a test, to see how people would react on each others comments. I see that people that drop by here, is very aggressive, and very focused on “protecting” their game. I’ve “protected” my game too. And I see that you do the same. Thank you so much for coming back. this is a great experience to me.

-And by the way. I’ve played to level 80 in WoW, and to 97 in RS. Not the best. Not the worst. But I got a feel of both games.

  136. WoW vs RuneScape #5

I can keep going on about WoW vs Runeascape as you mentioned the people that “protect” thier game really don’t this only occurs because its on the World Wide Web (WWW) If this was an argument in Real life not many people will speak up, Its crazy that they think there “all that” over the internet when really there little embarressed kids that are ashamed to play a game. This points to more then just Runescape and WoW.

    Some Numbers here for RS
they have 170mil Acc created since Rs started
    10mil aktiv player monthly
there are over they day about 100k-180k only at the same time
so there are more than 200k online for a day, because of times zones and if you think about it logicly, there are people logging out and other player logging in, so you cant say any real numbers.
    only wanted to say that.
Runescape for me because of the awsome tech side of a game created in java.

  142. Posted February 10, 2010 at 2:12 pm

The only reason RS has more people then WoW (it really doesnt though) is because you have to make an account for every character. For every person theres like 5 different accounts. In World of Warcraft you can have 50 characters per account. Thats what I think anyway, might be 25 characters.

I agree Invincible97. That’s exactley why RS has got so many “players”- really, they’re just accounts. Np with the double post. Just deleted the “sorry” message and 1 of the doubled posts. Thanks for posting the video, but what did you want to show with it?

    Best regards,

ok so i think i’d know what i’m talking about with this one. i have 109 and a 96 in runescape. i love both and still play both. But i’d really say its just what you prefer. i guess WoW i play more just because of the content. And i think the way you fight is more involving and more interesting. In RS if you are using range or combat, it kind of does it for you. i think it gets boring. and a lot of the skills in runescape i think are boring. Like farming, Woodcutting, agility, etc. But Runescape has quests that vary in the ways you do them. But in Runescape the reward for grinding those skills is muuuuch greater of a feeling. WoW the game never really ends and same with RS. If i was bias at all i’m sorry.
just sick of haters from both games constaaantly arguing.

    “10mil aktiv player monthly”

you gotta be kidding me!!! 10 million active people? how did you get that idea????

RS has only a few active account (100k – 200k), the truth must be told.

Just posted the vid for show I suppose. Earlier in the “arguement”, I suppose I could say, we talked about the boss fights. So I figured I would post this one, which is the best imo. By the way this is NOT my video. It was just a video I found on Youtube.com that had the best quality, and graphics up, etc. I just wanted to say that im playing RS as I type this. I’m cutting down Willows near Lumbridge, and I agree with Davepownsyou. It is a ton more rewarding when you get 99 in something and get to show off your Skillcape at the Grand Exchange. :)

and if i may add one more thing about the price. of course WoW will cost more with all the content. but runescapes price is just right and i feel WoW’s could be a little lower. i’m a member in both and both are great games. and what other people have been saying about “you cant compare ____ to ____” well they are really different games, so yea i guess i’d agree. I mean yea they are both sorda medieval games but the way you play is totally different and the way you go about in each game is different. Compare if you want but it’ll only cause these pointless arguments between haters

Well, i have a theroy why RS gets better “marks” when its put vs wow. RS is a browser game, so you could click to a monster then go and surf the net. wow isnt, you need to be focused. thus rs players are more free to search for stuff like this.

WoW dosent have a high price, with todays salories 15$ isnt a lot, you also get HUGE content.

ok now i am not here to offend runescape but u morons asked for it. to begin wows graphics are way better.Wow has hundreds and hundreds of more armor pieces then RS. Tell me how RS pvp can be more fun when its a bunch of people poking each other or tapping each other with \”weapons\”. Each class on wow is unique in its own way and sure u can have all in one on runescape but nothing is nearly as detailed. The so called \”action\” in runescape is nothing but poking as i said before in wow it is realistic fighting. Wow has different races to be and way more detailed character creation. Wow has the great horde VS alliance theme which is awesome because u can raid cities and and do PVP. Not all characters look the same in wow as they do in runescape. Wow has a bigger world. The game is not only questing it is quests, pvp, dungeons, raids, and grinding for xp. now i am 13 and i can honestly say age does not matter what matters is maturity and the maturity on runecape is so terrible that i sometimes wonder if 5 year olds are really playing. my vote goes to WOW and anyone is free to leave comments i will answer you back because i know runescape cannot beat wow. runecape is for people who cant afford wow or are not old enough to really understand everything about wow. i mean this in a nice way to not offend anyone not everyone has a lot of money which is fine but honestly theres no beating wow so many games have tried and failed wow is the best online game probably wont ever be beaten. so i pick wow much more ty for reading

World of Warcraft vs RuneScape, it should be illegal as i said before, but since you brought it up -again- i would have to say wow…

lmfao what kind of retards are you anyone who has ever been top level in wow AND runescape would know that wow completly destroys runescape in overall playability say uve been playing runescape for 3 years well you could play wow for like 8 years because of how much more fun it is …
the quests in wow pwn they r easy n some r unique jesus we arent asking for all like 50000 quests to be unqiue thats bs
wow pvp destroys runescape trust me id know
wows endgame destroys runescape because of how fukin trash the game is
i speak this all from my friend whos like 120 or something fukin retarded in runescape n hes only tried the wow trial n he fukin loves it anyone who picks rs has to be braindead

    hi everyone,
i’ve been playing WoW since september and am loving it. For quite some time i played runescape(3-4 years) but i quit and tryed WoW. But todayi decided “hey why not go on RS? go back to my roots” and i realized this..
    WOW OWNS
i know i sound like a jackass but i mean i enjoyed WoW way more in the first day compared to the 3-4 years of RS..
Not saying anyones wrong just might as well put my opinion out there.

I understand what you mean IAMBEAST!
There’s a lot of stuff missing in Runescape.. The stuff like you can’t hold over a weapon or a piece of armor and see it’s stats and requirements.. Thanks for commenting and showing your interest iambeast :)

and another thing, in runescape i got 3rd age melee and was pretty damn excited about it. But then after walking around for a while i realized, there were a ton of other kids with it. Theres always someone in runescape who has the same armor as you. I mean in WoW you are always way different then everyone else. The mini games like castle wars and pest control are fun, but nothing compared to arena and the battlegrounds of WoW. And the whole stereotype “runescape is a game for middleschoolers” for me has been pretty true. me and my friends all got to 100+(i personally was 105) but after all the hard work around late 8th grade to freshman year stopped playing. now none of us talk about it. WoW is more complete and has way better content. What runescape has, it seems WoW does better in some way. the numbers dont lie about players around 100,000-200,000 play RS a day while i guess millions play WoW a day.

  171. Posted March 18, 2010 at 3:28 pm

    Hi IAMBEAST,

You’re right. You always meet a ton of players who’s got the same outfit / armor or something else, as you! And this very bad.. I agree with you that it’s nice to see people run around in the World of Warcraft with different armor. Beginners always have different stuff, because drops are so very different, and I don’t think I can count all the different armor in WoW in one day. That’s what’s great about WoW. I still think the PvP games in RS is pretty good, but this is up to the individual person. I got to lvl 96 in RS by the way. I think you’re right when you say that RS is pretty much a game for middleschoolers, but this is only because there’s so damn many of them. They can’t spell, the don’t understand anything, they annoy people and so on. This is why I agree with you. Actually I thought the game was OK, but then I realized how annoying those N00bs were. :)
I don’t agree with you when you say that there’s only 100k-200k playing a day. This is a very wrong number. Believe me. Still, WoW has more players. I agree with that.

Thanks for your long and interesting (and not hating) comment IAMBEAST! Glad you dropped by again-

RS has some end game gear, they are trying to get new gear into it.

but yeah.. mostly all you see is full rune with d scimmy.

    Level 123 in RS (was).

  173. Posted March 19, 2010 at 10:24 am

Hey Fadi, I don’t understand your first line.. hm.
RS is really getting new gear all the time. I don’t think they fail here. And by the way, When did you last play? Full rune with d scimmy? That must be for pk’ing or something which is an old skill too. By the way, Highest level was 124. I think it’s something like 136 now. Not sure.

and i thought of something with the whole skills debate. now in WoW you have your two main skills. like mine is mining and blacksmithing. but in WoW you don’t have to grind them out. because in WoW if you start mining in the beginning there will be things you can mine that are for your level, and then in the next zone. idk if that made sense but what im trin to say is that the skills in WoW flow with the game. but in WoW it can be fun to grind some skills out with friends. but thats why i quit RS cuz the skills just got boring but im gonna try RS again.

  181. Posted March 29, 2010 at 12:46 pm

    I agree. That sucks in RS ! .. :)

  182. Fadi
    Posted March 31, 2010 at 3:55 am

This may be my final comment, unless you need my ubber l33t pwning skills again :p

    SKILLS

Rune Scape: RS has quite a few skills, but for some reason i didn’t feel as if i was accomplishing anything when i got to 99. all you get in RS is a cape.. and the things you get from it are worthless.

World of Warcraft: I love Profs in WoW, you may only get two, but these two will help you very much! also, in WoW you don’t have to grind your skills, lets take Skinning, you have a quest to kill 10 Boars (keep in mind this is a level 5+ quest) each time you kill one, you loot him then you skin him. Plus in WoW, you get much more rewords, and you actually use the things you make.

    SUM: WoW >>> RS

    INTRODUCTIONS AND BEGINNER HELP

RS: both rs and wow got changes here a few months ago, rs has quite a boring and dull beginners helping place, you need to help someone make a dragon sleep (yay?).

WoW: i like wows starter thing better, people think it has no beginners place, but what do you call 1-5 and 5-10 places? you must realize that its way too easy for it to be an actual part of the full game. and lets say you haven’t played for about 1 year, you come back and theres this thing to help you get started.

    SUM: wow >>>> rs

    RACES and CLASSES:

RS: Only one, humans (like we’re not bored of playing ourselves), 3 classes, mage. range and melee (yay?)

WoW: 10 races and 8 classes (more to come soon).

SUM (like its not summed up. lol :p): wow >>>>>>>>> rs

QUESTS: SUM: WoW = RS ( WoW’s quest line is awesome, a lot of the lore in it, Rs has a funny little quest, i like it too)

    GRAPHICS:

RS: childish graphics, they tired to improve it (really shouldn’t have been too hard :p). i kinda don’t mind bad graphics. i sometimes even play text based games!

WoW: good graphics, they need to improve it tho.

    SUM: WoW > RS

    INTERFACE/LAYOUT:

    RS: dull

    WoW: awesomeness

SUM: WoW beats wow here because RS just doesn’t seem to like-able in this department. WoW >>>>>>>>>> RS (PWNED)

    ERRORS & FIXES:

RS: not much errors, a few lags here and there.

WoW: not much errors either, nothing one day won’t fix :)

SUM: RS >> WoW (finally, something for you RSers)… btw i guess i was wrong, i said in an old post that wow beats in everything, guess it doesn’t. lol… i really don’t need to point this out but my summaries are longer then the actual posts, kewlio

i would love to carry on, but WoW will win the rest. sorry

As for coolness, i say the lion :p, for speed and agility i give it to the tiger, who would win in a fight? a lion, its only job in the pride is to protect it therefore its more exp in fighting. it also has a stronger upper body. Im not even going to mention the mane ^.^

  190. Torchea
    Posted April 10, 2010 at 10:31 pm

I’d say the main reason I prefer runescape is that it gives you access to the entire game (p2p at least). WoW restricts the extent to which you can experience the game on a single character through factions/classes/skills even though it costs around 3 times as much.

That said there is one thing that really annoys me about runescape – and that’s how your requirement for armour so far outstrips what you can actually make. Eg, it takes level 99 smithing to make rune armour when you need to be wearing it at defense level 40.

  191. joe
    Posted April 12, 2010 at 8:47 pm

sadly, they killed the wildy. but have added a real dungion like wow! but its rewards are crappy at best. but its fun.

  192. Posted April 13, 2010 at 5:04 pm

BlinkingSky: I agree with most of the stuff you say. Indeed.

Torchea: Yes that’s right! RS gives you all the space you can have (p2p). But you’ll of course need a level too. But at least you don’t have to go and buy WoW, WoW Burning Crudade, WoW Wrath of the lich king and soon also WoW Cataclysm (or w/e).

Joe: I think you’re right.. But I think it’s stupid that they removed the wilderness. I don’t care much for all the mini games and dungeons. I loved the PK(pvp) system. (playerkill)

  193. Posted April 13, 2010 at 5:05 pm

Fadi: The lion is probably bigger and stronger. But the tiger is fast and furious. It’s the winner :D

“Fadi: The lion is probably bigger and stronger. But the tiger is fast and furious. It’s the winner ”

actually, its a common mistake, the Tiger is larger than the lion.

they have the same speed, but what gives the lion an edge is the fact that he has a mane and a stronger upper limp. :p

i play runescape since 2005 and still playing im level 120 without summoning and 127 with it. and ive never got bored of this game because of the pk and friends pk in runescape for many of us its like another skill you want to be better on it and be the best on it and theres competition when you kill a guy you kinda feel good or exited because you get his loot or part of it.

and in wow you can’t get the items of another guy the game its kinda based on only kill monsters to level up and do quest to get exp to level up is the same thing and runescape have so many different skills and quest that you get involve in histories and etc..

i just want to say that i played both and rs is way better than wow. the only thing that wow has is a fantastic world and huge monsters and great graphics but rs is still better it will take time but rs will have so much better graphics you’ll see:D

  209. Posted May 22, 2010 at 5:51 pm

I don’t see how any of you can take more interest in Runescape than you do in WoW. I had a character over level 100 in runescape… nothing changes as you level except for the ability to do more quests. In WoW, you have too much to do. The quests are based on story line. And yes, they do have those kill, kill, kill quests, but hose are the trash quests, the main ones DO follow a storyline. When you hit the max level, a whole new game comes out. You experience raiding. Not some crappy one-boss “everybody hit the guy as hard as you can before we all die” kind of boss. You have to plan and strategize and equip your team with the proper build. I just don’t see how Runescape can win simply because you can have more skills at once. The 2 major professions at one time thing in WoW forces characters to help and rely on each other. It builds an in-realm economy. In other words… WoW dominates Runescape…

It’s true that WoW follows a story line that most of us know already (from Warcraft 1, 2 and 3) but so does Runescape. We just don’t know the story line of Runescape very good yet, because it’s not in focus as the Warcraft story line is. However, it’s true that both games has got a lot of “trash”-quests that doesn’t give you anything but XP and/or reputation. But both games does actually follow a story line.

Thanks a lot for writing such an inspiring and long comment. Thank’s for taking your time and showing your engagement Porter :)

I think runescape wins because the WoW quests are too boring. KILL THAT THING AND TAKE ITS TAIL! things like that while runescape has things like kill that thing to get the item to unlock that passage and save that guy and kill the remaining monsters.

Hehe, I’ve never played EVE Online, but it’s kind of a VERY different game compared to Runescape and World of Warcraft. But I heard it should be funny.. I just don’t want to try it. Everyones got there tastes, and thats good.

I did have to reply though that the PvP in WoW is not just “Dueling”. You can go out and kill other faction members, join in on Battlegrounds (Both factions going at it while going for objectives *or not :P *) and then you got Arenas (Which you can do 2v2’s or 3v3’s and so on and go into a arena and duke it out with the other faction to see who is better than the other). Blizzard even hosts Arena Tournaments for prizes, which is nice for people are good at the game and do Arenas a lot.

But yeah, just had to clarify that up.

Dude if u want PvP you go to an city of other race
10x cooler then just walking accros a border and kill everyone
you also cant attack guards of Some citys and you can kill your own?

Cant ride 100 different mounts in RS??

    WoW is better!!

  231. Posted June 23, 2010 at 11:10 am

Yea that’s true but unless you’re on a PvP server, you can’t just attack people if they haven’t clicked the PvP ON button. Kind of like the same “border” you have to cross, just in form of a button. It’s not right that you cant attack the guards of the other “factions” in RS. you can kill the goblin guards and the Obsidian guards and lots more. But yes it doesn’t really make sense that you’re able to kill your own guards.

Thanks for showing your interest in my work Frikkn,

  237. Seriously???
    Posted August 20, 2010 at 7:43 am

Um… you guys need to realize that there’s a reason WoW is more expensive than RS. If WoW were free to play for all features, I could almost guarantee that most RS players would switch to WoW. Again, if RS cost 15 dollars a month just to play period, WoW would still have a tremendously bigger fan base. Also, are there RS conventions, commercials, and products outside of the game itself? I don’t think so. For WoW, there are conventions, action figures, t-shirts, any sort of merchandise you can think of, plus a trading card game. Runescape only exists in it’s little browser home. Not to mention that wow generally gets better reviews, and they actually have articles on it in game magazines. Positive ones, i might add. There are wow advertisements, articles on popular mmo websites. And on IGN.com, WoW is referenced in many of their “lists” if you know what i mean. E.G., top video game villains, etc. Very few people haven’t heard of WoW compared to RS. Comparing RS to WoW is like comparing a great white shark to a goldfish. One is much more powerful, vicious, and faster, while the other is small, slow, and couldn’t hurt a fly. Also goldfish are more liked by kids, while sharks are cooler to adults and teens. You do the math on which game i’m referring to as the shark. :P I’ve tried Runescape, probably the only game i’ve ever hated, with wow, i loved it from the start. You say you’re not biased, yet you like every comment that defends runescape, don’t like every comment that defends wow, and with the neutral comments, you say thanks for your feedback or whatever. I know that you’re free to have your own opinion, but i’m just in total awe that some people actually prefer RS to WoW. I mean come on!!! There’s a reason WoW is known all over the world. But this is just my opinion. You’re free to your own beliefs.

  238. Posted August 21, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Hmmm. A lot of people disagree with you.

  239. Posted August 25, 2010 at 6:35 am

First, thanks a lot for your long and intense comment. I like some of your opinions, but not all of them. Think about it: Why am I actually here? Am I here to make money? No.. Am I here to make people angry or provoked? Not really.. I’m here because one sentence that you wrote:

“I dont see the reason why people always try and establish a game’s dominance when the cold hard truth is: Both have good points and bad?”

These good and bad points.. I want to know which of them dominates in which of the two games, and I want people to tell me their opinions on which of the categories in the games they like.

As you stated, both have good and bad points. So even though, lets say both RS and WOW has a good graphic (even though it’s very different) Which one of these does people then enjoy the most? I don’t think there’s any need to discuss which of the two graphics are the best. Do you get what I mean?

Well, thanks again for dropping by and leaving a comment,

    Best regards,

I don’t understand how ppl can like Runescape better. WoW is muuuuuuuuch better, the quests may be the 5 “d”s (destroy, defend, deliver, drop and discover), but with Wrath of the Lich King and the upcomming Cataclysm quests acctually changed. Blizzard now uses its “phasing” technology, wich makes the land (if not the map itself) change completely. Runescape has a big map, lots of fun quests, good pvp, good dungeons…..NOT. WoW’s map is huge, innumerous quests, great pvp (RS is you atk, I atk, you atk, I atk…) with lots of different magics and abilities RS would only dream of. The dungeons are way better than RS and RS cant have classes. You just choose whatever you want… i dont like that (in class matter, even Tibia is better). The lore of Wow is huge with WC 1,2 and 3 behind it. (I got to lvl 82 in Runescape, 80 in WoW) yes, Rs gets more lvls, but is still limited (in that matter, Tibia beats both!) In wow, the lvl cap goes higher with every expansion: Classic-60 TBC-70 Wrath-80 Cata-85 and future expansions. Rs always stays the same, no map additions, no expansion, small patches, no raids….thats why i quit rs.

Wow is better than any other game.

ok first of all i disagree to what you mean about quests in wow, in wow you quest to get level, now will you be so friendly telling me how you level up in runescape? u stab the same goblin about 1000 times, gratz you leveled up.
and also you couldnt have played wow that much cause if you think the quests in wow is all about killing the same monsters over and over, your dead wrong. there are above 5000 different quests in wow, there are daily quests where you earn gold and tons of instances (dungeons) wich also includes quests. and as everyone knows wow has better graphics, better gameplay, more content, more players, better proffesions, more items, more classes, more races, better pvp content. i wouldnt be paying for rs when i can pay the double and get a way better game. maybe i sound like a fanboy but, comon. if you prefer runescape you are just sticking to the crap you already got because you are afraid to try something new. in my opinion runescape is like a big grind to get to highest level wich may take you some time. i have a 76 in runescape and 2 lvl 80 in wow i could still level a new one up just for fun cause you know what? blizzard is changing their content from time to time so wow is more varied than runescape aswell. and runescape kind of digged their own grave when they removed wildy. peace out and no offence guys but wow is simply better, you must be dumb if you think something else.

Gosh, people are being such fan-boys. If you can afford the price…play wow. It’s really just a version of runescape. If you can’t afford WoW,but you can afford runescape then play runescape. Runescape is just like WoW in certain cases. The differences between the 2 are so incoherent it’s ridiculous how you guys are only paying attention to the unimportant parts.

Sure, how you level up skills is different. Same thing with quest. Including PvP or the blizzcon or the amount of items. Basically, they are really just the same. Both are unique because of what direction they decide to take the game. Runescape is staying browser accessible because runescape’s goal was to stay a browser game so people could play it without downloading. WoW,I’m sure,is constantly updating so it’s players will not get bored. Take out the constant updates. And boom…you lose like half of their players.

    Posted October 22, 2010 at 5:45 pm

Because runescape is limited to it’s browser capabilities. It won’t be able to do some stuff like what WoW does. So,please stfu about stuff like how WoW can have flashy magic and how the map’s are much more immense. In fact, runescape does update and make new area’s but not as much as WoW since they can update there game because of the accessibility they have.

And I hate how people are saying that WoW has mounts and runescape doesn’t? It would be far too difficult to add a mount to runescape. All the refurbished game engine and possible glitches including trying to waste time just making sure the guy get’s on the mount right would be very hard and Etc(Other reasons but I don’t feel like going into detail). Like I said runescape is unfortunately limited to it’s browser capabilities. I’m sure if runescape would turn into a downloadable game and improve everything. It would add so much more new content because of all the possibilities they can have with it. Instead of being limited to a browser and Java.

    Hello

FIrst of all I have only played 1 hour of WoW. It didn’t excite me, mostly becasue I felt I was gravitated to the town constintly killing things. While in runescape, the first thing I did was go to varrock, somehow. What Im saying is, I dont have enough time to play WoW. Making any sense?

Second: COLON!: I personally would of palyed more WoW if I could afford it, looks Uberleet, but uberexpensive. Price matters, WOW t does, why yes it does.

Third: MY friends play runescape. Plain and simple.

Fourth: Runescape doesnt just have rune and dragon armors, it has decorative, quest related, pets, etc. Not as good as WoW, but I cant even find a weapons guide for WoW. I WANNA KNOW THE MOST UBERLEET FIRE KILLIT LAZER SWORD OF DOOM FOR A LEVEL 40, NOW! also on a wiki

FIfth: This one Wow wins. WHY? It’s classes, I want a deathknight now. I love deathknights in any game. But Im not a grinder. So, Ill get WoW, but for now, casually gaming runescape with 73 thieving is for me.

Sixth: I like the runescape story line, I know a little of WoW, but more of runescape. Like 50 gods, and we can basically chosoe sides.

Seventh: A casual gamer doesnt have to worry of a slow downloaded full screen game in runescape. But at the sacrifixe of graphics. WHich by now are ok.

Eighth: I think they both win!

Hope you all liked it, and didnt care for typos.

Thanks for taking your time to write this long comment, Doomfullord. I really appreciate it. I think you’re right in many things you say, but I still don’t agree when you say that wow is just better in the graphics. It depends on what you’re looking for. As I wrote in my article, graphics isn’t all. There’s a feeling and a charm about both games. Only you can say what YOU like.

Dungeons and storyline. WoW has the most immersive dungeons I have ever seen in any game. Even Deadmines, a low level dungeon has its own storyline. The home and headquarters of an infamous and brutal gang of thieves, murderers, and traitors? Run by a former noble of stormwind? That’s Deadmines. One of the first instances you see. Now imagine the high level ones. Ulduar, for example. Epic storyline.

While I’m on the topic of storyline, I’d like to point out that Warcraft has 3 other games and at LEAST 6 full-length novels behind it. I have not seen a single RS book or game (aside from RS itself, of course.

Also, I recall someone here pointing out that the only story in WoW is the 2-3 minutes after you first create your character. Specifically, I’d like to point out that this person is woefully wrong and clearly does not know what they’re talking about. The storyline of your race, their cultures and their values, are expressed quite clearly throughout the starting zones, and even for a short time after that.

At level 70 in Northrend, too, a broader storyline involving a betrayal of the horde by grand apothecary Putress is played out through a questline. This event even had it’s own cinematic cutscene and an assault on an actual horde capital. Epic enough? For me, yes, and I don’t believe ANY game, not just RS, could compete with such deep and detailed lore.

If I come across as angry or degrading toward RS, I don’t mean to. RS has it’s good points as well, but I personally believe WoW has a better storyline overall.

Thanks for reading, have a good day.

Borktheorc — Overall you may think Runescape is more fun. However, regardless of the fact that Blizz makes a lot of money from WoW, it doesn\’t make it a bad, boring, or monotonous game. In fact, why do you think they require so much money? It\’s because they have so many employees constantly designing new additions to the game. The have to pay so many employees to provide such excellent customer service and add fun and interesting new content to the game (Contrary to what many people may think, I do think WoW is really expensive and that Blizzard is really greedy, but that doesn\’t mean WoW is a bad game, because it IS really fun). Also, do you know why the Troggs look so absurd? Neither do I from a lore point of view, but I do know that Blizzard chose to make them like that. How about Murmur or Ragnaros. Do they look silly? Or Yogg-Saron? C\’thun? Onyxia? Anub\’Arak? Ethereals? The list of cool-looking bosses and creatures goes on and on.

Buffy — Your utter lack of logical reasoning and nigh-nonexistent mastery of the English language support my opinion of you as an 8 year old who can\’t afford WoW. So let me put it this way: if you can\’t talk and reason like a human being, go home, back to the cage your parents locked you in all your life. None of us want to listen to your pathetic argument.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. I\’d post something more relevant to Runescape vs WoW, but I\’m tired of typing and I want to go do something else. Thanks for reading and I hope everyone had a happy Halloween.

Hi H K. I’m sorry I didn’t write anything to you but I’ve had this article for over a year and it’s beginning to be boring, but you seem really nice compared to those idiots who just type a lot of spam and has got no arguments for their answers. I’m so happy you liked the article. I haven’t heard that on this article for a loooong time. It really took me long to go trough all those things and this was just my opinion back then. I’m really glad to hear yours too and of course I understand.

Since I wrote this article I’ve been playing both WoW and Runescape some times after. Manyt hings have been changed in both games and in fact, I hate the new thing that Blizzard did to wow. Nothing is the same.. (abilities and talents I think).

I totally understand why you might like wow instead of RS. I just think there’s a charm about the way you play Runescape. I don’t think, as I’ve said many times earlier, that graphics and worldwife-fans and players is necessary to have a fantastic game.

BluSphere — I personally like what blizz did to the abilities and talents overall. I think it adds a wonderful new depth to lower level characters, getting a new and fascinating ability at level ten.

However, there are some things I don’t like, such as the fact that you only get a talent point every other level. For example, I just got my DK to level 74! Hooray! So, what did I get for all of my effort…?

… Nothing. Not ONE ability, talent point, new piece of gear, nothing. Leveling up and gaining nothing? Great way to break my momentum Blizzard, now I really don’t feel like leveling my DK anymore because I barely get anything in return. Leveling up at high levels should be more rewarding than at low levels, right? Since it requires so much more time and effort? Well, on the contrary, leveling my nublet lock from 10-20 was so much fun, getting to try new spells every other level and getting new talent points in between. It encouraged me to keep going and getting stronger.

Anyway, back on topic… Yeah, there are some pros and cons to the new system, but I really like all the new talents and abilities, at least while they’re still exciting.

So yeah, there’s my personal opinion. I’m glad you noticed my comments and responded… It’s good to feel like someone actually noticed and seriously considered my comment, instead of just flaming and spamming like a majority of the people on the internet.

To intelligent people like BluSphere! *clink*

Thanks again for taking your time to write to me. I understand what you mean. – Some weeks ago I was at a lan-party with approximately 150 persons. I played WoW with some friends and I knew nothing about the new system. It was so annoying and it felt like WoW had changed completely. I guess you just have to get used to it but I did not have the time to get used to it back then. I know what you mean with the leveling. Sounds very much like what’s going on in Runescape. It takes (took, it’s a long time ago) to level up and all you do it hit a rock-crab or some Dark-knight all the time. That’s under the “cons” when talking about Runescape leveling…
I’m glad you appreciate that I take time to write to you because I appreciate your long comments too.

    Cheers friend

how can you even compare these games ?
runescape is a flash game, compare Guild wars and wow or something.. it doesen’t make much sence.

  264. Posted November 19, 2010 at 2:55 pm

I compare these because everyone does. Everyone fights for WoW – Against Runescape snd visa versa. Rs players hate WoW players and they always try and tell each other that their game is the best. That’s why I tried to compare them, dude.

    Amazing post!
I really think that Runescape is better, as a thirteen year old boy I need to relax from school sometimes. I’ve got ambitions, so I work alot at school. I think it’s nice to come home and play a game I’ve been playing since i was 7-8 years old. WITHOUT paying 15 dollars a month and BUYING a game.

    @ Bane
Runescape has boats, gliders, portals, teleports and even balloons.
Runescape is a relaxing game, I play FOR FUN.
I’ve tried WoW, ofcourse a private server, as I didn’t want to pay to Blizzard, and I didn’t like it. But that’s me, I’m a “Runescaper.” And I also found WoW addicting, IN A BAD WAY!
When I play Runescape, I am avare of the world around me. The week I played a WoW private server was one of the worst in my life. Without wanting to, I were aggressive to friends and my parents. And when my dad shut the laptop off while I was playing, I realised that it isn’t worth it and uninstalled it ASAP.

Play WoW if you want to, and stop saying Runescape is bad.
Runescape is alot of fun, you just have to learn the game.

  268. Posted November 24, 2010 at 4:43 pm

And @ all the people who say WoW sucks because you get addicted: That’s YOUR fault. Not the game’s fault. Get someone in your house to get you off.

And @ people who say rs is better because of the cost: If you can afford it, why not? When you die, do you think all that money you saved from playing rs is going to help you? Nope.

  269. Posted November 24, 2010 at 4:46 pm

First: No I don’t “bash” everyone with disagree. Take a look at earlier comments of mine. I agree with pretty many people. Both Runescape’rs and WoW’rs. Agumentation accepted, right?

Well. For your next question. Statement. You say that I don’t state why I am disagreeing with “everyone”. Listen up friend, I wrote a whole article. I don’t think I have to state my opinions once again. I wrote this article long ago but it’s not actually my problem if you guys haven’t read it. I’m sure that most of you check the intro of this article and then just scroll scroll scroll down to the end and write your opinions without even checking mine. And that’s completely alright with me. Just don’t tell me that I don’t give my opinion or state why I disagree with you – If I do.

When this serious and angry part is over I want to thank you for writing such a long and heartfelt comment. I’m glad that people haven’t given up and that you still fight for your side. It’s really interesting and I agree with many things that you say about World of Warcraft. – Yet I’m not going to tell you WHAT I agree with, because you probably already know after reading my entire article, right RSsuX453 ;)

By the way. I’m sorry you had to re-write the whole thing but I’m glad you still got the original comment posted. I’ll just delete the second one which you told me to ignore.

WoW just shoots everything I love on a RPG game. I like its interface, raids, battlegrounds (PK grounds with strategies), boss fights, and the updated quests are fun.

RS is also good especially the quests Its way better for me than WoW but I just dont like how you control you character and the Hit, your turn, Hit, your turn combat doesnt really ring the bell for me. Ive played many RPG games with highly detailed and interactive battle system and I see WoW with this, so I go for WoW.

    not all WoW quests suck.
you really only need 2 skills at a time tbh.
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ WoW ftw!
rs ftw! halo owns there asses though… so does mw2 and blackops imo. but rs v wow i think they are both great.
WoW is expensive for more content and its awesome
rs isnt as awesome though so its cheaper

  279. Posted December 2, 2010 at 6:40 pm

I think you guys (tae chan, Wow=rs2, & RPG) has got some good points. Both games are very great but it can be hard to compare them. They’re very different and I’ve come to know that it’s a personal question really. If it’s not: then World of Warcraft seem to have the best graphics and visual stuff like that. Thanks for the comments!

    @BluSphere

yep that\’s my point :) But I could also say the the concept of RS is also good! Its only the combat system I don\’t like actually and the controls. I like both games and I respect their gaming community. What I could say in RS is its unique gameplay, skill grinding? All of your skills, you have to train it and its my first time to see a game with that concept and Im really convinced with this great ideas, running on Java wooot thats a lotta work :)

  281. Posted December 5, 2010 at 6:26 pm

I’m glad you understand and that you’re able to see it from both sides. I agree with you. – and yes it must be hell of a lot work with the Java scripts! .. Damn.

Everyone stop arguing and play Runescape and the 10 day free trial for WoW and see which one you like.

  283. ...
    Posted December 14, 2010 at 10:40 pm

    Runescape
Pros: free, lots of skills, not repetitive, membership is cheap, browser, no download, fast
    Cons: bad graphics, immature people

    WoW
Pros: good graphics, lots of quests, big world, lots of skills
Cons: breaks down often, very expensive, have to buy the game, too easy to level up, can only have two skills at a time, very repetitive

I think runescape is a lot better game. Most of the people who hate runescape probably did not go past level 60 so they had no fun. Many of you think that a lot of races is good but that means
you are limited to certain things but in runescape you can do everything. There are bad graphics in runescape but gameplay is better than graphics and the graphics are being updated. Also, the quests in WoW are very repetitive but the ones in runescape are all unique and fun. And no, runescape is not a kiddie game. So far I have not encountered any immature people but I do not get why you cannot just ignore them. Also, in WoW you level up too quickly so you can only have fun leveling up for a little while but in runescape it is actually hard to level up and runescape is more challenging. The big reason that runescape is better is that the membership costs 5 or 8 dollars a month while in WoW you have to buy the game and pay 15 dollars a month. Oh, and lets not forget that in WoW it breaks down a lot so you are wasting your money when you cannot play. However, like my previous comment stated, you should play runescape and try the 10 day trial for WoW and see which one you like. But for runescape, try to get a higher level before quitting because it is a lot more fun when you are a higher level.

I’m sorry but you guys either are ten year olds ranting on how you never got to play WoW and switched to Runescape by default. So what if many of the WoW quests are just get this and come back, at least you can team up and do it with a friend!!! Every fricken runescape member quest I did required me going on runescapewiki and reading an article for half an hour before actually starting the quest. You guys are probably just poor and lazy to get WoW.
In WoW there are around 50,000 thousand more ways to PvP on different maps, classes, races and arenas. In Runescape all I remember was the Al Kharid Arena and Stealing Creation, Bounty Hunter sucks as of now. In Runescape everone has the same goddamn weapons and armour to fight with (and skills)!!!!! That means you either have to 1. Win by luck 2. Spam your food before you die. As a rogue in WoW you have to time your cooldowns, make evasion manuevers, and guess what? YOU CAN’T SPAM YOUR SHARKS! Awwww that offends half the ten year olds on this forum… You guys serious? This is how big WoW is compared to Runescape: Runescape- [ ] members ] WoW- [ (that's big) ]
In WoW the prices actually make sense!!! Your not paying extreme amounts for yew logs then losing all your money after you make all those yew long bows. The ore in WoW costs less than the metal bars!!!!! WOW THAT’S LIKE REAL LIFE KIDDIES!!!
As for lore… I’m sorry Runescape has no lore. All I remember was those gay Runescape Gods Videos that weren’t that funny in the end because all it included was three homeless fags that masturbaited in their basements. WoW lore? Dude I could go on for HOURS! There are pages and pages and pages of just complete lore from not just WoW but from Warcraft 1, 2, 3. People have on the street arguements about this kind of stuff.
In Runescape everyone has the same fricken armour, skills, weapons quests, places and etc. Guys the only skill I remeber was to spam Ice Barrage on the Lowbies while spamming your food. If half of you started playing WoW this second most of you would die in utter confusion because of all the things you would have to remember. In Runescape if I saw a guy charging with his dagger I would immediately know that he would hit 230’s on me and I would run. If I saw a priest and warrior standing guarding a flag, 1. I would grab my buddy 2. Evaluate the situation 3. Take out the priest first and allow my DK buddy to handle the warrior 4. Make sure of the use of the cooldowns both of them and us use 5. Eliminate the priest first so no healz will be used. 6. Oh crap my dk died so vanish and repeat! or Priest is down time to get your DoT’s on that Warrior! Ice Barrage and food… That’s all you need to know.

So kids, actually play both games first before making your extremely bias comment…

Oh yeah… How do I know that this BluSphere guy isn’t just commenting as a guest for like 1000000 times making it seem like one of the worst games in the world is OK. I played Runescape for an entire year membership and occasionally go on to laugh how Jagex will ban you for anything. After that year I noticed that Runescape was a fricken WASTE OF MY LIFE! So now when I get a computer game like WoW or Starcraft 2 I intend playing it for a while.

Oh and BluSphere who is this Tuzal character? Some lvl 69 Troll Hunter (one of the WORST classes in the game) noob that probably is your cousin’s? YOU HAVENT EVEN GOT TO 70 YET! Dude stop clicking one mouse button and then watching as your dumbass avatar swings his dick at a yew for half an hour wasting your time. Is this what Runescape comes too? One button skillz? My friend got to lvl 99 Magic by pressing f5 as he was doing his homework. You can’t get to lvl 525 engineering with that attitude, you actually have to try! Seriously stop ranting about just the quests. Imo I do quests for money while the exp I get from dungeons a more fun and better way than clicking “fish” then watching your guy T-bag the ground for a half hour catching a lobster. Dude that’s not even how you catch lobsters anyway!!! You throw out a cage in the middle of the ocean baited with dead fish and pray for something to walk in. Not put a cage in 3 foot deep water for 3 seconds then arise and have already caught one. Seriously you guys have no idea what your talking about…

I guess it depends what you like.

I’m not into PvPing (it just bores me) but I do enjoy long difficult quests that require a lot of thought and figuring out of stuff.

I prefer playing solo to playing with a group (although I don’t mind chatting to other players now and then).

Quality of graphics does not matter all that much to me.

Keeping space on my HD DOES matter!! ;p

I’m trying out WoW, but it’s just not doing it for me at all. It certainly LOOKS better than RS but it doesn’t seem to have the same depth or require as much thought. Will give it more of a chance but I reckon I’ll remain a “Runescaper”.

Nothing against anyone who prefers WoW. Tis just not doing it for me. (which is annoying after buying it, deleting stuff from my HD to make room for it, and spending hours installing the damn thing!! … none of which was a problem with RS!)

    I read on to comments.
Every comment that compliments rs gets I agree with you! Best regards, every wow comment gets, WTF, or ur wrong, with crap grammar.

How old are you seriously, you have clearly never been taught what a fair debate is. I played rs 5 years ago, got to seventy something, which was good at the time.

I play wow now, have 2 85s, kimiiko, anachronos and shandrissa, anachronos. I also have tigurius, anachronos.
I am currently playing necroshard, anachronos, and it is still fun. You rs players spend too much time obsessing.

There is no reason for an adult who isn’t sapping society to play runescape, wow is so much better value for money.

Also, I have heard so many people say why does wow make you pay, blizzard are just greedy, etc, etc.
You clearly have NO IDEA about how much servers cost to run, and how big a company has to be to run an mmo of wow’s scale.

@Splinx, am not sure if you are talking to me (since mine was the post before yours) or to Blusphere, but I think you\’ll find that I said part of the reason I prefer Runescape is BECAUSE it is less social. Or, rather, that there is less in that you need to do along with other players to be able to succeed. Plenty opportunity for being social if that\’s what you WANT to do, but you very rarely NEED to. And that suits me! :-)

Seriously, if you came here just to say one is better because the other sucks, you need to go to a therapist.

Do you honestly think that your opinion is the only correct answer? Saying WoW is better than RS (and vice versa) is like saying a shovel is better than a spoon. Are you going to walk around in real life hating anybody who doesn’t think like you? Just accept that both are better in some ways and worse in some than the other.

The bads bout runescape… You lose your armor when you die, horrible horrible graphics, long ass leveling, only can make one charecter for an account, can only kill ppl in a certain level range, have to click to move around, few attacks, can get viruses from playing the game, account hacking 10times eazyer, super long questing, limted custom creation, and not enough armor or dif armor creation, the amor looks toatally horrible, pvp is a fail in the game, pve is a double fail in the game, no real story to the game, and a bunch of 6th graders play it… Bads bout wow… 15 bucks a month, consumes your life, gets alil boring “all games do tho” only two professions but only need two cas it makes the economy in the game.. and thats it… the good with rs… Its a fantasy mmo game to help kids practice for a even better mmo game such as wow.. high level cap… many many professions.. and thats it… goods bout wow… tons of acheivements, insain and intense pvp and pve action… way better graphics.. has a story line to almost everything you do… mounts :) … social economy… two fraction sides to no who ur against and enemys with.. less hackers in the game… less chance of a virus… better custom creations… better amor styles… tons of more moves and effects… tons of new things to acheive and to strive for… diffrent charecters you can try dnt have to be just one charecter everybody is… rounds and set up places for certain levels to go against each other… chat can be filtered if wanted… pro gamers play wow along with colleges make gamers and game desighners test on wow…. alot more people in the game with tons of more relms…. Wow has been in the top 10 of mmos of the past sense it has came out… always in the top three… rs has been in the top mmos two times but hasnt been for 2010 2009 or 2008… but wow has… rs is a fun fantasy game.. but wow has over ranked rs in many ways with pro gamers to prove it with the money to prove it with countries to prove it and game devolpers as well…

Jagex has awful security. I didn’t bot, or go to any private server. I got hacked straight from their website!!!!!!!! And i am fairly new in WoW, (lvl 10) and i find it FAR more enjoyable than runescape. It just is so much bigger, diverse, there is nothing quite like WoW, nothing as amazingly fun. I am not one of those wusses that lost their stuff and quit because i am too lazy to get back. I did my fair share of work. I just love WoW, and im not saying Runescape sucks, it gets 2nd place in MMORPG games. WoW deserves first, though. It is just so much more enjoyable, and complex for me. And trust me, most of the people saying “Runescape pwns WOW soo hard!” or the other way, havent played both. I encourage you to play both, getting to a decent level in both games, and tell me how you feel. GGGGGOoooooooooooooo WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, “…” you said that World Of Warcraft breaks down alot? Never broken down for me. And you say that runescape is better? I will admit… I used to say alot, “MY OLD OPINION TO THE LEFT, BE AWARE!!!>” that runescape was better than World Of Warcraft, I was actually once a runescape fanboy. But now I have quit runescape, I was fair in my post above, but I could go on for paragraphs, about how runescape is not good in catagories. But I won’t. I just want to say that runescape gets kind of boring, and when you level in runescape, armor becomes very much expensive. 3 Of my friends rage quit over the fact that they couldn’t afford good armor. In World Of Warcraft, it is easy to earn money, you have a powerful pet, and you can actually run into a big challenge. “<—— O.o" All you did is probably watch videos over WoW and look it up. Here is a brief history that nobody will really want to hear. Just to add emphisis. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got 200m in runescape. That was the high point of my runescape career. I got hacked, and I tried to warn people to be safe, people bagged on me with harsh comments. "Same thing happened after I got all my money and items back." I then got all my money back, got hacked again and then got a quarter of my cash back after the second hijacking." I was about to give up MMORPGs forever, because runescape was just getting very old.I dropped all my stuff at a drop party, and then said goodbye to my clan friends, and made my final click in runescape. But then before I gave up MMORPGs forever, I heard of World Of Warcraft. I tried it out, and I liked it so much more than runescape. I am now a successful player in WoW, approaching my first gold piece! Goodbye runescape, and hello WoW!

while i must agree with some if not most of the statements you made, i have to tell you you are quite wrong. as in runescape, warcraft has a ranged aspect in combat. however in runescape you can, in fact, use bows as well as crossbows with enchanted bolts which hold special abilities depending on the type, throwing axes, darts, holy water, throwing knives, obsidian rings, swamp lizards, chinchompas (explosive guinea pig things which hurt multiple people at once) javelins, slings (sling shots) hand cannons (sort of like a gun? i think) and a bazooka looking launcher that fires goo. and even a cannon you can set up that rotates blasting everything within a given radius of it hitting higher than most players are able to. in runescape as ranged weapons. most of these which may be poisoned, poison+ ‘ed or poison++ ‘ed by the herblore skill

as for having a pet fight with you on WOW, on runescape, there are almost limitless possibilities for the summoning skill, not all of the familiars are like a gay ass beaver or a minotaur. you can summon the unicorn stallion which heals you while in battle. or the dreaded steel titan, which has a higher max hit than even a top level player (and is easily 5X the size of a player on runescape), to literally rape, fist, sodomize, violate, destroy, and take a massize steaming sh!t on anyone who makes you mad. and about the items thing, i wouldnt even cover this but this is what most people who play warcraft say they think is “bad” about runescape. when really, this aspect very well could be the one biggest thing runescape has against WOW, PWI or any form of legitimate WOW killer out there. what fun is “pking” if you dont lose your items?? two people fight and nobody dies, so who wins? id say they both lose for wasting their time fighting with no form of profit reward. and some people (who are good at the game of runescape) such as myself being level 131, have the ability to actually turn a GREAT profit off of other players in the wilderness. on WOW if you duel someone with epic gear and win, you walk away just as broke and ill-respected as before, where as on runescape, you stand a great chance of walking away with anywhere from 1 coin to literally 500m in cash (not likely), a realistic profit would be anywhere from 120k-20m though 5-600m is possible thought highly unlikely, as most people would choose not to risk that much of their loot! so on runescape you have a chance of walking away with some free not-earned cash as well as the respect that this brings when others see your adventurer’s log. but you could also lose that much if youre not well enough prepared prepared to fight in the given situation you may be put into (like if you are in the deep wilderness wearing ALL melee gear(bad idea) and a mage attacks). this makes it a gamble, and requires runescape’s pkers to actually develop a certain level of skill for pking unlike WOW pkers who can run around fighting random people and knowing they wont die and lose items. sort of just just bullsh!tting til you kill someone by accident knowing that when you die there are absolutely no consequences. WOW just makes pking pointless and too EASY. honestly. there’s no real argument here. pking on wow is very interesting, and fair fun for a time-killer. but having high risks brings the pvp aspect to a whole new level. literally. because when you die, you lose it all, everything you worked so hard to get, while some smug 80 pound nerd walks away with a fortune (which you earned) in his pack. on wow, when you die, you say “cool i guess i just died” and walk away with all your stuff. its really just a “now i know i am able to defeat you in a friendly risk-free duel” kind of thing with warcraft. pretty pointless, yes. i know. so does the whole world. jagex knows this too. which is why after level 20 wilderness, you cant teleport (to prevent people from running from a fight like a noob when they’re about to die) this is where the real risk is, deep in the wilderness where the ground is charred black and the faint hearted dare not go. on runescape, you get the thrill and adrenaline rush of a high risk situation as well as the possible outcome of turning a great profit from the risks you took!
i thought your article was fairly well informed i just thought id add this :) it may be due to updates that you didnt cover some of this, but some of this i know you just didnt cover.
    **************************************************************************
only thing i say WOW has on rs is, yes most definitely, and without a doubt in any WOW or Runescape player’s mind, movement and graphics. as on WOW you have free Keyboard-style movement paired with graphics than dwarf even runescape’s high detail graphics by comparison, while on runescape you move via clicking on the ground where you wish to walk. or clicking on your enemy and controlling the fight indirectly by way of switching weapons, eating, using prayers using potions, switching comat styles, switching attack styles, using special attacks (which dont just do more damage, some may freeze your opponent, negate your opponents prayers, as well as lower your opponents attack, strength, defence, ranged, mage or prayer) or hit multiple times like the dragon dagger’s special attack which causes you to hit 2 times in 1 turn and uses 1/4 of the special bar. meaning out of 4 normal hit turns, in stead of hitting 4 times you will hit a whopping 8 times! and when paired with super poison this can become a very deadly attack. or the dragon claws. i dont know the specifics of how this weapon’s special attack works, i just know its one of the most feared weapons in the wilderness because of its deadly special attack which uses 1/4 of the bar and hits 3 times while at the same time boosting your damage on the first and second hits then averages those 2 hits for the 3d hit. not to mention the barrows sets special efects. karil- not sure ahrim- hits randomly lower enemy’s agility dharok- when hp gets low your strength fking skyrockets (ive seen people hit 990’s with dharoks) verac- hits have a chance of hitting thru prayer or armor one (i forget) torag- not sure so battling on runescape may be little more complicated in fact than WOW. you just barely scratched the surface.

    What?? Quests are so important!

When you’re done getting your skill levels up and training as well as getting to the max level, there’s not much more to do than questing. Personally I think questing is the best and most fun thing to do in both games. However, WoW doesn’t have very good quests. I think that’s why they made the “achievements” section in the game : to keep people occupied, because of their poor quality quests.

Heya BluSphere, thought I’d drop in again and see how the debate is going. Unfortunately, I don’t really have anything to add since I shut down my wow account for a bit. Hope the discussion hasn’t been TOO barbaric since my last post. Maybe I’ll have something relevent later on if I do some research on cata and talk to my friends who play RS.

First of all, great article! :D

But I just wanted to add a couple of comments.

First of all, the price. Even though WoW costs $15 a month, and all four games cost around $100 in total (if you buy them in a package), you get the option of creating up to 50 characters in total, whereas Runescape costs around $7-8 a month currently, but can only create one character. So you CAN actually save money by playing WoW, but only if you take advantage of having many characters at once (THOUGH it is unlikely).

Also, I would like to add a comment about the people who have only played the 10 day trial of WoW. The trial barely even scratches the surface of what you can do in WoW. You don’t get enough time to do any modern dungeons, raids, any “good” PvP (you only have enough time for 1v1), or anything. You don’t get the real taste of WoW in the time of the trial.

So for the people who are trying to compare RS and WoW, but only played the WoW 10 day trial, you shouldn’t even comment.

    Thanks for reading

    WoW is repetitive?
How do you get to level 99 in every skill again? With a wide diverse range of things to do? Or by sitting in a bank casting high level Alchemy all day for a month.
Also Runescape has become messed up now with the return of free trade. Botters everywhere.
It\’s difficult to bot in WoW due to everything changing. Sure it\’s not impossible, but I\’ve never seen anyone complain about it. A certain fighting bot can only get you up a few levels combat-wise (so you can\’t kill chickens all day). And isn\’t worth the money to pay for one. Therefore little bots in WoW. Any that are around usually get caught easily as well.
And I much prefer the community in WoW, you team up and socialise a hell of a lot more than in Runescape. Sure you team up in things like Castle Wars, but you never really make friends with those people and communicate with them fully.
And the economy is better in WoW. Mainly due to Runescape\’s economy being messed up and everything.

Only kids play runescape. as I go through the comments I see that the spam reactions are from kids that play Runescape, that is also a reason why I play WoW. But I must admit that the quests in runescape are better and more fun.

Runescape. You can actually play runescape free. WOW makes you play just to play the game so runescape wins.

Runescape and WoW succeed in different gameplay subjects. Let’s set some ground rules — Graphics has no influence over gameplay except for the urge to play, it doesn’t prolong your desire to play though.

    Quests:
I would say Runescape beats WoW in this subject. If you don’t believe me, become a member on runescape and do all the quests without any help. They’re so damn hard even I had to use the quest guides. WoW on the other hand gives fairly easy tasks such as: Kill Ten Boars and Collect Award, althought they can become much more daunting…. Runescape wins in this subject in creativity and integrity.

    Skills:
WoW would most likely beat Runescape in this subject. No such thing as learning everything. Runescape messed up on this part beacause everyone becomes overly powerful when they max all their skills. With WoW, you only get 2 professions, severely limiting how powerful you can become, and with the right setup, you can kick ass. WoW wins in this subject hands down.

    Sound Track:
This is a tricky debate. Runescape tries their hardest on coming up with new songs. But what’s interesting is how you earn the songs through traveling. There’s a cool emote as well when you unlock all of them. WoW doesn’t seem to offer this option but their songs are good as well, including songs that put your heart in a daunty tune. WoW and Runescape are tied.

    Emotes:
WoW has more emotes than runescape itself. Runescape is constantly coming up with new emotes but are still slightly behind. Im not even going to go into details with this one because there’s not alot of debate over it. WoW wins in this subject.

Minigames, Arenas, and Other Fun Things:
Runescape is composed of many minigames but, on the other hand, WoW has, for some reason, no minigames at ALL. WoW is severely limited to Arenas and Battlegrounds, but has no feeling of risk. Runescape has an arena where you can stake your items and the winner collects all. Runescape also has a wilderness, where you can be subjected to other player’s attacks and you risk losing all of your items except for three valuable goods. WoW has more exciting gameplay when it comes to Arenas and Battlegrounds. WoW and Runescape are tied here, but Runescape wins in the feeling of “RISKING YOUR ITEMS”

    Fighting:
Fighting is Runescape is boring. It’s all hit, defend, hit, defend. There’s no excitement except watching while your very brains steeps through your ears. WoW is more of a challenge because the wrong move or button could end your life. Runescape undeniably has the worst setup for magical abilities. You can only use one spell and you must wait before you can cast another. WoW’s spells, when perfected, can cause deadly damages that could possibly drop someone in a couple of seconds. WoW would win hands down on the subject of fighting.

    Cost:
With the economy we live in, cost is a major factor regarding when and where we can play. WoW asks for a monthly fee of 15 dollars a month whilst Runescape asks for a mere 5 dollars. With an extra plus on the side, Runescape is a browser game, therefore there is no need to download anything except for a Java app, which most computers have alloted in their systems, making Runescape playable anywhere. WoW requires time to download because the items and maps are so immensive, and with a major downside, you must pay for each expansion pack up to 100 dollars. Runescape wins this subject.

    Race and Story Line:
Both games have an interesting storyline and both have multiple races alloted in their game systems. WoW earns some credibility for making their races playable while Runescape, sadly, is limited to a single race, humans. The storylines in Runescape are interesting but the facts that must be collected are overwhelmingly too much. WoW goes at a pace where you can take all the information in while enjoying the game. WoW would win this subject only on the playable races, but for the Story lines, we can assume it’s tied.

WoW and Runescape are too complete different but similar games. I have no intentions of comparing because both have their weaknesses and Strengths. They both offer exciting gameplay that can and will diminish after a few years of playing, but may return by nostgalia. If Jagex and Blizzard were ever able to integrate, which might not ever happen, they could create a game that would blow our minds by using small details from both games.

WoW and Runescape are not going to be compared by me alone, but rather, by the people who prefer the games themselves. I have witnessed WoW and Runescape but I lean towards none. Overall, im not interested in either. These games are meant to be played for fun, not to be trolled because people are willing to “protect” their game as if it were “their god”. Enjoy both games, experience each game, and lean towards what completes you, but do not use your opinion to cast out the people who lean towards their own.

I personally find it baffling that there can honestly be any logical comparison between the two. I mean, RuneScape is made by Jagex, a small, independent developer without the resources to make a retail game. It was built in Java, which is the same programming language as many of the mobile phone games use.

This contrasts with Blizzard’s multi million pound, custom built game engine, which has 6 years of development from a dedicated team behind it.

The control system doesn’t even compare, Runescape is essentially a point and click adventure. Both used turn based combat, but WoW has a much more interactive combat system.

It baffles me that people think that having as many skills to level as Runescape do is a good thing, it is said that Warcraft is incredibly grind based, but to level 20 skills requires days upon days of the same repetitive tasks over and over.

To an extent, I agree with the Runescape quests being more unique, but there are less the 100, that’s less than Warcraft has in one zone. This and the fact that game is built differently, WoW uses quests as a way to become ready for the end game, which surpasses RuneScape without question. The raiding and PvP in World of Warcraft are lightyears ahead of what RuneScape has to offer, and it feels like there is an end goal, something not true in RuneScape.

In terms of storyline, there is no contest. World of Warcraft is to many people all Warcraft is. But if you take an interest in the Lore, there are 3 RTS games, comic books, an extended series of novels, and a feature length movie in the works. RuneScape’s storyline is awkward to find, and really not very engaging, the quests don’t tie together as a rule, and the Lore of the gods doesn’t really seem to make it’s way into the actual gameplay.

I don’t see how people can ever really say that RuneScape is better than WoW. Whether you dislike World of Warcraft for whatever reason, I don’t think anyone can say that RuneScape is actually a better game. You may individually prefer it, but 12 million subscribers don’t lie.

It does have it’s faults, I can think of many things in WoW I’d like to improve, but to objectively say that a free to play browser based game is better than the industry leader is daft to say the least.

you are WAY OFF about pvp in wow infact i doubt you have even played wow for that long there are way more pvp options in wow they have battlegrounds horde vs alliance battles in the regular game world, dueling, raiding alliance/horde citys
and rs just has dueling, pvp worlds, and few pvp minigames
also in wow you lose dura on your equipment when you die
also in wow you dont need to lose items when you die because the person who kills you gets honor which can be spent for pvp gear

I’m not expecting anyone to read all this, I’m just writing this all down for myself to choose between these two games, because I’m not planning to pay for both at the same time. It’s easier when writing down what I like or don’t like about it. I’m gonna write down everything I don’t like about it, to then see which one has the least of it.

My membership in runescape has just ended and I can’t seem to choose between both games now. I have played both games for quite a while. I’ve got 4 85’s on WoW and a lvl 104 with about 1720 total level with a 99 on Rs. There’s just… Each games has its own strengths and weaknesses that it’s so hard to choose between both.

    Things I don’t like:

WoW: First of all, leveling to 85 can be quite boring. All the quests seem different, meaning different monsters, different zones and stuff. But eventually they’re always about the same. E.g. talking to someone, killing something, killing stuff, etc. and eventually from WoTLK on some siege quests, flying quests and other stuff that repeats often. Then the other way to level is by or going for random dungeons which can also be quite repititive, or doing random battlegrounds, although they don’t give a lot of experience compared to questing. Then when you’re 85, you can choose whether you go for PvP, do battlegrounds, gather PvP gear and then go arena, to then get even better gear and get a good rating. Or you go for PvE and you keep repeating the same boring hc’s, until you finally gear up enough to raid a bit. Further on, combat is nearly the only important thing in WoW. Sure, you can level professions, but you max it really easily, and then you’re done. Or you should go grind whatever kind of recources to then sell. Fishing, cooking… Only good for achievements, and perhaps to set up a feast. *cough* i own a feast, yay, now the whole raid will love me! *cough*. A positive thing is that there is quite some difference between classes, so you can just change when you get bored, and use a whole different playing style, but I’m trying to stick to calling the negative thing about the game.

Runescape: In general, all skills are boring. They all have something repititive you have to do. And then they’ll always have a period of time you have to wait, until you do the same kind of clicking again. I’d say only the dungeoneering skill doesn’t have the same repititive clicks, but then, people find this skill quite boring, and it’s more like a minigame. You’d even start wondering why people bother training skills, since they don’t bring any fun to you. But yeah, people want to be better than others, and if they can show off their amazing runecrafting skillcape, or even their max skill capes, combined with their white partyhat and third age gear, they’ll have the “fun” they need. But to do that, you have to train boring skills. The only thing that is fun about it, is having the thought that you’ll ever have a high level to be able to show off. Doing quests in runescape can be quite fun, if it isn’t for the load and loads of running you have to do. Combat is quite disadvanced and you’re just meant to click a monster, wait for your own health to go down, and eat some food. Or drink some potions. For higher leveled monsters you can have a strategy, but it’ll never be like the strategies on boss monsters in WoW.

So, people just play so they can brag, right? Then runescape is better for that, since people can see your skills, your wealth, and so on. In WoW, you just brag with a rare achievement or the achievement of completing a raid. Or you gotta be really rarely good and get some gladiator achievement or perhaps a “realm’s first” achievement. But I think, if you want to play purely for fun, WoW is better, since it gives you something to actually do, that you don’t have to wait for. The negative thing about this is that there isn’t a lot to do. quests, dungeons, battlegrounds, arena, raids. meanwhile, professions, if they aren’t maxed yet (or you just make things to sell, but that’d be a lot like runescape). Eventually, these things also get really repititive and you get tired of it.

I think I’m gonna stick to runescape because I’m tired of repititive dungeons, battlegrounds and quests that are the millionth time to do, while runescape offers quite a lot of different skills. But they’re just… quite boring.

Perhaps I should choose neither of these two games, but then what do I take? I’ve lost my gaming addiction quite a while ago, and now I get bored all the time. And I’m too lazy to get a life, so I can’t stop trying either.

Haha I know! This article is so crazy. It was one of the first I ever wrote and I haven’t been able to write something this attractive since. I should probably write some more about world of warcraft or vs or runescape or something like that. And I am actually.. But it’s hard to know what good to write about. right?

Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you liked this.

Why God created our planet? The question has not fake rolex watch only baffled the philosophers, religious leaders, mystics, omega replica watches artists but also the scientists. Scientist too fails to explain imitation rolex why and just how this universe was made. Why did the big bang happen? How omega uk was the universe before big bang? Whom to inquire about this question? A classic uggs boot sale Hindi song expresses this quest of individual in the uggs on sale following wordsBasically we know that uggs outlet this world is created by God or evolved from energy uggs boot outlet but we find no explanation of the reasons of their creation. uggs sale Reason of creation is must since the knowledge of cause is important to uggs sale uk predict the effect. Unless we know the purpose of creation, it is sometimes complicated to lead your life consistent uggs sale cheap with the wish of God or even the laws of nature. Einstein too planned to know the thoughts of God because he said, “I need to uggs sale australia know God’s thoughts; the rest are details.”What Scriptures say about creation?Scriptures do uggs sales not help much understand this eternal mystery. Bible merely says in the first chapter working with Genesis that in the beginning God come up with uggs uk cheap heaven as well as the earth. The earth watches breitling was formless, empty and dark as well as the Spirit of God was hovering on the waters. Thereafter God created light, water, chanel bags online vegetation, day-night, stars, birds and animals. Finally God created man in chanel bags his own image and subsequently created women from your rib of man. The theory of creation in Islam is quite similar hermes purses to that relating to Bible. The Vedanta philosophy cheap chanel of Hinduism believes that the physical chanel online shop world is certainly not but the manifestation of God. As a result it believes that God isn’t an external entity separate from cheap rolex the world, but it’s part of Him. “All in God and God in all” may be the simplest explanation with the concept of universe and God.If God can be cheap uggs compared with our bodies of a person then the individuals can be compared with a cell with the body. Just like there are trillions of discount on uggs cells of an incredible number of type, so can be the different types of discount uggs creations in the universe. Yet all the different types of cells like this of skin, discount uggs boot bone, nail, blood, hair surely originate from a single fertilized cell. It is often now proven from the success of cloning that every single cell from the body can develop itself fully body which fake breitling is identical to the parent body. Thus God occurs in all fake cartier living beings each being has the goal and power to become God through the power of Karma and achieve salvation or union with God.In Gita fake chanel when Arjuna wished to see the vision of God, Lord Krishna saysO Arjun, behold My hundreds and maybe thousands of multifarious rolex replicas divine types of different colors and shapes. Behold all the celestial beings and lots of wonders never witnessed before. Also behold the whole creation-animate, inanimate, and whatever else you would like to rolex swiss replica see – all at one devote My body. But they’re not able to see Me with your physical eye; therefore, I supply you with the divine eye to determine My majestic power and glory. (Gita, 11:5-11.08)Thus you will find rolex watches broadly two types of theories in scriptures. One which sees God being an external being who came up with world i.e. dualism as well as the replica watches uk other which treats the creation and God together and same thing or non-dualism. The replica breitling watches non-differentiation of God and the creature is usually termed as Advaita (Non-dualism) or Vedanta philosophy of rolex replica Upanishads in Hinduism. Yet the non-dualistic philosophy fake breitling is hardest to comprehend through the ordinary people such as the theory of relativity uggs bailey button triplet of Einstein. Therefore, the truth is, most Hindus believe in the concept of a God who is different from the average person and who guides and directs the planet. best replica watches In fact Hindus believe not in a single God however in millions of God who all have specialized functions to execute. Though, in addition, it agrees that most gods as just the manifestation of one Supreme Reality. Further all Gods of Hinduism bailey button ugg boots are in human form thus it will abide by Christianity that God created man as part of his own image. All scriptures broadly ugg boots sale agree that this world isn’t only world developed by God. They all give the concept of heaven or paradises in cheap ugg boots which the inhabitants are free from problems of bailey button uggs sale the world that is considered to be the area of pain and misery where people are send being punished. Bible bailey button uggs says the man is punished due to the “original sin” ugg boots outlet committed by Adam. Hinduism says that this world will be the karmabumi or the place of karma (action) where a person could work and perform in order that he can get salvation or freedom using this world. Buddhism too acknowledges that pain is inevitable nowadays and the goal with the man is to be relieved from the pain by the true knowledge uggs australia or enlightenment.Yet when we have discount uggs boot any faith in the wisdom of God, then there needs to be a purpose inside the design of the uggs australia for sale planet and each person must be born nowadays for a purpose and a goal. uggs australia on sale What could be that reason for God and goal uggs boot outlet of individual?Realizing GodAll scriptures supply uggs on sale the hint the goal of all human beings uggs on sales is to realize God or to be become like God. The thought of God in most uggs outlet religion is to help the man to locate an ideal life to attain divinity. Christians are anticipated to follow the life span of uggs sale Jesus, Muslims must follow the life span of Prophet Mohammad and Hindus must uggs sale cheap become like Rama and Krishna. Buddhists too want to become like Buddha. uggs outlet stores Thus all the prophets and Gods within their human incarnation provided a uggs sale australia great that man must follow in his life so that he uggs bailey button triplet become like God.Once a person becomes divine, uggs sale uk he then deserves the spot in heaven and obtain free from the bondage of earth. This is the real goal of religions. All uggs sales religions agree that man must get himself free from the worldly pursuits and replica uggs become spiritual in order that he can enter into discount on uggs the kingdom of God viz. heaven.Though, the entire world is portrayed ugg sale uk as evil and put of pain yet not many people find the entire discount ugg boots world so painful. In reality most people love life and its various creations and want to live forever nowadays. Rarely someone wish to die ugg outlet shop despite of the pain he faces in this world. The reason is that if you have pain, addititionally there is pleasure nowadays. How many people nowadays are really interested in becoming uggs boot sale spiritual? Most people prefer worldly things to God since this famous Hindi bailey button ugg song says,God has created bailey button ugg boot this world very intelligently. As they created the first husband and wife, he gave some of His power discount uggs to his creation to enable them to create fake omega other beings. Thus every one of the creations of person are quite similar to the creation of God. All institutions and system created by man has cheap rolex inspiration from God. The concept of fake rolex justice, equality, love, affection is certainly not but divine qualities fake breitling present in man.Since man are fake cartier few things but the image of God, all their creation must have some resemblance using the fake rolex watch institutions developed by God. Thus the world population has been fake rolex watches perceived differently by differing people. Shakespeare perceived the planet as fake watches stage in “As You prefer It”In the eyes of the artist, imitation rolex the world is nothing but drama where every person is playing a personality. imitation watches However, this hypothesis is just partly true because the people these days are given freedom by God to consider omega uk and act. Hence folks are not acting but facing the real world with replica breitling real forces of pain and pleasure. This world seems similar to a school the replica omega location where the problems from the test, though created artificially to check replica cartier the knowledge, are very real for that student. The planet as a SchoolThe thought of the replica watch modern world is impossible to imagine without the concept of school. Every individual gets admitted with a school with replica watches a tender age and learned the knowledge of the world replica watches uk from his teachers. He needs to pass examination conducted through the schools which test the rolex replica worldly knowledge of the person. Once a person acquires the fake omega worldly knowledge, he becomes fit to enter into a profession and contribute inside the material advancement of the world.Whilst in school, every person has cheap rolex to undergo many tests or artificially designed questions or situations and he must find fake rolex an answer to these problems. Once he is able to solve the easy and artificial problem, he gradually develops the opportunity to understand fake breitling and solve the complex problems of life. All scriptures agree that fake cartier ultimately the goal of the man is always to achieve salvation which can be achieved only by becoming divine. The path of divinity is the path of prophets and avatars who had acquired the divine knowledge and became spiritual. The goal of every person fake rolex watch would be to become spiritual and discard the worldly pleasure. The entire world is designed in a way that it always tempts anyone to the worldly pursuits. In Indian philosophy, it is also called maya or illusion. The forces fake rolex watches of the world are so strong that it is almost impossible for most man fake watches to resists its attraction. Thus a guy is continuously tested in the life inside the school referred to as world. Only if he becomes spiritual, he knows the real happiness as well as the knowledge of God.Thus the entire world is imitation rolex not created with out a purpose; It tests whether you listen to the message of the body or that rolex replicas of the soul. All of us start from your body and move to the soul. One that replica omega watch</a ignores the content from the soul and listen and then the body, is made to feel pain best replica watches and miserly through the soul to bring the person cartier watch right path. Soul is the cause of all happiness and no happiness is achievable without watches breitling the joy with the soul. God just like a good examiner will not provide the right fake breitling strategies to you but only drops hints for you which allow you to learn replica breitling the lessons yourself. Thus the type replica breitling watches which is the physical symbol of the world is sort of a book which can be used to educate the soul so that replica cartier watches man can be spiritual. Within the words of Swami Vivekananda,Ab muscles reason replica cartier for the nature’s existence is for the education of soul; it’s got no other meaning; it’s there since the soul must have knowledge, and through knowledge free itself. When we remember this always, we shall do not be attached to nature; we shall know that nature is a book which we are to read; which when we have gained the mandatory knowledge, it is of no value to us.
