Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduces a new reward system called Strike Chain. The new Strike Chain system in Modern Warfare 3 is a revised version of the former Killstreaks. The main difference between the former Killstreaks and the new Strike Chain is that the Modern Warfare 3 Strike Chain rewards players based on a point system.

MW3 Strike Chain’s point system now allows players to be rewarded for more than just kills. Points can be rewarded to players to for kills as well as completing other multiplayer game modes objectives. Hardline Pro even awards points for every 2 assists.

Just like kills with  Killstreaks, points are accumulated as long as the players does not die. The accumulation of points is known a s a point streak. When a player gets killed the point streak will be reset. Unlike Killstreaks, when a player has received their third and final Strike Chain reward, the player does not have to die in order to get more Strike Chain rewards. In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Strike Chains are reset after the third reward is received.

Another aspect of Strike Chains that differs from Killstreaks is that Strike Chain rewards come in three different Strike Packages. Each Strike Package has a set of possible Strike Chain Rewards that can be chosen from. The three Strike Packages are Assault, Support, and Specialist. Some Strike Packages contain the same reward but are received at different point streaks depending on what Strike Package the Player chooses.
